Three on order: one in ConnDOT, one in Metro North, one in Amtrak. Will look great on my club's Hudson Valley themed layout. I rode behind these as a kid on Metro North and Amtrak all the way until the FL9 farewell trip in 2005. I never got to ride behind one again even though they stayed in service until roughly 2009: whenever I went over to the branch lines, they weren't running. Will be nice to finally have my favorite diesel locomotive as a model.
The 2000s was an interesting time to go train watching along Metro-North's territory east of the Hudson River because sometimes you'd see a New York Central heritage FL9 and a New Haven heritage FL9 in the same train. I've seen that happen before and it was cool to see that happen. So if you buy both a New York Central heritage FL9 and a New Haven heritage FL9, it would be prototypical to lash them up in the same train if you want to do that.
@@rapidotrains I would buy the Viewliners! I haven't bought much in HO Scale in the last several years, but I would DEFINITELY splurge if you guys were to do a run of the Viewliner I's and II's!!
You forgot to mention the fact that at the same time that Metro North, Conrail, Penn Central, & Amtrak acquired FL-9 locomotives, MTA's LIRR (Long Island Railroad) acquired about ten FL-9 engines for our passenger/commuter lines. Please mention that next time, and show the LIRR some love and appreciation, as the FL-9 & the GP 38-2 's are my favorite locomotives, along w/ the GP40, GP50 & M3 LIRR trains
@@rapidotrains Well, I did in fact manage to get my hands on MERR 489! A little sad it doesn't have the warning lights above the cab like the real engine does, but I do also get why. So far it's performed admirably on my layout, though, and the overall detailing is otherwise excellent! Besides, it's an engine that operated on my hometown's branchline. How could I not be excited about owning a model of it?
These are absolutely gorgeous! I've preordered too many things this year lol (notably 2 EP-5s), I'll wait and see if y'all do another run of the non-modernized ones in the future.
I dunno if you guys consider requests from youtube comments, but have you guys considered doing Canadian electrics like the GF6C or those CN boxcabs (Z-1s I think?)
Great job on these. One concern on the Maine Eastern (a unit I was keenly interested in). Based on the imagery here it looks like it has the wrong shade of green, it should be a deeper green. Is that just a trick of the lighting?
Hey Rapido Trains, excellent video! Is it still possible to purchase these FL9's or were these part of last years pre-order? The Maine Eastern units used to run right through where I live for years and I would love to be able to have them on my layout at home.
Don't give up! Keep money aside, and an eye out for it on Ebay (or in your area if there's a local hobby shop!) Sooner or later, luck will fall in your favor!
Are you guys going to be doing a re run the c40-8m’s. I just wanted to say you guys are awesome with the involvement in the community, when I go to your guys videos all the comments have answer from you guys!
NYC's law banning diesels wa created after 2 steam engines crashed into each other in the Park Avenue trench in 1908. The smoke obscured the signals in a confined space, so NYC banned all locomotives that created emissions.
You should check out some of my reviews of your products! I'm currently scratch building an H.O. scale version of a section of Grand Central Terminal in anticipation of both the ConnDOT/Metro North Commuter Railroad cars and cabs when they come out. I will do a UA-cam video review on my channel. I've basically been purchasing a lot of you guys passenger cars only lately! Not only do they look great, THEY DON'T DERAIL!!!!! All of my Rapido Trains Inc equipment is looked at as an investment!
Right... Fairbanks...reMorse. Perhaps a reason to get a New Haven model would be to pull my Tyco 50' plugdoor boxcars! I have 20 of them. Jason would probably 👍 approve. John. Kamloops, BC
? First you scared me. The FL 9 was built by EMD GENERAL MOTORS between 1956 to 1960 to their retirement in mid 2000's. As for FAIRBANKS MORSE never saw any on the East Coast only 8n scale model in HO SCALE by IHC in the late 1980's & 1990's. The FP 9 engines are a dead ringer except for their trucks. Both are classic F Units I love no doubt as a railroaders. 😀👍🚄🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃
Greetings Jordan. Love the jazzy beat introduction. Great video of the Fl9's
We were snapping our fingers the whole time.

