Gail & Alex- When you are mud larking, carry a small gold pan with you. If you find a piece of jewelry pan the dirt in the immediate area down 2-3" and you may find the stones from the piece.
Excellent advice, F.K. Burnham. ( : By panning, they could also capture other heavies such as gold, silver, etc. Where there's one heavy, there's more.
Exceptional idea!!!
love the bird fragment
Still watching the video,I love that bone sewing thing,I can only imagine how wonderfully tactile it must be!
I have a nice story for you, back in September,London,Greenwich,on the Thames foreshore,by Cutty Sark.
I found a silly little bit of gift shop tat,a cast resin thing,it was a charming little English cottage.
I didn’t want to keep it,so I made my way up the stairs, and startled two French girls, tourists, and they backed away from me,as I was a mudlarky mess!
I don’t speak French,but I said to them”no,no! Cadeau!”
My attempt at saying ‘a gift!’
I set it down on the sidewalk, and went back downstairs.
Back on the foreshore,I looked up,and the girls were holding the little cottage, and they smiled at me and waved,in appreciation!
They understood.
I waved back, and went about my way,and found lovely things that afternoon.
You guys deserve all the admiration you receive and more. You take us on a journey, raise up are spirits and make us laugh.
I now have 2 favourite duos on UA-cam. Northern Mudlarks and Ghost Theory. All of you are such beautiful souls and you are interesting, fun, honest people who enrich the lives of people like me!! If there was a an award for best UA-camrs, it would go to both of you guys in my opinion!! Appreciate all of your hard work!! Much love!! Rebecca. Xx
Gail & Alex, it's so much to watch your first mudlark of 2023. I think my favorite piece would be teeny tiny bottle Gail found. I love watching you both and hearing your excitement. Thank you so much for taking us along.
The blue marble for the window for me lol. Great finds ladies thank you so much.😊
Fabulous finds today ladies.A good collection actually for your first one of the year.Maybe it’s a good omen for you.Thank you for taking us along..Love n Light 🥰
So Girls,, you two had a good day hunting, Next time, I hope that you two find your bucket list items!!! Have a good evening
Thank you beautiful ladies!
Great finds!
I think the blue marble sitting on top of the tinniest bottle would look lovely in the Window of Wonders.
The slag glass would be beautiful in the window. I'm so glad you brought it home.
That slag glass is all so beautiful! Great finds ladies! Fantastic way to start the new year
Great finds Ladies
An awesome start to 2023. I love how that last cod marble found glittered. It was beautiful.
The ziggy button would look beautiful in the window xx
Hello my friends, that piece of slag glass you found Gail looks like a pile of licorice! So neat. What a great adventure!
think you should start the new year's window with o few of the beautiful beads from today
I want to go visit just to dig in the dirt. Id be in heaven if i could.
That was great. Nothing better than discovering and curiosity.
Great video guys very dark finish very nice finds
There's all kinds of objects worthy of the window, but I would like to nominate the blue cut glass bead. 'Who would these fardels bear, when he himself might his quietus make with a bare bodkin?'. May you remain fardel free, and everyone else for that matter.
wow beautiful Jar
Thanks 🙏👍
The United Clasp on the window of Wonders or the small Terracotta jar 😊😊
I hope you both had a wonderful time bringing in 2023! Great to see you larking again we have all missed you both. I hope you find dream finds this New Year 💗💗💗💗💗
The picture of this video is exceptionally clear!!! Love your mudlarking videos!,
I live vicariously through you guys! I love traveling without leaving my house!
We love you coming along with us! xx
Love your finds. Wheel & whistle
Lovely finds for the new year thank you
7:41 - a Bodkin, used to make eyelet holes in cloth without cutting threads- you carefully work it through the weave, spreading the threads, then do a buttonhole stitch to finish the eyelet. The result is stronger because the threads are intact.
Thank you Gail and Alex…i love your videos, so sublime and restful and at the end the table of goodies, yay …for this one all your items are fantastic…anyone would look good in the window…btw it so cute to hear Alex in the background sometimes when you are filming faraway from each other…she has a sweet voice…reminds me of a British actress of the 60’s! 😊😊have a grand new year! 🌹
just a thought. shall we all just enjoy life in 2023, because life is a wonderfull thing.
