When Bill Paxton died, real stormchasers used their GPS tracks to spell out B.P. on the map of the United States.
Wild!
I was watching that live when it happened. Using the spotter network KML file to overlay it on the map.
RIP Bill Paxton & Phillip Seymour Hoffman. Great reaction Dasha!
Since no one else will say it...
RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman
I liked him! When you die from addiction, some people just write you off..
That was so sad. He was such an amazing talent.
Before The Devil Knows You’re Dead.
Outstanding

I like how the love triangle was handled in the movie. No villain, no scheming or manipulation, just three people arriving at their conclusions.
Yeah, that's pretty great about this movie. Usually it's such an easy hack-writer default to vilify the 3rd party, but real life is usually more nuanced than that. Felt the same way when I watched "Drive" they coulda made Oscar Issac's character a jerk, but he was really an ok guy stuck in a crappy situation.
@0:27 I worked construction with a Russian guy who struggled with the word "trailer".
Now we all loved him but... Obviously as men... We roasted him as much as possible; While he clowned us for our stupid American stuff... That said... When a cute girl (Dasha) struggles with the exact same word...
Absolutely adorable!

I am a huge fan of drive-ins! Where I live there are two drive-in’s within 12 miles of where I live and another one about 40 miles away. When we were raising our girls, we went to the drive-ins in the summertime almost every weekend. I think the favorites we saw according to the girls were the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. During that time there was only the first three the other two didn’t come out until later, but those were their favorites, or among their favorites, anyway, fond memories of them in their pajamas in the backseat with their favorite stuffed animals, their Blankey‘s, their pillows, their snacks and drinks, and usually a best friend or two each. Yes, it was hectic but you can’t replace the memories that it gives you.
❤❤❤

Drive-in movie theatres were awesome.
If you had a truck with a bed, you could back in, put the back down and lay down and watch the entire movie like that.
I loved going to them as a kid.
You also need to see the new movie Twisters (2024)
Agreed... Drive-in movies are awesome.
Drive-ins are a different experience for sure. You don't go to them expecting the comfort of the movie theater, but instead the comfort of your own vehicle, able to kick back with your own snacks and and simultaneously watch together with a bunch of other people and in isolation. Everyone should try one once at least.
I took my daughter to a drive-in in a nearby town when she was little, just so she could have the experience. One group of people there were grilling burgers.😂
When I was a kid, my mom and aunt would shell beans or shuck corn in the car while watching the movie.
You are correct, Dasha. It would have been impossible for them to survive that F5 at the end. Even if those straps held, they would have been shredded by debris swirling around them.
"An ordinary person spends their life avoiding tense situations. The Repoman spends his life getting into tense situations." -From the movie Repoman with Emilio Estevez. I was a repoman for 22 years in Atlanta, GA. That movie quote is true. There are many ways to get your adrenaline rush in life. Stealing bubba's truck at 2am is a suic!de mission, but someone has to do it.
"Intense!"
Thanks for sharing, Dasha. I always enjoy your reactions.
I was in an F4 tornado in 1994, in rural Illinois. It went through our backyard just as we were getting into the basement. You could feel the air pressure and the walls of the house were bowed in but the damage was limited to the roof and garage, fortunately for us. Just across the street was an old schoolhouse the entire top floor of it was ripped off, and one house was completely blown off the ground leaving only the basement. I helped get the family out of the basement where the father had covered his wife and 2 kids with his body and was bruised by debris but none of it hit the family! As much damage as was done, there was miraculously no one killed and only one severe injury!
The special effects in this film were mind blowing when it was new.
I'm not even 10 minutes in and Dasha's obsession with the divorce papers is cracking me up 😁
16:23 "That's a good truck, right?"
Yeah, the movie ended up functioning as a massive advertisement for Dodge Ram trucks. Not even kidding, their sales went up massively after the movie was released in the 90s XD
So many great/beloved, by me, actors in this. Sooo good
Ah Dasha, I'm an Aussie and I'm addicted to your accent. Seriously, I could listen to you talk all day. I don't know why, but I find it extremely relaxing.
in the beginning when the father is trying to hold the storm cellar shut instead of letting go is because at that time it was believed that the tornado would suck everything out if the door came off
About 10 years ago while in my car i saw a tornado coming across a field in my direction,, i pulled up against the wall of a motel. Tornado lifted me enough to slide my car about 5 feet.
the night my friends and i saw this in the theater, there was a tornado in my hometown in the suburbs of south of kc mo. huge thunderstorm on the way home with no visibility and i suddenly had to swerve around an upper floor of a house in the road. my friend in the passenger seat shouted "we have debris!"
