It has skii that counts how many laps and doesn't count the lift up but somehow it has us MTBers neglected of having similar features for bike park laps and with 5,000m of elevation on each bike park day.
Absolutely yes! As far as I understand, for now we are only offered an MTB activity profile with manual lap counting using back|lap button. I am trying to fit this technique to collecting grit and flow data for park runs. But still does not have enough experience to consider it a useful instrument for me. Maybe you have any advice on using grit&flow data for measuring and improving DH runs?
Back up and restore! Finally. We’re all know Garmin watches do not work all the time and there are some major problems at times. Garmin’s fix contribute and causes massive problems for athletes, so it’s good to see their addressing these secondary problems

If only they would open up the choices for “data” options in the watch faces, rather than limiting the choices to so few and also not having the blank option either. Of course the analog face I prefer, I can’t have the data fields I want, nor can I get rid of the extra two I’d rather never see. Epix 2 pro. Difference in maps? GARMIN says the Fenix has maps downloaded and epix does not. What does this mean in usage? Any other differences not generally shown or known? When using the maps is the fenix better due to the screen staying on vs the epix always turning off while trying to figure out what you want to do? Thank you.

JFC over a decade of using Garmin watches and they finally, have a real backup/restore feature and not the weird jank way via copying folders to a computer first and then importing it to the new watch.

Sadly not, not really sure why Garmin has continued to avoid it. That said, it does actualy account for it in Body Battery, Stress, and Recovery times. Just not straight sleep times.
Investigate your strap material chemical composition. It causes rashes or contact dermatitis on so many people. Never had this issue with Withings silicone straps, even after weeks of constant wear.
sadly I jumped at the chance to join the Beta program thinking it would improve my EPIX PRO 2, I am not an advanced user but I do have 8 segment activity screens and the HR graph no longer shows, also the HR is massively out giving an error of over 30% to Samsung 5 pro. also got a bricking to the EPIX screen when trying to save activity for later ! all-round pretty basic use in SUP and Snorkel and obvious errors to reproduce. My advice is don't use the beta program, I've just read that to go backward you need a full reset of your watch and lose all your data. Thanks DC for the great detailed video though, I'm sure will get into the beta thing a little more romanticly when they start to release more reliability
My 4 Week elevation Gain only factors in non-navigated runs... Which is annoying because that's where I do most of my long runs. Has anyone else been experiencing this? Is there way around it, please?
If we could get the same team to sort out the buggy Edge *40 software that would be even more awesome. Navigation on the 1040 been useless for over one year since the product went on sale.
What's the issue nav-wise? I haven't had any issues navigating, and typically speaking if there's any place on earth bike computers struggle, it's in/around Amsterdam (due to the massive density of bike paths/routes).
@@Dcrainmaker Multiple reports on Support Forum that the nav feature keep on crashing the units to a point activities vanish not getting saved. Also the re-routing is a total mess.
@@VeloNippon I couldn't agree more, I have an 830 and rerouting is a dumpster fire. At times if rerouting is necessary (road closure due to a washed out road) it will freeze completely and show a "new/different" map screen. Not impressed

Everything. Sport profiles, etc... It'll be interesting to see where things land in this beta. When I tried it months ago as part of the Pro beta, they did allow Epix to Fenix series, and vice-versa. I assume/hope that continues.
What's the 'best value' watch you'd want for hiking/trailrunning that at least at GPX tracks? I'd ideally like a full map but could settle on GPX tracks if it brings cost way down. What I don't like about these watches is the cost for the lifespan given that batteries will give out.

Sadly, Garmin confirmed last night it was pulled at the last second for this build. It was on a list they had sent over for the Fenix 7/Epix Pro, and I didn’t catch that it wasn’t in there in reality. I had checked/used a lot of them, but missed that one. Sounds temporary.

I recall reading rumours of a Fenix 8 but that seems a bit soon after the Fenix 7 Pro. Either way, the 6 series is 4 years old now, so I'm guessing we're out of luck
On the plus side, it's nice knowing there won't be more than security updates and bug fixes to our watches. No sudden changes to how our widgets, profiles or hotkeys work. Got to admit, I'd like the weather radar overlay native on my watch along with the map/data screens for my hikes. None of the upgrades are worth buying a new watch at full price yet though.

