I like how every comment section for pieces like this is filled with students who are either practicing or have preformed the piece. such a niche group of people
If there was UA-cam when I was in high school, I would have been right there. Being able to listen to how it's supposed to sound every time I practiced might have helped me become more advanced.
I sit here lying in bed depressed at 5:30 in the morning, thinking back to the last honors band I was in, playing this, before Covid, the last time I think that I was truly happy
Same thing happened here. My band was gonna play this, Equus (Eric Whitacre), Abram’s Pursuit (David Holsinger), and one other. It would've been such an amazing concert.
I had the trumpet solo a few years ago in 9th grade, brings back so many memories! At the time I was going through a lot of different things and music was an escape for me, and listening to this makes me wanna cry lol
i remember everyone in my band screaming "we got a one" "we're going to state" at out first contest, and i'll forever remember this as "the song we played at state" :)
Me and my best friend at the time, shared the oboe and trumpet solo together in middle school and it was such a defining moment in our friendship. I hope you come across this in your nostalgia trip one day and read this and remember the memories and endless hours we spent perfecting this transition and piece with our group. Such a lovely and simpler time. To go back I’d give literally every ounce of existence… Have a great day guys remember to practice and always revisit old pieces you’ve played. It’s such a bittersweet taste of the past
Played this back in high school, down the street from a Sonic. Nobody could get that end rhythm until our band director sang it as, “Let’s go to Sonic! Let’s go to Sonic now! Let’s go to Sonic right away!” 😂❤
I played the trumpet solo in high school 10 years ago, and it is something I will always remember. Being in front of so many people (probably thousands), heart racing fast, and then I just take a deep breath and play it. One of the moments in my life that I can truly be proud of. I miss those days. I have been lucky enough to be able to continue playing during college just for fun, and to my surprise our band is playing this song. All of the emotions and memories from back then come rushing back every time we play it.
@@dragonstories6718 I played this last year when I was in 8th grade. We played it at the Music of All Festival. I'm in 9th grade and I'm the only girl in my section full of 5 other guys. You got this! Play loud and full! :)
YESSSSSSSSSSSS, I was in 7th grade, first year in Honor band fresh out of beginner band. I literally loved it. I played the Flute/Piccolo, I switched during the song. It was an amazing part.
I love this piece sooo much, my band is playing it now... and I’m the only euphonium😅 Yay to having melodies that are actually solos now🥲 Though, I really do like this piece a lot! WHERE IS MY EUPH GANG AT?!
This is an awesome piece of music!! I had never heard it. I'm doing homework for my Concert Band Literature class, and this song started playing after the piece that I'm supposed to be listening to finished. I'm glad I let it move on to the next song. You never know what piece you will stumble upon.
Played this is the top band at my band camp along with Lustspiel, With Zeal Unceasing and Echoes from a Russian Cathedral. Very good combination of music, had a lot of fun playing it.
My band did this piece for contest this year, and I had part 3 clarinet. Really fun piece to play. We ended up coming in second in our biggest competition this year with this piece!
I’m a 9th grader percussionist and i play xylophone, bells, and vibes on this song. I have to play it this semester and my band director wants to play it at full speed😭 my arms are gonna die y’all, wish me luck.
Im love this price I’m a 9th grade Ron high school that plays flutes, we have a week or two to learn this plus another peices by paul murtha, we are going to play these at kings islands after do whatever we wants too’s lmaooslols
I've never been able to find a video to help with the intervals between the f and c on clarinet, they're not hard notes but the transition between both without retounging just sounds squawnky
@dannyli9129 haha didn't realize I commented this. I have since greatly improved and discovered what voicing was. Turns out I just needed a little more air support and actually curved fingers made it easier to quickly transition
We were so close to playing this last year for competition, but almost everyone complained about it being too hard that the teacher ended up choosing Medal of Valor and Fairest of the Fair 🥲

I’m doing this for regional band, and I just wanted to hear it before I started working on it.
I’m in 7th grade and we are going to play this for our UIL music, I got Mallet Percussion 😊
Just played this piece a few weeks ago. I’m in 8th grade. I played 1st Trombone.
It's a like a news intro for the first part of the piece
I sit here lying in bed depressed at 5:30 in the morning, thinking back to the last honors band I was in, playing this, before Covid, the last time I think that I was truly happy

The slow part with the trumpets gave me chills. My best friend had the solo and sounded just like that it was amazing!

Sounds like a fun piece to play. Can't wait to play it with my band someday. I'm a music education major.

We played this my senior year of high school and we did pretty good but the transitions are crazy
played this for district contest, really great piece
Trumpet. I just really love the solo for Trumpet 1
Not enough euphoniums talking about this piece. Really fun part for us, which is not something we usually get.
I know right! I'm a euph player. I played this last year when I was in 8th grade. I'm now in 9th grade and I still go back and play it lol.
I just played this today for parade of bands, a fellow euph here 💪💪
Nice chart.
My band director told us she wants the music to dance. She wants it to do Choreography, if you will