I love this movie it's 28 years old and still looks incredible lol
This is basically a 2 hour commercial for Ram Trucks, and I love it lol
That little girl in the beginning is Alexa Vega
8:10 a storm chaser to weatherman is considered a downgrade to them
10:47 great line, "can I drive?" "No" "then would you?" Lol
11:50 another great line "are you mad?" "I'll be mad later right now I'm trying not to kill us" lol
12:09 "why can't we spend a normal day together?" Lol
12:50 "where's my truck?" "There it is" lol
15:57 there was an idea to make that cow a zebra instead to tie it into Jumanji which came out a year before this but they decided against it lol
24:24 one of the best shots of the movie is when the tornado goes through the movie screen
28:10 you might have missed it but their fingers are all bandaged up from cutting those cans lol
30:51 those are actually fence posts going into the barn which actually happens I've seen pictures of one that went through a concrete curb it's insane
You can actually see the path the tornado took at the end
R.I.P. Bill Paxton. The only person in movie history to be k I’ll ed by: a Terminator, Predator and an Alien.
Don't forget God's hand
@
I am not following you?
No, he shares that with Lance Henriksen.
Why does someone always have to make this comment? Is it for attention? To be cool?
@@SurvivorBri why does someone always have to be nasty in a comment section?
This is a ridiculously rewatchable movie.
10:07 One thing I’ve never understood is how Dr. Reeves has a cellphone signal. This part of the country is not exactly heavily populated or industrialized, yet she can have prolonged phone conversations with clients in another state. Nowadays, this would not be surprising, but in the ‘90’s, cellphone technology hadn’t really caught on, yet.
6:43 “He wants to _go!”_
Oh, yes. Bill’s a dyed-in-the-wool storm chaser.
The original. Storm cellar not basement. I used to go to church down the road from Wakita ... been within a few miles of tornadoes when I lived in Tornado Alley for 25 years. Average 1000 tornadoes per year in the US. EF5 tornado (strongest) removes asphalt from the road surface, destroys any building. In Oklahoma you watch the sky. I have seen scary skies. Biggest tornado 2.5 miles wide, 4 storm chasers killed in 2013, W of OKC.
Loved the special effects. When I worked at Universal Studios Florida in the 90's they had a ride based on that movie, it was awesome!
Now you have to watch Dante's Peak, which is this movie's spiritual sibling!
So true! One of my favorite and absolute forever most memorable movies I grew up with and one that inspired me to become a Geologist! 👏🏻❤️💯🇺🇸🤠🙏🏻
I was in a tornado, Kalamazoo, Michigan, 13 May 1980. When it went over our house, I was coweirng in the basement. The air pressure fell very quickly and I could feel my ears pop. I grew up knowing about tornados and lived through many watches and warnings, but I was very scared that time.
i lived in a small town surrounded by hills on three sides and watched a tornado (F3) jump over the town. sounded like a long 100 car freight train was flying by at full speed
I love you Dasha. Keep up the good reactions.
your air pressure comment was correct
I've only seen your dog on occasion when he shows up in the background while you're recording, and he really is a beautiful dog. You should show him off a bit 😄
I believe he's still a puppy, which means he's likely to seek attention during any 2-hour long videos. Probably makes filming difficult.
On Victoria Day in 1996, a tornado, or at least a severe storm destroyed a screen at a Drive-In theatre showing 'Twister', near my hometown. I still don't get tired of watching it.
@0:37 So hurricanes/cyclones/typhoons are different than tornadoes/twisters...
Having said that; Hurricanes/cyclones/typhoons can all cause (and often do cause) tornadoes.
Drive-In's are worth doing. There's plenty of them out there. Some have double features. It's only as comfortable as the vehicle you are in. The sound is piped into your car speakers too. So again, it's only as good as the car you're in. The screens are big enough that every one can see. I HIGHLY recommend going to one. Bring friends.
They knew how to make a great movie in the 90's ❤
*R.I.P. Bill Paxton,* taken way too soon from this world.
Indeed. He directed (and acted in) a wonderful, criminally underrated horror thriller called "Frailty." Well worth a watch, I wish reactors would pick up on that gem.
@@rexmundi2986 I agree as well. I, too, highly recommend *_Frailty_* to any reactor. 😉
@31:40 in all reality the wind and debri would've ripped their bodies apart.
How much Russian does Hugo understand?? 😅 ALSO, I love hearing Dash say "laboratory" , it reminds me of Dexter; IFYKYK!!
When I was a kid there was a drive-in theater close to where I lived. Back then, the car was very spacious, and we could watch the movie fine as kids. Never did it in a romantic setting, by the time I was old enough to pay for a movie with my own money there were no more drive-ins. I guess the experience would be half way between a movie theater and a movie sitting on the grass in a park. Environmental noise like in the park, enclosed area like in the theater, comfort half way between one and the other.
The sound was kind of lousy, but I'm guessing with the current technologies if you could connect a Bluetooth signal to your car speakers it wouldn't be bad. I just don't think there aren't any more left.