The black slag glass looked like liquorice - good enough to eat. 😉😋
Hope you have good hunting this year ...
Your home must be wall to wall relics..
I had a friend who spent every free moment hunting U.S. civil war relics.
His home was like a museum.
I have a hunch your home is similar ...
Happy hunting ladies.
Awesome start to the new year and a new bead string? Well done guys amazing finds. Take care and thank you for sharing 👍🙏❤️
Yayyy Mudlark Barbie!!! I vote for the sewing kabobber!
Thank you for inspiring me to start a new hobby which then helped build a little business from it. You're true inspirations xxx
I was thrilled to receive one of your finds as a Christmas gift from my daughter. She is a patron of yours and bought it from your etsy shop. It is a real treasure to me.
That looked a cold day, G&A. We really do appreciate you and all the mudlarks for braving this weather. Wishing you all the best for 2023. :)
" I / We appreciate you both !!! A great start for 2023 😊👍❤"
Love your finding the little beads bye!
Great video ladies , I do love watching, I'd like to see the glass battery in the window of wonders 😊❤
The sewing tool Alan found you reminds me of the pins used for making lace back in the day, when it was handmade.
You ladies are troopers! What a awesome trip. I love tiny bottles too. And the beads wow!! I was hoping the coin would be gold. Thank you for taking us along 🤗🥰❣
I think the tinest burst lip bottle would be a great start to the window of wonders. Happy and healthy 2023!
I am a fairly new subscriber (a few months) and just want to thank you Gail and Alex for letting me spend the Holidays with you. I have been/and still am binge watching both yours and Katie/Fleur - Kit & Caboodlers UA-cam videos. You have all been able to provide me with so much peace, tranquility and soothing of the soul. Just being able to "follow along" on your adventures, share the pure happiness as well as giddiness when you make your finds, be them rare or not. It has helped me so much.
I do crafting too, however not so much with older finds since I've not been able to locate any "dumps" over here in Sweden. Would really love to though. I do make jewelry from semi precious stones, as well as make my own soaps from scratch, natural body products, do my own food preserving and everything that entails.
I have been very low due to "stuff" that has happened over the past 2 years. And, not had the energy or will to create anything but, I'm finding that both of your channels have started to wake my creative spirit once again.
Thank you and much love to you both.
//Solani❤
You all find so many great little objects for sculptures and collage and just still life arrangements for photography or for painting... The possibilities are positively endless!!! Not to mention about a billion different crafty ideas... just off the top of my head of course!
My first thought was a toy lead fire hydrant.
oh, the tiniest bottle for the window!!!!
Sounds like a pub, 'The Wheel and Whistle'!
I love the cricket buckle. An unusual find for the window sill.
Brilliant finds. Lovely to see you back.
Thank for the trip to the foreshore it was a good day out. The wooden stick thingy is also known as a proddy for making the holes in hessian with strips of fabric for a fireside rug or boot mat. I think the tiniest bottle wins the spot this week, maybe Alex will make a mould of it and make a tiny silver or copper replica.
Thank you lovely ladies , what a fab start to 2023. Here’s to a new year of bucket list finds.❤
Welcome 2023. So happy to see you back.💜💜💜💜💜💜
What a great first treasure hunt for 2023! I think the teeny tiny bottle Gail found should have a place of honor in the window of wonders! The white lid would make a great mushroom top! Thanks for sharing y’all’s joy with us!
Though I loved Gail's tiny bottle, when I displayed a rather rare military style button made of black glass or obsidian, on my windowsill, the intensity of the sun through the window caused pieces to chip off (as with my enamelware while it was hanging above my kitchen stove). Though the climate and is different there, I never display any fragile items on the windowsill or near a hot stove since then.
Lovely finds. I think the smallest bottle is for the window of wonders.
I LOVE the teensy bottle! I'd fill it and them that size with seed beads! Would be so pretty! I wish you could invite Manchester Mudlark to come there and search. To get them out the woods and pits with bottles,...lol! Well, I think they would like the change!