On Garmins website toward the bottom of the page of whatever watch you are looking at, there is a "specs" tab, you can get there faster by minimizing the "overview" tab. Scroll through the specs until you hit the sections about sports features, running features, cycling features, outdoor features and so on. In each of these sections it will list relevant activity profiles the watch is capable of tracking, and Garmin considers Motocross an "outdoor" feature so you can go right to that section. I'm not sure if any Garmin watches beyond the higher end multisport models like the Fenix/Epix twins are capable of it. I was surprised to find it is not present on the Instinct, to me a G-Shock style watch and motocross is a natural pairing since you'll want something that can take some abuse. Edit: I misread "motorsport" as "motocross"
Speaking about "things might go wrong", since I updated my F7, Sleep, HRV and training status are not syncing anymore. I even updated to the 14.24 version, but still the same. Does anyone has the same issue?
That's tough. The Fenix 6X isn't getting any of these updates, but you're sorta now in-between. The Fenix 7 is 19 months old. The Fenix 7 Pro is 1 month old. But the Pro is effectively a mid-cycle update. My guess would be a Fenix 8 (or whatever) in Summer 2024 (no inside info, just a guess based on very consistent historical release patterns).

@@motomoto898 Very similar watches obviously, so it’s about 90% down to which form factor you like. However, note that the Epix Pro does include the newer gen optical HR sensor which will likely get ECG at some point. 965 doesn’t have that.
@@Dcrainmaker yeah true, and thanks for getting back. True about the HR sensors, the 965 has a higher pixel resolution compared to the 47mm pro (same as the 51mm though). The resolution difference seems pretty apparent, when the two are side by side.
Yeah, I had to scrap the one I shot, due to issues with the camera. It’s literally identical to the Epix guide though, features are exactly the same (except Redshift, which I note in it).

Yeah, on some watches it enabled by default, others of mine seem to require adding it: settings > system > hot keys > Hold back > recents.

I am sure, that there ist an option to Turn off notifications during an Activity.
Just check the notification settings.

I got confirmation it got delayed due to an issue, now slated for week of July 31st.
But this new software still has the Software Version 13.22 - Backlight Bug… Your backlight always turn on when viewing maps. No way to turn it off.

Yup, you'll go into the data field options for that sport profile, and then the map view itself, that's where you can adjust it.

On Garmins website toward the bottom of the page of whatever watch you are looking at, there is a "specs" tab, you can get there faster by minimizing the "overview" tab. Scroll through the specs until you hit the sections about sports features, running features, cycling features, outdoor features and so on. In each of these sections it will list relevant activity profiles the watch is capable of tracking, and Garmin considers Motocross an "outdoor" feature so you can go right to that section.
I'm not sure if any Garmin watches beyond the higher end multisport models like the Fenix/Epix twins are capable of it. I was surprised to find it is not present on the Instinct, to me a G-Shock style watch and motocross is a natural pairing since you'll want something that can take some abuse.

Speaking about "things might go wrong", since I updated my F7, Sleep, HRV and training status are not syncing anymore. I even updated to the 14.24 version, but still the same. Does anyone has the same issue?
HRV shows low everyday on my Epix (non pro) since the update, dropped from 70-80 to 30-40.
Is it high time to replace the fenix 6X sapphire with something newer?
That's tough. The Fenix 6X isn't getting any of these updates, but you're sorta now in-between. The Fenix 7 is 19 months old. The Fenix 7 Pro is 1 month old. But the Pro is effectively a mid-cycle update. My guess would be a Fenix 8 (or whatever) in Summer 2024 (no inside info, just a guess based on very consistent historical release patterns).

@@motomoto898 Very similar watches obviously, so it’s about 90% down to which form factor you like. However, note that the Epix Pro does include the newer gen optical HR sensor which will likely get ECG at some point. 965 doesn’t have that.

True about the HR sensors, the 965 has a higher pixel resolution compared to the 47mm pro (same as the 51mm though). The resolution difference seems pretty apparent, when the two are side by side.

Yeah, I had to scrap the one I shot, due to issues with the camera. It’s literally identical to the Epix guide though, features are exactly the same (except Redshift, which I note in it).
Any ETA for the Enduro 2 to get those updates, that is the question

How do you split the screen on the map? And the shaded map feature is that just done automatically?
Within the sport profile settings for data pages, then the map adta page. And yup, shading is done automatically.