Just subbed
You're an excellent reactor keep up the good work 🌹☮️
i feel so bad for Melissa. she did nothing wrong.
edit: Melissa deserved better.
I got to see Twister at a drive in when it first came out.. it was awesome! I absolutely love drive in theaters. There’s just something about them. Unfortunately most of them have all closed and we only have 1 left in the area.
0:35 I learned something new. I never realized this movie was about hurricanes. I thought it was about tornadoes. 😁
Drive-ins are fun. If you get the opportunity you should go. If your friend has a truck, even better.
I survived an f-4 tornado in Aug 1993 in Petersburg Virginia USA when I was 6 years 8 months old with wind speed of 210mph and once you see it firsthand you never see it in any other way
I always hated how Melissa(Jamie Gertz) ended up. Such a nice, beautiful and intelligent lady. The end was not realistic. Bill & Jo would have been impaled by debris moving at 250-300 mph. They died. The ending was all Hollywood.
The real deal in a tornado is the debris. It's impossible they would survive in a little wood cabin because the minimum splinter is going to flying at incredible speed and you will be get.
Now I want to see Dasha go to Tornado Alley with real Storm Chasers in one of those tank-like vehicles they use...her reactions would be priceless.
Fun fact: Helen Hunt's character's childhood dog is the same breed as Toto from The Wizard of Oz.
I didn't realize 'till this summer that Young Jo is played by Alexa PenaVega a.k.a. a motherlovin' Spy Kid.
Dasha , you mentioned drive-in theaters and you are correct in the summer they usually uncomfortable because of the heat. But in America they were well known as passion pits for teenagers and even beyond that age. I certainly seemed to spend many weekend Friday nights in one . There were plenty of them back in the day but today you are lucky if there is one in your area, there is one in my area. The high tech world of today has practically eliminated them. I left a lot of memories back in that time,, but no you wouldnt be comfortable and If its raining you need to run your wipers to see the screen and if its cold weather you will need to run your heater. With all that said If I could repeat that time the same way I would.
Thank you for your reaction Dasha. This is a very entertaining movie. But as someone who has lived my entire life in Kansas. (66 years) I have seen my share to tornadoes in my life. This movie had a lot of scenes that were used for dramatic license. Any real storm chaser would not take the chances these storm chasers took in this movie. Not if they valued their lives.
I agree that the main character treated his fiance like crap. I enjoyed the movie when it first came out in a campy sort of way, but the writers made Bill Paxton's character a pure jerk. Helen Hunt's character wasn't much better. They both treated Melissa like an outsider with no feelings and didn't feel one ounce of guilt.
Just thought you might be interested to know that I actually worked on the satellite GEOS. I worked at the company Hughes Aircraft Corporation from 1982 to 1992. GEOS stands for geostationary earth orbiting satellite, which means that the satellite stays in a fixed position relative to the earth. It’s main use was as a weather satellite.
23:20 If you ever visit the United States 🇺🇸 and are around the Dallas - Fort Worth area of Texas, I’d love to take you to a Drive-In Movie Theater that they have near Downtown Fort Worth that is such an awesome and amazing experience to see! ❤🤠💯🎥
I survived an f4 tornado in Petersburg Virginia on Aug 6th 1993 once you see it firsthand you never see it in any other way with wind speeds of 210mph
Dasha, did you recognize Wesley from Princess Bride? 🙂
Great reaction Dasha. You're right. This movie is different, but in a good way
For a great Bill Paxton (RIP) film, see
A SIMPLE PLAN (1998)
Bill Paxton, Billy Bob Thornton
For a good Helen Hunt film, see
AS GOOD AS IT GETS (1997)
Jack Nicholson, Helen Hunt,
Greg Kinnear.
I live in Minnesota, and we get tornadoes. We used to get much more severe ones, and I remember seeing two, perhaps three, at once in 1967 when a series of them went through the northern suburbs of Minneapolis. I used to have nightmares about it and that image has stayed in my mind. They are very ominous looking and very unreal.
enjoyed your reaction 👍☺
The image that always sticks in my mind about this movie is the cow.
R.I.P. Bill Paxton, your Twister chasing days have ended but fret not, there was a new storm-chasing crew in the sequel
I hope you get a chance to go to a drive-in movie. It is very romantic with your partner or a great time with your friends. The part that makes it great is that your are in your car and can talk and have fun or do some cuddling, things that you really can't do in a theater.
So cool Dasha got the Dorothy reference!!!
Another great reaction with Dasha!!!
Thank you Dasha ❤ Another great reaction ❤
Wow really surprised you hadn't seen this. Both are really good.
If you ever want to learn more about tornadoes and storm chasing, there’s a guy on UA-cam called Pecos Hank. He just put out his “best of 2024” video
Great movie, still holds up today. You can feel the tornado's. Good cast (RIP Bill Paxton). Always love your honest reactions, you'r such a sensitive russian girl.
