Yay! What a great new place to explore!
I think that the Goedewaagen pipe bowl deserves a place in the window.
Fun fact about the Goedewaagen curly pipe and also other curly pipes: they were often bought at a boot sale near the ice. The ice skaters bought a pipe and made a skating trip. If they came back with the brittle clay pipe still in one piece, they proved to be an excellent skater.
When the ice was very strong, people skated specially to Gouda just to buy this pipe (and stroopwafels).
I'm Dutch, but I never knew this, until you found the pipe and I did some research about it.
Thank you for this history lesson!

You ladies always give me a smile and always teach me something new. Our Ancestors made some absolutely fabulous things that still stand the test of time, I wonder if our things will be able to last as long as our ancestor's items have. I love all of your finds but most of all I love your genuine smiles when finding a new bit of the past that you get to research! Great video ladies thank you!

We often ask that question, will anyone want our rubbish in the future? Most of it is just plastic packing, we don't use half as much glass and ceramics nowadays unfortunately. And it would be so much better for our environment if we did! 😊

Gail, your words at the end about discovering the past are so well said. It brings me so much joy to watch your videos and the history that you find out about the past from such simple objects. I was particularly interested in the finds from Carlisle as it is also my closest city. The thought of all those young single men up to no good is not a pleasant thought - I wonder if that is the reason for one part being called Botchergate meaning someone who makes mistakes due to incompetence! The decorated pipebowl is amazing with a fantastic history. Plus I will now think of a strong woman when I enjoy my Duerr jam or marmalade. I really hope Mrs Duerr got a good share of the business or was handsomely paid for her recipes when she divorced her naughty husband. Thanks again and I'm very pleased to be one of your patreons.

    Hello Beauties,
I do so love our adventures together. The bottle stops were all gorgeous and the pipe bowls are all beautiful. I did a little research on the Lysol bottle and here is what I found.
Lysol was invented in 1889 by a German man named Gustav Raupenstrauch. I love German history especially since my Grandfather and his wife and children (18 if them) immigrated from Germany in the 1800's. Thank you again for including me in your adventures. Until next time Good bye.

That wee chemist bottle is almost exactly the same as an Edinburgh medicine bottle I found, aside from the wording.
The colour, shape, writing font - all the same. I think it must’ve been the same bottle makers. I guess Carlisle isn’t too far from Edinburgh, so it is possible that they may have been supplying the north of England and Scotland.

Lovely finds! Being a bottle digger myself, I'm so envious of the age possibilities of your larking adventures. A bit of wisdom picked up from a more experienced digger: never smell what may still be in the bottles. Apparently the fumes may still be strong enough to overbear an unsuspecting sniffer. I once caught whiff of a strange bottle filled with a yellow liquid from several feet away. Unmistakable fragrance of Grandmother's lotion! Thank goodness it wasn't any more dangerous 😅

Another amazing Lark. So many beautiful jars. Loved the pipe. The little metal man is gorgeous. He reminds me of the Tin man from The Wizard Of Oz. Thanks for sharing.

I just love your videos. I always come away with a calm state of mind. In this world of chaos and clamber it takes me back in time to a more gentle way of living.

What a great discovery. A new bottle dump and place to dig, I look forward to future videos of your return. That pipe bowl was so detailed and had an interesting history 🙂 So many beautiful bottles. Just love the aqua and blue ones.

The glass colors are beautiful! I would have my arms full of bottles on my way to the car! I really enjoy the history that you uncover. It’s my favorite part, aside from holding a cleaned bottle up to the light.

Always enjoyable, educational and historical. Can't resist a good treasure hunt! Your personalities make following yous even more lovely and fun. Good to see the Scrooe again. The dancing nail-man could become a popular fidget toy for all ages. I'd like one. ☺💕😻🇺🇸

Wish I could find stuff like that. The oldest stuff I've found that I can date is from the 1930's, in my backyard.