Great video as always! Good to see Jordan has tons of free time on his hands!
He's a really useful engine!
Amtrak GP40’s & Viewliners! Those need to be done at Rapido quality!
We'll keep them in mind for the future!

Zobby. Best actor yet! Awesome looking locomotives!
The Oscars are right around the corner!
Hopefully the Shoreliners are next, good job with the FLs Locomotives!

Those Metro North FL9’s look good!
It sure is pretty!
Great seeing Bobby in the video. He's a good dude!
He's one of the goodest dudes we've ever met!
These look really good!
Thank you!
If the Maine Eastern is involved, then I guess Rapido officially has my business. Anything hailing from my home State is a welcome sight!
Something for everyone!

Ah, I love you guys.

So beautiful, learned alot just from this video, would love to have a New Haven set...
Thanks for watching!
I always liked the MN "Beach Ball" paint scheme. Very colorful.
It sure is pretty!
Another Amazing engine by Rapido! Wish you guys would do straight GP40's and GP38's
So many engines, so little time!

Wow! Very nicely done. Jordan needs to stick to grouting. One point, as memory serves, the FL-9s revved up before starting to move.
Blame the editor! Though Jordan does grout like a boss.
You guys did Maine Eastern 489! Hooray!
We did! And it's gorgeous!
I dunno if you guys consider requests from youtube comments, but have you guys considered doing Canadian electrics like the GF6C or those CN boxcabs (Z-1s I think?)
They've definitely been considered, along with so many other unique Canadian prototypes. We want to do ALL the locomotives!

Fluorescent lights are tricky with greens, but rest assured we got a paint sample from the source!
It’s the correct color. That’s what they looked like with the fresh paint. Check my Maine Eastern videos for reference
Awesome looking locomotive. I get to do part of my German presentation for my German class.
Right on!

We're sold out on our end, but there may be some available through any of our dealers.
Very nice 👌 👍 👏 😀
Thanks a lot! 😊
I like how you guys give jordan a lot of "real" jobs. I do those type of jobs too.
He's a jack of all trades.
You guys need to check out where the ConnDot is today 2011 was used on cape cod as the polar express Christmas train. And ya more 90’s Conrail!!!
We're big fans of Big Blue!
I still might grab one of those ConnDot FL-9 for my Layout. Mass Coastal railroad has 2 of those units.
I voulenteer at a scenic railroad and we actually have a couple metro north FL9’s.
That sounds amazing!
You guys should do the GP40TC from GO Transit!
This is a fantastic idea! Jason needs to know about this.

I spotted that Chicago South Shore poster one the back left, possibly a future model?
Anything's a possibility!
You guys should make some gallery bi levels. Very nice and Kato only makes some in HO.
That would be cool!
I’m torn on if I should buy one in Amtrak’s phase 2 or in the New York central lightning stripe scheme
An impossible choice!
First! Love that sax at the beggining!
Yeah, we thought it was pretty funky.
Me first, but why doe
Um. Was that intro a tease for an F59 project or something?
F59s are already in production!

Maybe one day! We did do the earlier versions in N a few years back.

I like the Handcock whistle
It certainly has a distinctive sound
@@rapidotrains yeah
Just curious why you didn't show a model with the ditch lights installed?
The ditch lights were added quite late in life so they are a user-installed part. I don't think Jordan wanted to drill holes in his engines! 😄
Out of curiosity, do these locos have a Co-Bo wheel arrangement? The bogie (truck) configuration suggests that they do.
They are B-A1A

The front truck is a B truck, and the rear a A1A

Maine Eastern, fine, why not, but then no Orford Express? Sheesh!
Maybe in the next run!
Since the FL9s have Hancocks, will the Phase I Metrolink F59PHs have 3-chime Ohio Brass Air Whistles.
Yes that’s the plan
