I'm surprised no one calls out the Dora keepsake for good early options. It heals you to full health until you run out of the reserved health. Its the most GOAT'd keepsake to have while learning a new weapon or just the new mechanics of the game. I really think the key to successful runs is having a good sprint boon, cast boon, and attack/special boon (one or the other) Sprint and Cast are your defensive tools.
I got Chronos after about 8-10h of total playtime on my 3rd try with him. The game feels challenging but the *right amount* of challenging. And for those who are struggling, the progression mechanics will eventually get you there; it'll just take a little longer! I am obsessed with the Silken Sash. Used Haephestus to stack up a ton of armor and the +100% damage to Casts outfit from Arachne. Then I got the upgrade to get a free 30 armor in every room (which is consumed FIRST when getting hit) so the +4 armor per room just stacks up underneath that 30 armor as long as you don't take too much damage. By the time I got to Chronos, I had so much armor and was doing so much damage thanks to my outfit + Hex (the one that drops the moon on enemies lol) that I absolutely clobbered Chronos. In hindsight though I'd go with Lunar Ray instead since it charges up so much faster and is less likely to miss against mobile bosses. In future I plan to use Moonbeam to upgrade my Hex as much as possible as early as possible, and try to get Arachne's outfit passed the first boss so I can swap to Silk Sash once I've already gained the benefits of Moonbeam.
I finally got my first kill today, THANK YOU HEPHAESTUS! I was able to get to him consistently, but my runs just kept not being exactly what I was going for. Best thing you can hope for is the interaction in the House of Hades that reduces his backup. He doesn't have as much downtime as Hades did, but know when to back off. His tear in reality attack has a deceptive amount of range, as does his scythe boomerang. Honestly found phase 2 easier, but maybe that's just me.
This game is amazing, I have about 6 hours played, was stuck on the second boss, did a run with the candles which I hated but I got all the way to the final fight. Can’t wait to play more.
Can't wait to get early access, I've 100% Hades 1 and what I've seen of Hades 2 already is hyping me up so much! Absolutely love y'alls content, MH, Diablo and now Hades too, this is gonna be awesome to see!
Note for Area 2, Hestia's Cast is amazing for the pinhead waves. Applies scorch and if you get the explosion for scorch stacks it just cleans rooms quick. Especially that random small room with a bajillion pinheads that spawn on DIRECTLY on top of your character model.
1:29 This could potentially be very misleading to someone new at the game who doesn't fully understand the keepsake mechanics. Sounds as if you are saying that you can swap out keepsakes whenever you want to, at aby point... This just isn't ture.
Circe's keepsake is insane. I was using it at the start of all my high fear runs and about 70% of the time I would get Judgment as the Arcana card activated after beating Hecate so by the time I got to Tartarus I had 8 extra Arcana cards at my disposal. Those runs were ridiculous and so much fun.
The most important thing is to make each run count even if you only get to one boss make sure you focus on your most important upgrade material im currently maxing the psych bar so i have all the tools for it, if you die as long as you got a bit is ok
Finally prevailed on the 32th night with the moonstone axe (granted, probably the most broken weapon). Super challenging and intense but so rewarding. Love the game and can't wait to see more !
For the second area's boss, I would like to point out that I have seen the fish spam at the very end of the fight actually run out of spawns, as in once you kill them all, no more appear. So it is possible to kill them all. There is just so many it's not worth it unless your build just isn't able to deal with them and the boss at the same time.
Moros keepsake is by far the best. Basically adds a 10 second invulnerability phase after you die before you really die, and then heals you for 60 if you survive. So suppose you are low on health and cannot find healing stuff, in a desperate situation you can let the last enemy kill you, heal for 60 and kill the enemy, and most importantly save your defy death for later.
Warning about the Luckier tooth: seems it can bug out and not work. I died after my 2 death defiances in the final boss got used, when i was supposed to still have the tooth defiance. Really sucked as if it did work, i would have most likely beaten the boss. It had less than 30-40% and i had an killer build going.
If you want to semi cheese 32 fear, take aspect of Momus, no health recovery maxed and no timer at all for fear settings, the rest you can play around with but I would suggest only one increase in enemy speed. Make sure you have the Arcana card that regens magic every second as well. Then get either Poseidon or Aphrodite on the special (you can keep dying off until you get an epic for more boost) with its keepsake. With Aphrodite shoot for her and Poseidon's Duo boon to really make the run easy. Lastly you have to get one of the hammers that increases special attack, preferably the one that lets you shoot 2 projectiles, but the other two work as well just not as strong. If you get all that, you can take your time in every room and when you get to less than 50% hp, keep shooting your omega special into a wall to regain your health when there are no enemies around. You can do the same in the Chronos fight by running away and just shooting a wall if you are low on health. You should have no problem taking down 32 fear this way.
If you are really struggling with the sirens, I'd recomend using the axe with appolos/aphrodites attack Just spin to win. That fish phase doesn't affect you at all if you spam the spin
Bro. Don't sleep on the chaos keepsake. If you time your keepsake switch correctly, you can't get a bomb chaos boon on a switch. I notice you used the moon keepsake a lot. Good choice. That whole tree upgrade with the stars can be op
I’m glad I’m not the only person finding the game much more challenging than the first. It doesn’t feel like a bad kind of challenging per say, specially considering the context of the game. It feels right that it would be harder than the first one. There’s some mechanics that annoy me tho.
