SO nice to see young people without an electronic device in their hands, outside learning and happy! thank you ALL stay safe
Totally agree!
That boy loves to be with you Ben! Good education 😊
Alittle Ben in the making😂❤
You both have the best behaved children- Ever!! So polite. 🙏🏼
I used to think gardening was boring until I put a food forest in my backyard. There is always something new to learn. You guys are living the dream. 😊
I've taken Ben and Meg's class, and they both are so knowledgeable about processing pork! SIGN UP! You won't regret it!
I sincerely wish I could. But alas, I'm in Arizona. 🙂🦋
I have fallen in love with your daughter.... she is just amazing! Always outside or inside with her endless enthusiasm and curiosity. So smart. So beautiful. And I love her singing all the time. And the boys ~ they are also AMAZING! Especially Corbin who seems to take the greatest interest in gardening and I just love that. The golf cart is awesome ~ good move! It's great they the kids are driving the golf cart all around ~ what great experience for driving cars and trucks when they grow up. Your family ~ the beautiful one MEG ~ who is like the glue of the entire family ~ ALL OF YOU are AMAZING! Thank you for sharing your life with us! I only listen to about 3 homesteader videos channels regularly and you are one of them. YOU ALL ROCK!
You could also plant the garlic and mulch it immediately afterwards. It's so great that the boys are so interested in helping out
Many hands make light work comes to mind when you were laying out the hay. Great family.
"Guber" 🤣😂🤣😂 LOVE IT!!!
I love how your two younger boys are always at your side when you are fixing things!
Full circle, you are now the teacher. Congratulations for taking the plunge.
I'm so sorry, but I just cannot wrap my mind around 'little Corbin' zooming around as the big brother chauffeuring Buggy 😮. The years are Flying. Love to all. Hoping for perfect weather as Nana visits. 👊🕊🤸♀️🙏
It’s good to have family visiting. The kids love the golf cart.
Ben even your daughter's going to be self-sufficient.
This is how I learned to be self-sufficient as a woman I went out and watch my grandpa my grandma grew up on a farm and could do all of these minor repairs and this is why I'm still very self-sufficient and self-reliant and I'm in my sixties now. We did not have specific roles or rules it was always about getting the work done and who knew how to do it and we all pitched in.
Even Buggy is laying hay. ✊🏼🎈
Your sweet daughter, Lillie is growing up so fast. She is lucky to have older brothers to watch out for her and I am sure she feels a bit special being the only girl!!!❤
The best way to learn. The knowledge is just absorbed. Ben, giving Meg mum and daughter time is special. 💕💕🌻🌻
Your 4 boys are such good helpers and Buggy is just darn adorable. Love how your family gets things done!
Thank you for not time lapsing the initial sequence while spreading the hay mulch. That was so beautiful to watch
I really enjoy seeing Sister out in the garden she’s a natural
Surprised to see you. GREAT surprise. Hi MEGAN'S MOM..
See ya FRIDAY SHOPTALK tomorrow.
That golf cart found the right Homestead. Ben can rehab just about anything. Letting the kids use it saves many stressful hours of teaching them to drive. My grands drive ours and they’re 7 and 4.
How fun is Goober!!! ❤
❤❤❤
Good afternoon !
I'm glad you found time to make a video.
It is greatly appreciated.
❤❤❤
I love seeing your son watching and learning from you.
You’re such a wonderful dad Ben. You and Meg lead by example, and you’re raising terrific and well-adjusted kids. Everything is done with love and respect. I sincerely appreciate your commitment to being good, solid ‘salt of the earth’ people. Warmest wishes from Australia 👏🏻🇦🇺🦘
I like the name “Goober” for the golf cart.
NICE!!! I had a golf cart. Raised, chrome rims, big tires, mirror bar, light bar, undermount pink lights, custom paint job, back end was a seat or a bed. So much fun cruisin around my SoCal neighborhood especially on 4th of July weekend wen everyone brot out their customized carts.
Love Guber
I Love how all the Boys watch out for little Sister ! Also how you all work together Awesome Family !
Corbin? sure loves to help and Buggie is always in there seeing what's going on. She is so sweet!
Guber! I love it, lol.. perfect
There is not enough DIY kids that grow to adults. Your both doing a great job teaching your kids life lessons. I love your teaching Bug both in the house and out of the house lessons.
I love it when buggy makes “coffee” for everyone… and it is so much cheaper than Starbucks ☕️☕️☕️☕️😊!
Ya know, I've seen several videos lately talking about or showing barefoot gardening. Seeing your kids spreading hay barefoot just made me think... I'm going to commit to try incorporating being barefoot outside next year, slowly of course since I've only been barefoot in the shower for probably 20 yrs. Silly thing to take away from this and all the other videos, but for whatever reason it's stuck with me recently and I think it's like one of those whispers we get from our buried intuition that tells us it's needed. Thank you for sharing all that you do... you never know what lessons ppl will learn from what you put out there! Blessings to your family ❤️
Enjoyed the video. Ben can do just about anything. 🤗🥰
Mulching the garlic bed! I'm glad the boys could help you do that! I'm glad that you got the golf cart but that is sad that you have so much to fix on it. It's good that you got it cheap I hope! Nice job fixing the squeakiness of the golf cart. So the boys love driving the golf cart. The Guber! I'm glad you are doing pig butchering classes! Thanks for this video Hollar family!
