@DanielOrtegoUSA What's your view on going into battle in a scenario with drones like in Ukraine now? It feels like Ukraine (and cheap drones) changed warfare forever...
The Abrams X is a testbed maybe 70% of this tech will be used. The US army is reluctant to give up it's 4th crew member and the autoloader. Tho i could imagine keeping the 4th member on as a WSO (Weapon System officer) that would control the drone as well as defensive systems and as a pair of extra eyes defending the tank and extra set of hands during field maintenance.
Quite similar in concept to the K51 Panther: the fourth crew member will be an intelligence specialist, UAV operator, artillery observer, etc., but not a loader.
@@woiace i know right? I hope they at least keep the gunner and commander in the turret and put the fourth crew member sitting in the hull beside the driver. It will be disorienting for the commander and gunner to face one direction while the gun is facing the other.
Autoloaders aren't always a good idea have you ever considered why Abrams don't have one. It's cause the ammo when the loader isn't grabbing a fresh round to load up is behind a big plate of steel in a ammo compartment. So unless your hit while he is grabbing a round you don't have to worry about the ammo all going off at once. But with a autoloader you can get hit at any time in a the turret and have it explode on you and kill all of your crew before they even have a chance to escape.
@@SasoriZert of course its faster... depends on the stamina of the 20+ year old slinging the rounds. We're just discussing here keeping the 4th crew man if they DO keep the autoloader. None of these systems arent adopted yet.
@@SasoriZert Autoloaders don't *necessarily* need to be built shitty like Russia's - you can have blow out panels and such, basic safety features, even with an autoloader.

The main problem with these futuristic tanks is that during a war, when satellites are knocked out, the firing systems on these weapons won't be able to target the enemy like the older tanks.
In that case all bets are off and conventional warfare isn't really on the table anymore, taking down strategic US war assets is invitation to pressing the big red button since those satellites are part of America's nuclear early warning system

It's greatest ability upgrade seems to be that it will remotely share the info of what destroyed it to air assets. The air assets can then destroy whatever it was that targeted our tank. Turtle 🐢 slat armour + magnetrons are added protection aganist drones & anti armour projectiles ..
We're ditching tanks. Troops and air strikes are more effective. It looks dope tho. & its always good to see something obsolete try evolve pass its time. It may even help create other transferable tech.
I’ve been thinking tanks need to go hybrid a long time now. I’d make some of the bogie wheels flat motors. If you loose a track you can escape on the bogie wheels.
Putting tanks from the 70's and 80's on the field against modern AT weaponry and lack of combined arms .. of course you are going to believe tanks are doomed
If elon musk made a tank😂
Your bright and cheery narration almost made me forget that these machines are made for killing people.
That is one really cool looking tank!
I would not want to be in a tank no matter how good it was supposed to be coming up against something like the Javelin.
The tank looks really cool!
As cool as something like this can be, stronger isn’t always better. Imagine the price for something like this, meaning you would probably have less tanks overall due to the price. And the war against russia and Ukraine has showed that expensive isn’t always better
I don't believe the united states is going to loose power ratio from it's current turbine engine to go to a diesel engine.
Autonomous operation in specific circumstances, eh?
How long before an A.I. tank, its crew dead attacks the enemy, wipes them out, and earns a CMH?
It's greatest ability upgrade seems to be that it will remotely share the info of what destroyed it to air assets. The air assets can then destroy whatever it was that targeted our tank. I prefer the AI package and the tank operating as an unmanned vehicle. At least in high threat environments. But something tells me we are still a long way from being able to do that efficiently and effectively.
Well that's one way to make sure our defense spending stays higher than our national debt's interest payments. Wait what you mean we're using debt to pay for these?
Such a beautiful machine
Where the hell are the lazers I ordered ???
Did everybody miss the terminator movies? AI in tanks?......
Cool so this is the tank we’re making for the machines to use against us?
Why laser, its must be posible to produce a passiv visual rangefinder.
While a passive visual rangefinder can be effective, laser rangefinders offer greater accuracy and instant measurements.
