POV Kayak Fishing Tournament

- This is definitely one of my longer videos but I really want to show you guys all highlights of my tournament days. This tournament was out of Big Break (California Delta) and the 4th stop for the Yak-a-Bass series. I’ve had a very mediocre season with them so far. Could this be the tournament I turn things around?

Awesome vid. I really like how you note each bait every time you change it up. You have my follow
If there’s anything to take away from you as both an angler and a UA-camr, it’s consistency. You sure are consistent GB.
Damn, so close buddy.
Keep up the great videos! I really love your format because it is teaching all of us how, when, and what to fish in certain locations at certain time and much more.
Thanks for all of your hard work.
Tight lines!
Thanks, Joe! Happy to do it, glad they help!
Great video! Love how you say “thank you sir”! Always positive and looking forward to the next bite!
Second place is pretty good in my book! I'm pretty sure the other anglers are intimidated by your consistency! Good stuff!
Thanks, Jari! Good point! Haha, there are a lot of great fisherman in these tournaments so who knows!
Another great video recap. So fun to follow along! LT looked like it worked great out there.
Man love your tournament videos amazing. I got to fish my first online tournament in April great time finished 22 nd out of 47 anglers. & the same day u fished this tournament I fished my first live tournament the same day down in San Diego. Got skunked but love every minute of it. Thanks for what u do kayak fishing has made me a better bass anglers
Great stuff as usual Greg, could watch this all day
UNCLE LOOOOOOOOOJOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I learned so many new things watching your videos you’ve taught me everything I know and for that I thank you
Greg your a BEAST ON THE FISHING !!!! JUST AWESOME!!! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!!
jeez bro, you absolutely slayed them today!!!! dinks or not, I don't think I have ever seen a video with so many bass in the kayak. Good stuff man, I just want to go fish now lol
thanks man, appreciate it!
I hardly watch bass fishing bc I'm a saltwater guy, but dude, these tournament fishing vids. are killer. Keep em coming!
Thanks man, I appreciate it! Will do!
Great fishing! I like how you found the pattern and stuck with it.
Love this one. Second place 👍 Ordered a SP 12 LT based on what I saw. I like how you would stand up in a hurry and I didn’t notice the boat move hardly at all. Hope it is as stable as it looked and handles the wind just as well. Would have like a few comments on the 12 to help me feel confident on the purchase. It was between the 12 LT and the SP 10.
Congratulations Greg! Love your work and now I feel like I need a nap after that long day of fishing.
Thanks man! Haha, it was a long day but definitely fun. thanks for watching!
Man I'm always happy to see you catching them! Good job bro.
Thanks, Lou. appreciate it brother! When are you taking me on your new bass boat?!
Greg Blanchard when you coming!? I got storage for that Titan!
Great job Greg!! One inch!! Awesome video!
Thank you! Yep, so close yet so far! Maybe next time!
Like the video. Enjoy you fishing from the LT kayak. Reminds me of the old days in your previous kayak. Seems like it's less a hassle to fish from.
Thanks, Derek! You're 100% right.
Great job brother. Some nice fish. It's cool to see you try something new with that white swim jig. Like I told you before, it's a great one for me when nothing else works.
Thanks, Warren! That was the first time I had really gotten a good swim jig bite. Great bait.
Greg Blanchard I also like the white chatterbait. It's a comfort lure for me.
Can't wait for that clear lake vid know it's gonna be some sacks caught out there
I was so ready for that monster... keep up the awesome videos!!
Same here, Zac! Thanks man!
Damn what a day for you! congrats on 2nd. you crush keep crushing these tournaments! It looks like the grass is basically subsurface everywhere. How deep is that water you were flipping??
Good job Greg just needed that kicker awesome 👍🎣
Thanks, Dwayne! Just not met to be!
Dwayne Mcguire n
This video is sick dude.
So close! And to lose to Touch Her, of all people. Haha.
Good stuff, man!
Congrats on a great finish. Do you plan on doing a review for the Slayer LT? As someone who is interested in making the jump to a peddle driven kayak I would be very interested in your thoughts on the kayak now that you have spent some time fishing it. For myself (and I am sure many others), the LT opens the door to a peddle drive while still being able to transport it the same way as my paddle yak. Thanks a lot, and great video as always.