Many hands make light work!
I used the "Ruth Stout" method for decades (which is what the hay mulch is basically) and it works great. One thing that makes planting a little bit easier is a short tube of PVC pipe. You use it to set the hay aside and drop the seed or cloves down through the hole and it's so quick and easy.
I love to see all the kids out there with you working....it make me nostalgic!
It's so sweet how your boys want to learn, free education!!!!!
A little tip... plant the garlic and then immediately cover with hay (too late now). I did it like you one year. It was more work.
I mulch with grass clippings. You are correct; I would get weeds regardless, so I might as well get the benefits of the grass mulch. It adds to the organics.
Your son Bret has good mechanical instincts. Let him learn more and get more involved. They can do more than you would expect. Let him watch first, then let him help, and then watch him do it. Now double check his work. I worked at a garage when I was 15 and when I was 17, people would travel from out of state to have me work on their vehicles. I was also trained at a votech school. Learning to be mechanic is a life skill. Incredibly valuable. Even though I no longer work as a mechanic (I went to college and earned two degrees), I still do most of my own mechanical repairs. I don''t trust the shade tree mechanics in most garages (that they now call "techs"). One of my vehicles is 22 years old, and the other one is 14 years old. They all run and drive like new. The sports car I built looks and feels new. Obviously, I keep that one garaged. Fun vehicle! Oh... I didn't train my kids enough in mechanical repairs. You can't go back to correct some things.
You can make longer leaf spring links if you want to raise the rear up a bit. However, it will not raise your axle. Only a taller wheel/tire will do that. Longer links will give you more room for a taller tire, though. I used to install lift kits on old leaf-spring Mustangs to raise the rear end up a bit. The old ones always sagged.
As always, I am going to comment about safety (I was trained to). Your little angel in that golf cart is vulnerable if there is even a small accident. She would be thrown out of it. Maybe you have seat belts and I shouldn't be concerned? I couldn't tell. I've had my share of bringing accident vitims out of the woods from ATV accidents. My son lost his friend in a snowmobile accident. Decapitated. Accidents do occur so one needs to be prepared as much as is reasonable. My son had a bicycle accident and fortunately had his helmet on (my rule in order to ride the bikes). The helmet cracked in half when he was thrown. My son was okay. I'll pay for a new helmet any day.
All the best with your classes! Sounds like a fun time. Though, I would probably enjoy Meg's cooking better. Oh well. I already butcher all my animals.
It was so beautiful to see all of you men working together❤
Buggy was there...serving (mud((dy?)) coffee! Best part though...was when Ben called HAMMER!!..(10:07) and Thor's hammer 🔨 appears from nowhere ...ha ha...
Corbyn looked like a dad with kids while backing up that golf cart! Pretty skilled already! I can't even drive forward properly AHAHAHA
For some reason UA-cam didn’t send me a notification this video was posted. I watch every second of every video. Glad I saw it on my suggestion page.
Ben I have no doubt that when you get finished it will be like new, better than new. Hope Meg is enjoying her time with her mom.
"1 years seed , is 7 years weeds!" Weeding is a part of gardening life...mulch helps indeed tho! Much love and respect to you all
Ben you made me smile and😂 reminded me of when we got our electric golf cart and I kept telling my husband/kids to remember it is a golf cart, not a JD Gator, were saving up for batteries now 😂😂. Your kids r making great memories, wait til they get stuck in a mud hole.
Hi guys, glad to see a video. Hope your enjoying the family company.👍🏻😊❤️
Gosh Munchie was so little when you moved to NC and now he's driving a golf cart.
4 willing helpers and one little one in it for fun🤣
You are a great hasband and father ❤️ and to give mother and daughter time alone ❤and all the children is by you😅😅besafe and GOD Bless 🌹❤️🌹❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Great vlog from a great family; thanks for sharing! Blessings to everyone 🤗💗🇨🇦
Guber…great naming!!
You can fix anything such a gift. You mini you will know hes always watching Dad after while they will be doing for the family.😊
and in another year or two you will have to buy another one because Buggy is going to want to take her turn at driving everything LOL she loves doing everything Daddy does and her brothers lol
Gosh, that brings back memories. I had a son who was always there, on his own, helping with a project.+
GREAT name for the cart! Funny and completely apropos!
I love it. Getting a ride in a goober😂😂😂😂😂
My favourite family. 💗 💗 💗
That boy loves to be with you, good action
I love the guber being driven in the background 😂
I am glad you guys get family time.
We have replaced the solenoid switch several times, batteries a couple times and a brake switch and charging switch. The golf cart from h***. But, I do love it when it works. I’m 65 and my fiancé is 70 so it helps us around the property so much. ❤❤❤
Goober is the perfect name for your new farm vehicle.
