I used to have long hair & once I made up my mind to cut it, I proceeded forward. I did let my stylist cut it, but if I hadn't had an appointment, I could see myself doing what you did ...cutting it myself! Your hair looks more vibrant & healthy after your cut. I say, " Way to go!"

I screamed in delight when I saw this episode listed. So pumped for you and it looks great! Cutting my own hair via UA-cam tutorial was the most liberating feeling ever, and I think everyone should do it at least once in their life. Looking forward to the full witchening eventually too!!

I remember when my daughter walked in just as I was cutting hair, I was standing there with a handful of hair and a pair of scissors as she cried “Mom what are you doing?” I went from shoulder length to just above chin length. I love it. And yours looks great

I had to do this during the pandemic, when my usually short hair grew out of control. Boy, was I glad the hairdressers were open again!

There is nothing wrong with your haircut. It looks good to have variable lengths on the ends. I use the John Frieda hair products and love them. Here's a tip to help prevent the frizzies after blow drying your hair. When your finished drying it; switch to the cool cycle on the dryer and blow it all over your hair and scalp for a few mins. This will "close the pours" of your hair and skin and reduce the frizzing. JF has an anti-frizz that works well.
L'Oreal and Clairol have great colours,are easy to use and cost under $20 per box. You're hair looks very thick,so get 2 boxes. In 30 mins you will have zero grey and gorgeous colour equal to a salon visit. Also, keep in mind that there are LOTS of hairstylists in every town/ city. Don't be held hostage by just one. Your hair is all one length( not a layer cut or anything else). You really can't screw it up much as you found out. A few little strands may get missed,but are easily snipped afterwards. The pros do that all of the time....keeps you in the chair longer ($$)

Andie, you’re a hoot! I identify so much with wanting to cut your hair. I’ve awakened so many times, looked in the mirror, and start grabbing the scissors. My daughter did a wolf cut on me a couple months ago, based on a UA-cam video. I was impressed at how well it turned out! Honestly though, you couldn’t be cuter if you tried! My hubby thinks you’re adorable and asks every week if you have a video out. 🤣

Now I go to a Goldwell hair design school where they do a great job of cutting (and coloring!) my hair soooo much better than I ever did.

I love it! I was laughing so hard at the beginning when you were hemming and hawing and then just went for it. I have done the same exact thing, more than once actually 😂. I never make hair appts in advance and only when I am so disgusted with my hair that even I myself don’t want to touch it any longer! Your hair is thicker than mine, though and maybe a little more forgiving. Your makeup tutorial was fun to watch 😂. You looked absolutely stunning.

It looks amazing! I recently had ten inches cut off. I have fibromyalgia and getting that much cut off gave me some independence back. I can take care of it by myself now. It’s amazing what a haircut can do.

I cut my own hair with the ponytail method in 2021. I did one where you make a couple of ponytails. One gets pulled over the top of your head so you get face framing pieces. It worked pretty well. My curly hair covered the fact that one of the layers was a little less connected than I wanted. All in all it was a great way to bridge the gap between my former stylist who’d moved during COVID and finding a new one.
I did this three times with long hair during quarantine years and on the final time I messed up somehow and had to have 3 inches cut off and wait 4 more months to have it perfected - another 3 inches ! Haircuts sooooo expensive in my city but finally caved and have to say - nothing like a great salon cut for framing layers. You did GREAT Andrea - good job! Nice length.

Ok.....I did it.
Truth be told I required the assistance of my trusty husband to segment all the way down. (16 segments later) and took off 5 inches-(thought it wouldn't be nearly that much 😮) my hair is still *almost * to my "What Not To Wear" pre-haircut-makeover length. Guess I just like my hair long.

I've cut my own hair several times. At least you followed along a video. I freehand it. Usually the results are not as good as yours. I rarely wear my hair down so no one ever knows, lol.

I’ve been cutting my own hair for about 7 years now. It started when I decided to go from mid-back length, super thick and wavy hair that I’d been coloring since the age of 16 (I started getting grays early) - and ending with shaved sides and a long, spiky, layered crown. I was 43 at the time and was sick of coloring and drying out my hair, so I figured I’d chop it all off and let it regrow in whatever color it actually was naturally. I loved it…but, I did end up going to a stylist to get it detailed, as I was having issues getting my sides just right. I had a best friend for years and years who was a professional hairdresser, but we had had a falling out and so I had to find someone new, based on recommendations from friends. She was okay, but I kept looking, found two more stylists, but they all kept doing what they wanted and not what I wanted…so, I learned to razor layer and cajoled my husband into assisting with the back edges that I couldn’t quite do by myself (I couldn’t see it without my glasses on). Anyhoo, I kept the short do until a bit over two years ago and loved it - but, like we do, I needed a change and decided to grow it out again. My hair grows super fast and it was a little past my bra line until week before last, when I decided to take off a few inches and layer it up a bit more severely. I do the “unicorn ponytail cut, modified a bit to suit my needs” and it has worked well for me. I then use a straight razor to remove some extra weight around the sides. I have no idea why I’m telling you all of this, other than to say that, for what it’s worth, I approve - and your hair looks lovely. I’m going to have to check out that foundation and the liquid/gel blush, as I love how they look on you. At least you decided on a somewhat easy DIY right before a holiday get together. I, believing I’m somehow capable of suspending time, decided to reupholster my couch…yeah… I didn’t get it quite finished, but my family was just fine with the huge drop cloth I laid over it and now I can get it finished without messing up due to being stressed over running out of time. 😊