THanks, Matt! Yep, just filmed the review, should be out soon!. This think is nearly the same as my slayer 13 and it's super light weight which I love. I have a CTUG cart to which i've used with it and could probably cart this boat for a mile without any issue.
Thanks a lot, Greg! I can't wait to see it. Having never owned any yak other than OK Prowler 13 I am trying to get a sense of how much faster an LT would be at a "cruising" speed. There are lots of spots I found on Google Earth that have my name on them if I could just get to them at little more easily.
I enjoy the vids, where do I get the peg weights and stopper in your line?
I do the same thing one every fish caught after 5… “I think that will help” but then ends up being woefully short of helping
Congrats on 2nd place again dude.. just missed it!
Thanks man! an inch!
I wish I were as good as you... you catch more fish in a few hours than I have in a few years!
Your vids are the best. Best of luck.
THanks, William! Appreciate it.
Good job Gregg.
That 19 incher though! dang son!
Wassup Greg.. Just curious. How many guys you see in these Yak tourneys with your basic $300 - $400 kayak modified ( non pedal ). Need to bring mine up to the Dirty D soon... Tight Lines 🎣
Great day for sure Greg. I see you using braid on some of your rods. Do you tie braid directly to your hook or do you use a leader?
Thanks, Mike! I only use straight braid for punching/flipping and frogs. Only leader i used is with my spinning setups for dropshot/wacky rig with braid backing.
beast brother! keep the good contents coming :D lost the 1st place fish early haha
Greg, maybe I missed it, but did you mention the "why" behind your decision to fish out of the Propel LT over your Titan? Brad
Hey Brad, the current (and temporary) housing situation didn't allow me to store the Titan but I was fortunate enough to have the loaner LT on hand for the tournament and a few weeks of fishing out of it. Thanks for watching.
Greg, that's not a bad day man. You had a mix of quality and quantity haha. Keep grinding!!!
Thanks, Xavier! Yep, overall, can't complain. Fun day of fishing irregardless.
Greg, when you're pitching the Rage Menace, do you use straight braid? If yes, what lb test? If not, what kind of line setup do you use? Thanks!
what do you use to edit your videos? looks awesome!!
Another nice video... enjoyed it!!
THanks, Carlos!
Nice video. Nice quality fish!
Thanks, Ed!
awesome video bro, 2nd place thats awesome man
Thanks man! I'll take it!
Notice something fly over your head at 12:08-12:13 ? And nice catches
Good video. I like the GO-Pro angles that you presented because I can actually see the action in your field of vision. You found the pattern for the day. Too bad the first large fish was't in the boat. A 17" - 17.5" fish would have put you in first place.
Thanks, Steve. You got it, oh well, 2nd isn't too bad in my book!
Congrats on 2nd Greg.
THanks man!
Awesome video. Congrats bro!
Thanks, brother!
What's your opinion on using a trolling motor on a kayak in a tournament. It seems a little unfair. Idk tho I've never kayak fished
What setup do you use for flipping the rage plastic? Rod length and action? Reel speed?
It will and when it does you kick butt 👍🎣
Awesome video!
Another1!!!💯💪👊
Good day but dinks only. Keep up the good work
Lots of small fish for sure. Thanks!
My first kayak tournament I was in last year I had the lead at 93.25 and I didn’t measure them correctly. I had the coordinator of the tournament recheck them and finished in 5th with 43.00
what pound braid is that. flipping with braid seems like such a good idea but I never use it because I feel like to fish would see it
New video lets go !!!!
Yeah, Joe!
Great tournament Video as always - but i liked the other camera behind u more
Thanks, Sander! Yeah, me too.
nice work on the second place...too bad you couldn't get that 10lber to bite
What oz weight were u rigging ur punching setup with? Great vid bro
Thanks man, 1/2 oz
Wow. Your back.
This was a sweet video.
Thanks, Chris!
Quite a bit of Hmong people in the top 10. Congrats on the placing, Greg.