Even though we used to butcher our own beef, pigs, chickens and of course deer, turkeys and fish I wouldn't mind a refresher course unfortunately, I live to far away but, hope your classes are full.
Enjoy time with family. Blessings to you all. 😊🇺🇲
G-uber😂..love it!
Prepped my garlic bed last week. Planted 156 cloves and then covered with coconut coir today. I did it that way last year and had the best garlic haul in July. I dried 3/4 and made the most delicious garlic powder. I’m so thrilled this is done.
Love watching you all working together for a successful homestead.
The mouse scurrying while you moved his home was hilarious! I wish your cat was with you then!
Wish I lived closer to you. I don't have pigs at this stage of my life. But I wouldn't mind learning and helping out. You can never learn too much, I believe. 🙂🦋
GUBER - LOVE IT!!!
Nannas a work are happy Nannas. I know, because I am one.
As a person who studied animal science at NCAT. I love seeing this cart on a homestead.
Thanks for letting us visit.
❤ a little mouse woke up when you moved it's hay bale home! 0:22
Great job Meg on naming the Goober! 😂
I love to watch Corbin driving vehicles, especially when he goes in reverse. He turns around and looks over his shoulder like an old pro that’s been driving for years. 🛺👍🏼
Beautiful music on this one. Nice work.
When you said “hammer” a little arm shot out to pass it to you…as smooth as a surgical assistant lol. Blessings Hollars! Much love from your biggest Western NC fan🙏🏻
I'm a Veteran (Air Force/ Army) and started a food forest. I have eight egg layers and a food forest. So far, I have 20 different fruit trees and many other edible and medicinal plants. I need a tractor! I'm 5 years in, and the work is getting to be a little more than my pitchfork and gorilla cart can handle. I have three or four 30-yard woodchip trucks come in...pretty much every day. Depends on what the tree company has going on. Anyway, do you recommend the tractor you're using? I need one. I am disabled, but I'm mobile. I can lift and all that good stuff, but I have to be careful. I am getting older. I like the tractor you have. Looks fantastic, but I'll admit I'm a little gun-shy when it comes to large purchases. That is, unless it is truck parts, guns, or computer parts. Sorry for the rant. I hope all this was entertaining. Doo doo bop. If you laughed at the doo doo bop...we're friends, and you didn't know it. Nice farm, man. 4 real. AIR ASSAULT!
Also.........The Guber needs muds tires. Just sayin'.
Love the way you work with your kids with such respect, they are being Taught God and Family 🙏 togethernes.
It's Nice how they already know how to drive . Your beautiful baby girl right in there with those handsome sons of yours. You and Meg are doing a great Job. To see a family with each other being part of each other's life. Very cool. Thank you for sharing. God Bless your family.🕊️
Enjoy watching your video .
What fun project for dad and son. My dad only had girls, 6. I was the oldest so i became the one to work in the garage with dad. Those days are fond days for me. Enjoy.
10:03 ... and a hammer appears. A well trained team are the key to a good operation.👍😃
Good job thank you for the show
Still making life harder on yourself than it needs to be. Sow the garlic cloves and THEN mulch heavy. When they start sprouting next spring you can offer the young sprouts assistance by moving the mulch off the tender greens OR just let them push up through the hay on their own.
When I was your age I went on a bike trip with my church around the thumb of Michigan there and back it was a experience I never ever forgot great job boy's
Love the videos (as usual)! Excited to hear about your upcoming workshop. Sadly, we cannot keep pigs on our property but otherwise would love to learn. Speaking of workshops - my husband has been looking for a basic beginner welding class locally here in Tn and we cannot find anything other than full certification courses. We just want basic “farm repairs” and “farm build” welding. I’m planning to buy hubby a full welding setup for Christmas. But no classes anywhere! I wonder if Ben would consider doing a farm welding/safety workshop? Also - grandma and Meg are sewing??? Would LOVE to see that kind of content too! In fact - Meg - if you start a knitting UA-cam channel, my daughter and I will be your first two subscribers! :)
Words of wisdom! If seeds aren't in your soil, they are in bird poop or the wind! Might as well hay it up!
Good job on the vehicle maintenance!!!😊🎉❤
Good job on the golf cart and garlic bed!
I love all videos that you put out
Goober is a good peanutty name...
I know where my meat comes from I just don't like to watch it. But am very happy you are teaching humane ways to do it.
those two young children seem to be the regular helpers. guess it is like playing for them. that maintenance long overdue has been so worth it. The way you respect your mother in law and enjoy family time together is definitely the way to go.
I’m across the pond. But I’d pay just to hang out with you guys.
Massive bonus on butchering days.
YOU GET TO TASTE MEG’S COOKING.🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞.
Great team work 👍.
Thank you for shearing 🙏👏🙏👏
Blessings, julie
Thought for sure you were going to talk about our southern border on this one with this title.
Edible Acres! Good Folks, just like you! Blessings Abound.
Looks the the kids are enjoying the Guber…
Love the guber!😅
