UWS-4 Aero Design: Part 3, Engine and Propeller Sizing

- In part 3 of our video series on using Dan Raymer's Book "Simplified Aircraft Design for Homebuilders" to design the UWS-4 ultralight airplane, we work on Engine Sizing and Propeller Diameter and number of propeller blades (2 or 3). Engine sizing is just determining the Horse Power (HP) we need for takeoff. For the propeller diameter we use Dan's equations to get a first estimate and then use the desired propeller tip speed to determine the maximum diameter for the propeller to keep the propeller tip speed from creating a transonic shock wave..