Yes there was David. Thank you!
Not gonna lie... I really thought you were gonna do that last fish... Great finish tho.. Good video!!!
What brand net are you using? Good vid!
Thanks man! foreverlast g2 landing net. should be in the description
great job bro
thanks man
realy thought you were going to pull out that 10, sure would've been the kicker!
If I had a limit already of at least 50 inches, there's no way I'd give up on a "10 lb bass" if I seen it in the water, I'd throw my whole tackle box at it until it was time to head back in.
I fished for that bass for as quite awhile. Problem is it spooked off most of the time I made a cast for it darting back into the hyacinth probably 20 yards. After about 30 min I figured it was a lost cause
Awesome video! It's gonna happen, only a matter of time...
Thanks man! I hope sooner rather than later!
Best Chanel our there
So close! You were getting them, just not the right ones. Beats getting skunked. Next time you'll win 😉
First time fishing from my kayak yesterday. Almost knocked my paddle in or every hookset
Owen Stewart man sounds like you're doing something right!
At least you're setting the hook!
Great video!
The length limit everywhere I fish often is 14" or bigger.
Greg I love ur vids man!! Don't those boots and pants get hot??
THanks, Rich! Ya know, I haven't really been bothered by the pants. The boots do at the very end of the day but nothing too crazy. I am going to keep a different pair of water shoes in the boat for this summer to change in/out of for sure.
Are you allowed to fish with a powered kayak in those tournaments
Yep, trolling motors area allowed so long as they're registered.
when your flipping grass and cover with that jig do they always hit it on the first drop?
Hey Greg, quick question for you and anyone else with some experience using these kayaks. Looking at the Slayer 12 PD, Slayer LT (like yours), or a Radar 115. Having owned two of those boats in the past. Which would you prefer for large lakes and tournament fishing?
great job bro..
Thank you!
Good tournament
THanks man
Love your video keep it up👌
THanks, Tommy!
A lot of people named Her !!!!!!
Great job !!!!
and they dominated!
What's the clip you used to hold your net called?
when are you anouncing the winner for the reel?
first world problems, Greg! A bunch of nice Fish not helping? what?
do you have some live feed of your competitors showing how many inches you need to Win? You are always spot on when you guess what you need to Win...
LOL. Yep, tourneyx is a live feed (so long as people upload therir fish) but I had a feeling it would be around 50'' based on my prefish and research of the area. Actually, I just went back there this morning and I know now that there was potential for a 60'' bag easy.
Yo greg i dont have my camera stuff all set up on my kayak yet, should i use a chesty or head mount for now?
Dropshot TV chesty
4:22 was that a salad four pounder
Thank you
Dude, you almost got first. That a way to show up and show out. :-)
Hey Greg: The reeds at 5:36 are suitable for putting such a light kayak entirely right into them, lobbing a texas rigged senko around, with unpegged 1/16oz bullet weight, gently retrieved and when it falls between reeds and gets bit, you simply reel gently so that the LT kayak literally glides through the reeds until it arrives at the waiting hung-up fish. 15lb braid is more than strong enough for this opposite-from-normal (but proven) technique.

hey Greg what kind of hooks are you using with the craw
Hey Eric. 5/0 Trokar straight shank flippin hooks
question so when you punch do leave the reel at casting like you do in this video?does it help or what?
casting will very but with all casts I just maintain semi tension in the line to feel the bite which usually happens on the fall.
+Greg Blanchard cool thanks. what kind of rod would you recommend for punching?
What size hook and weight do you use while flipping
1/ 2 oz weight, 5/0 flippin hook
Winter is killing me rn.
Where can I get the net your using?
does that kayak come with pedal drive?
Yep
what battery does he use for thr troll motor
Do you make money out of these or its just for fun?
There is prize money but it's just for fun
👊🔥
Damn that lost fish was a toad man.
Yeah man, it jumped but the gopro didn't get it in frame but it was a solid fish that would've certainly helped. Oh well, it happens!
Anyone else at the 10:00 mark have a mild panic thinking that he just released the fish without measuring/recording it?
