Rapido visits the Conrail Onondaga Cutoff in HO Scale

- Janet, Dan and Jason visit Dave Abeles's HO scale Conrail Onondaga Cutoff layout in New Jersey. Dan and Jason then use the LRC shuttlecraft to make a surprise visit to Tony Koester's Nickel Plate St. Louis Division Third Sub layout.

I also love Dash 8's! In fact the Rapido Draper Taper (that apparently some people complained about the lack of details on...) one is my first Rapido locomotive and is one of my best running HO locomotives, even on plain DC! I would not be opposed to another run of them though if it ever happened. :D

Fun video! I hadn't seen it before. And, one point of correction for Dave Abeles (which may have already been commented on elsewhere, sorry if I'm repeating) - the DeWitt Diesel house was not built by Penn Central but by New York Central - my Dad and uncles worked there. In fact, the fueling station you simulated in your layout is where my Dad worked his final several years before retirement under PC. I do love seeing your layout, Dave, because of the images of my home town area. Cheers! And thanks for a good, fun video!

Great video...you guys are the best. Janet's knowledge of the Onondaga was encyclopaedic! You'd almost think she was coached by Dave! LOL. I enjoyed seeing the Morristown & Erie C424s. Illinois Railway Museum just acquired #18, although it will be returned to original TP&W livery. In any event...well done on the video!

Funny video and I really like the layout. One of the few layouts I go back to read about and study the track diagram in Model Railroader. He fits a lot of track in a small space.

and if Janet knows that much about Conrail and the old NYC lines. would love to go out for diner some time , she can tell me all about it. since I model the Caso back in the days Conrail ran it through St Thomas. Janet will have to drive herself home mind you . will be hard enough telling my Wife i am only going out to talk trains.
on a side note, really like the 40 foot box cars, any plans on doing a CASO ( Canada Southern) paint on some of them ?

Depending on how the first run of Comets do, we may do the center door versions later.

That was the demonstrator scheme from the 1970s. It ran with those cars on demonstration.
Rapido team... why isn’t the enterprise LRC a released product. It is too amazing. From a fellow captain to you ;) just don’t tell Quark about this.
It was produced in 2015 in very limited quantities as a fundraiser for the Lung Association.

There were a handful of these made for a fundraiser about 10 years ago and weren't available for retail sale.
I'm going to soon get my first lrc rapido train but it's in the Amtrak version on Ebay