Keep up the great work Dasha!
14:04 😂 Nicely done ✔️ Dasha! ❤
Hello Dasha!😊 I like your top!👍🏻 I have never seen that one before. I did not realize this film was that old. Bill Paxton looks a lot younger here, RIP. 🙏🏻 Breathing would definitely be difficult in a tornado. I went to many drive-in theaters growing up, and I have many fond memories. They used to have metal speakers you hooked on your window, before switching to a radio signal years later. Then, you most people used their car radio. At the snack bar you could get popcorn, hotdogs, hamburgers, fries, clam fritters, ice cream, and drinks. The food was cooked and under hot warmers, and the drinks were already poured on ice. You could bring lounge chairs and sit outside, if you did not want to be in the car. Great reactions to this well made disaster film, Dasha!!!🎬👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Happy Holidays to you, your sister, Hugo, and your family back in Russia!😊
8:15: the requirements needed for a TV weatherman are a lot lower than research related meteorology. So it's an insult. Not saying there isnt good TV mets out there as they do exist, but the science part gets lost in the mass media market.
I would love doing this job 😃... if it weren't for the deadly killer storm part.😒
i'm from Moore, Oklahoma... I've seen some of the biggest tornados in history.
Drive In Theater Tip: Rent a truck... put a couch in the truck bed. You'll thank me later.
This movie has a great soundtrack. I always enjoy watching this movie! RIP Bill Paxton 💐
Hi Dasha! Merry Christmas 🎁🎄 ❤
I like "Into The Storm".(2014) better has a tornado movie.😊😊
Would like to hear.Dasha say..." That's what she said" In Russian
Thumbnail looks clean 😄
I agree with you that they are doing a lot of good but I have a feeling they would be chasing tornadoes no matter what they just found a way to do good with their obsession and also get funding to keep doing what they live for. On an interesting fact note sometimes when two twisters, like shown, become entwined they look like a giant pair of tornado legs walking across the land.
I bought you a nice shirt with your name on it, it's written in brail. That was a naughty joke, sorry:)
Yeah i thought it was a sequel for twister too but nope, if anything its an anthology so its different people in the new movie 🤷🏻♂️ this is the better movie tho
It was Wesley said as I you wish to the Tornado. That makes no sense but I had to say it.
I saw this in the theater when it came out and then later that night we had storms with tornado warnings, it was intense. I live in Northeast Arkansas, where we get a lot of tornado activity twice a year now, I'm a trained storm spotter, I go out into storms that may produce tornados and look for signs, so that I can report it to officials who can verify it and issue warnings, if needed. Oddly enough, there closet call I've ever had, I was standing in my driveway and an F2 tornado came within 5 miles of my house, I was standing in 60+mph/97+kph wind gust and getting hit with sand, I was super exfoliated afterwards.
This might be the only movie where Cary Elwes speaks with an American accent. Sounds like a Western country boiii
Remember Liar Liar?
if you like this movie dasha please i ask you to look into the sequal twsiters, night of the twisters, and into the storm, and maybe even the day after tommorow.
Love the shirt
Дашенка, я без ума люблю тебя!🥰
A movie that I would love to be with you to watch is Dragonfly starring Kevin Costner. I think you will love it.
Just a Fun Fact. Tornadoes' pressure drop is more destructive than the wind itself. When the pressure drops so fast houses expand like a balloon ripping out nails and some screws. Once the fasteners are defeated nothing is left to hold the structure together and a house can be blown over like a house of cards. Mom actually was in a building surrounded by a tornado once. The building was a new US Courthouse built after the Oklahoma bombing with some upgrades added because of that event. The new trees were laid down like a ring of dominos. Mom's office at that time was next to a vault built much like the shelters sometimes used in homes in tornado threat areas. My own WV while not immune, rarely gets powerful tornados due to the mountains breaking up circular wind patterns. The one that hit the Charleston Courthouse took a bit of roof off a nearby tower but damage was minor compared to what one sees in the plains.
Corporal Upham from Saving Private Ryan
Great reaction Dasha!. It was obvious you really liked this movie. Watch the next movie(Twisters) and decide which one you like best. 👍👸❤
This movie was so bad on so many levels.. When they're dodging things flying around them that weigh several times what that pickup weighs yet it's not affected in the least by the wind is so ridiculous.
@14:00 Dasha beat me to it...
Dasha 🍒
If you weren't from a really wealthy family the whole entire family would go to the drive-in in the station wagon if you had one and we would get to watch the first movie we would all have our pajamas on and then we would have to go to sleep because the second one was for adults they were way cool
'Wondered whether you recognized Jeremy Davies in the chaser crew as Upham from SAVING PRIVATE RYAN.
go to drive inn back in truck hav your chairs and cooler in the back its very comfortable take all your friends its great.