Anybody have any info on familiars? I picked the Frog but then remembered the cat you sometimes see in the woods, but I haven't seen it since the familiar system got introduced to me. Is the Frog the only one available currently?
No you can get the cat. Once you get the familiar conjure, it doesn't appear in the depths anymore. It appears after the first biome on the surface. Have a fish to gift with you though
Upgrading number 2 first or early is bad advice imo unless you are really struggling health + dodging wise. As you get good at the game and unlock more cards/approach grasp limit that becomes way less useful to your overall power and survival. Especially because stacking power isn't as easy and plentiful as the last game was but healing is way more so. It is arguably better than faster sprint so not the worst 1 cost card, but sprint probably feels better for more. Idk, those motes are better used elsewhere and not the easiest to get.
I am glad to see I'm not alone thinking the game's tough. Even with like 400 hours on Hades 1, this game feels a lot less powerful in my opinion in relationship to the first. In Hades 1 I was out by the 27th attempt, in Hades 2 it's been 58 nights and I haven't been able to kill Chronos once and I swear I am not that bad.
You might just need to get used to the different play style and mechanics. Use your cast and omega moves more often. Don’t forget to upgrade your alter too, 30 more health and mana makes big difference. And find boons and weapons that fit your play style. I got my first clear using twin blades with apollo cast/sprint and aphrodite HP buffs, been consistently clearing Chronos using twin blades since then
I'd be careful about overvaluing the Knucklebones. It can be good, but the 15% damage reduction is rarely going to be anywhere near as good as the Luckier Tooth's extra death defiance. Knucklebones scales with your max HP -- in order for it to give you as much extra HP as the Luckier Tooth's extra 101, you would need to take 572 damage during the fight! And that's before considering that Death Defiance saves you from "overflow" damage -- if you're at 2 HP when you take a 30 HP hit, that's like it granting you an extra 28 HP on top of the 101. The question then is how much Knucklebones making the Guardian lose 15% of their HP is worth: my gut feeling is that all the guardians get more dangerous as they lose HP, so that 15% is only shortening the easiest part of the fight. Still useful to speed things up, but take it as you will. Although I realize now I've never brought it into the final fight -- does it make the final boss lose 15% more HP when he enters his second phase, or does it only trigger when the fight starts?
From my experience with how these effects work, it should only proc at the start of the first phase. I definitely agree that leaning on Knucklebones is probably unwise, I generally only ever recommend using it on a boss you generally have some bad history with, earlier the better. I think second section of descent is a good sweet spot for it(mileage may vary), partly since after the first area, your build should be coming together fairly well. At least in my own experience, being able to get past that second boss fight that little bit quicker is a huge boon to making runs go just that much smoother.
Alothugh i not finshed will hell story yet and i made it to the final boss a few times not beat him tey with that in mind is it still worth going to the heaven part the upstairs to get some materials from there all thought not beat final boss in hell
Yes, you should totally make use of both ways to get more upgrades and materials for future upgrades! Plus it will give you some good experience with the surface enemies. Just be aware that your first couple of surface runs might be very short.
hm I wonder if I should be worried.. I'm 20ish hours into the game and haven't gotten Concentration of Ashes didn't even know that was a thing. I've just been rocking the 10 hands every run and its definitely a challenge lol. hopefully I don't need to restart xD
The game is unplayable with keyboard and mouse at a certain point. You simply can't see the cursor. They need to add support for Yolomouse or give us the option to have a bright green and pink cursor that doesn't get lost in the visual clutter. Frustrated.
I don't know that I'd hands down call it easier, but it definitely wasn't too hard to start making runs reach Cronos consistently, though this is all speaking with (I assume) previous experience with Hades.
You should let people know how strong the moon boon is. There is 1 main boon in there that is of interest, the one that turns you invincible for 5 seconds and allows you to attack. If you get something that charges your magick, you can keep going invincible, attacking, run away, use magic, repeat. That or the one that gives +25 health. If you can get 6, 7 uses, then it can help beat bosses, especially the last 2 in the underworld. As for the boss that gives you the golden apple (wouldnt want to spoil anything) id try getting the one that makes you invincible. Maybe I am missing something, but that boss kicks my ass, and I cant beat it
I personally think the best beginner boon is the Aromatic Phial from Narcissus. It makes fountains heal for an increased 20%, and once it's level 3, it upgrades a common boon to a heroic one.
I mean, different boons have different uses for each person, and the same applies to everything. ^So suspend your disbelief and let people give tips and choose to use (or not) them.
Okay okay okay, for the second boss defeat one of the others and use the Moon boon that lets you resurrect an enemy….IT WORKS AND has extra dialogue!!
That’s a crazy idea, gonna def try it out ty
Can confirm, gave myself percussion but I think it doesn't work on the singer
Well she does technically have that third phase at the end where she summons the fish, so I think we only get the guitar or the drums.
@@ellagage1256the singer cant die early: shes always the last one you beat

for the Scylla boss the music volume also changed when you kill the sirens. Pretty neat detail there.
The volume doesn't change
The track does based on which one you kill. Kill the singer first and she stops singing. Drummer and drums turn off. Etc