What a wonderful selection of finds! The bone/ivory bead is very interesting, I haven't seen one like that before. My favourite has to be the Soldier with the bent gun, funny yet poignant. 😁💗 x
Happy New Year Ladies🎉. Please consider another hiding of treasure in the Borders🥰. Great fun even if it’s already found. ❤️❤️👌🏻
Belated best wishes for 2023. Look forward to all your magical finds! I just know you will do well. Also the very best of health to you both. Keep loving!
Yet another outstanding video ladies. Wonderful treasures and a great start to a new year.
Love that Slag Glass! And all those BEADS!! @22:40 & @23.55 They are gorgeous. Wonderful Hunt. xx
Beautiful items discovered in today's video, beautiful scenery, photos and music xx looking forward to your next video already!! xxoo
Great video! 🎉 The slag glass should go in the window. I cried when you left the half bottle stopper. They’re perfect to turn into refrigerator magnets 😢 😱. Great day & night out. Half pipes can be secured down on wood as flowers & painted. JM CRAFTING Idea. ♥️ 🌹
Keep Rocking 🤙 the good stuff👍 Beautiful people🤗
😋yum 2023 the 🖖 continue with your finds creative vision play faith zen connecting with us UA-cam family energy 😉🙏💚💜🕊️🐇🇺🇲🦅🗽
Can't but think that the little terracotta jug wants to be a chicken 🤔
Happy New Year!!! Love the tiny bottle and all the beads!!
The tiny burslip bottle is my vote for the first 2023 Window of Wonders display. Such lovely finds for first trip of the new year. The beads are my other favs, especially the small (possible ?) bone carved one and the opalescent bigger bead. Fun!
Watching these wonderful ladies always brighten my day !
Always am looking forward to Sunday & your videos. Hope 2023 is 365 times better than 2022!
I vote for the sewing tool for the window! Just wonderful...You two lift my spirits and I look forward to Every Single Video! With love and wishes for a happy new year.
I loved the gurgle lapping sound of the water in the beginning. I could fall to sleep to that!
Wonderful finds ladies!! Great start to the New year!!
Great finds today and very interesting things too. I think the United clasp should go in the window of wonders this week or the tiniest bottle as the light will shine through it. great to get a video tonight I have missed you.
Wow ladies that was amazing love the finds
The little Dutch girl is so pretty, she gets my vote for the windowsill of wonders this week, as well as the cricket buckle. Great start to the new year ladies. Greetings and best wishes to you both Gail and Alex for the year to come. The beads were very plentiful and lovely, as were the Codd marbles. How nice of Alan to gift you with the fid & the doll's arm. Hello from North Carolina!
Eastern NC here. Hiya 😁
@@marilyndreamwalkermejorado1208 New Bern, NC here, hiya neighbor 😀 😊

Yessssss 2023 let it be epic new year larking for treasures and trinkets!
What a great start to another year of mudlarking ! I think you're going to have a very memorable year !!
That buckle would be a nice frame for the bird and make a charm for a necklace.
Thanks for the nice video's they give me calm
So happy to see you 😊
Those little toy related finds are brilliant! The blue in that marble is incredible too! Too much to comment on as usual 😂 If that whistle tip does work, you could splice it onto a clay pipe 🤔
It’s so good to see you again after the holiday season, I’ve missed you, may all your larks be happy in 2023 x
Loved the tiny terracotta jug would look sweet with some tiny flowers in.
I'm another vote for the tiny bottle. Or the buckle. What a great start to the year!
Love it when you go to this place. Thank you for all your hard work and braving the cold.
Love the glass marble filled with a blue glass swirl. Gorgeous. Happy mudlarking in the new year!
Lovely video as always . Great finds Happy New. year to you both . Many thanks lots love from Scotland 🏴 xx ❤
The pointed bone item is an antique sewing bodkin.
The black slag glass reminds me of twisted thick licorice sticks. The Liitle bird on porcelain is so sweet! Am excited to see what you make out of your lovely finds.
Please, pretty please consider a whole show showing what you have recycled them into with just a brief word on it. That would be so fun! Thank yous for the lovely adventure, filming and music. We love yous! 💕💕💕
