Wow, talk about a low class duckling to high class swan. The amount of courage and creativity in this piece might be illegal. And, this was done while preparing for a major role in a theater production plus the “minor” responsibility of running the household as mother for a family of five! Makes me tired to just tip the hat to this wonderful accomplishment.
Andy, are you a professional actress? Or maybe a playwright?
An honor to be so charged! Many many thanks. 🙏😊
This was a now to greeting one when entering the door. So thoughtful a piece. I am truly grateful to see this . this.
I think the gold crevices are worth pursuit. Like Japanese ceramic repairs using gold paint to highlight the cracks. The little table is amazing..as are you.
@@frelnc no, not a professional actress (although I LOVE getting to be on stage in community theater productions) but I've been a professional musician (singer and conductor) for 25+ years, and would love to expand as a writer! 😊
Just an additional note…I CAN NOT wait for the next installment of Furniture Fables! I’ve see all of the past installments and just looking so forward to more❤️❤️❤️❤️👏🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️
That raised stencil looked REALLY good. My motto when it comes to DIY for myself is that 'perfection is highly overrated." I like that it doesn't look mass produced. Great job. And yes, the milk chocolate legs looked great!
So true! Great approach. Many thanks!
"Meh, good enough"
Mediocrates
So cute. The knobs were a perfect choice. A sweet little piece.
Yay, so glad you liked those! Many thanks. 🙏 😊
Andy, your crazy antics always make me smile. Can hardly wait till As the Paint Dries continues. That little desk is a great little writing desk. Adorbs.
Hooray!! So great to hear this, thanks so much!!! 🏖️😍
So creative! The raised stencil gives it a one of a kind designer look, and why not, you are a creative designer. I love it! The chocolate legs make the entire piece WOW.
Thank you so much! 🍩🧁😍
The loose affect of the stenciling really worked. I wasn’t a fan of the gold, but then I’m usually not a fan of gold as I have more rustic taste. Thank you for another demonstration of molding the corner of the top. Wonderful and thank you for sharing.
You're very welcome, thank you! Great feedback on the gold. 😊👍
I really like your new, just perfect, little table.
I wasn't sure about the gold but with the pulls which also have gold I believe it works.
The rustic raised stencil also looks great and you colour choices are spot on as always!
Three weeks?!🎬 Congrats on getting so many things done!!!!!👏👏
Lol, thanks so much!! 😅🎭
Love your videos dahhhhhling!
Thank you, Dahling!! 🍸
So adorable! Beautiful job, and super-enjoyable process and narration. The stenciling looks great and yes, the legs and hanging them up for their chocolate wash and seal 👍🏻👍🏻❤ Thank you!
Woo-hoo! Thanks so much!!
I loved it❤❤
Yay, thank you!
Well, that was fun! How wonderful to wildly express your creativity without the pressure of anyone’s approval. Simply delightful. Oh, I love the touch of gold leaf. It doesn’t overwhelm the table and adds to the whimsy.
Thank you so much! And great to hear about the gold - I might work some more with it and see where it goes...and you are spot on about the freedom thing, such a great feeling!
I loved this, so fun! I think you took a piece that would have disintegrated and gave it a MUCH longer life. And so pretty! The raised stencils turned out great. Can't wait for the summer!
Thank you so much! Let's hope so! And me too...🏖️😍
Wow, love this! I always enjoy your videos and how you experiment with "new to you" techniques. I was amazed at the fix of the Hamster Bed corner...I would have thought that it would have been a lost cause. The plaster technique was cool too!
Can't wait for the Summer Special! Thanks for another fun fable
Thanks so much!! 🐹😍
I loved the imperfect raised stencil, the knobs and the beautiful legs. I am undecided on the gold leaf.
Thanks so much, and thanks for that feedback! I agree - it's not quite there...😅
I have only just started this video but I have to tell you before I get too far into it, I get so excited when I see there is a new Furniture Fables video to watch! Its the “treat” of my day! Thank you for being you and your wonderful talent and imagination!
Wow, thank you so much - the Fables are truly labors of love, so it means so much to hear that! 😍
I've always been so intimidated by stenciling but now I'm anxious to try your press down technique. That was a stroke of genius!! Adorable table, great color and those legs!!
Yay!! Yes, it looked really messy at first, but after it dried and I sanded it, it was a cool effect! Much more subtle than the other areas where I did it in the traditional way, but I really liked it. 😊 Many thanks!
Marshmallow cream? Chocolate legs? What's not to like! Yummy table!
Right?? 🧁🍩😍 Thanks so much!!
Oh dahling it’s simply marvelous. I love it. ❤❤
Thank you, Dahling! 🍸
Hi Andy, you really used your creative skills. It came out beautiful. So much detail. Love it!
Thanks so much! 😊
What a difference you made for that furniture piece 👏 👌.! It's looks very beautiful!
Thanks so much! 😊
I hope you use the gold leaf idea combined with a color with gold undertones. Live the table! And all the glasses. I can relate to that!
Great idea! Many thanks! 🤓
Once again a beautiful original creation. She's a sweet little lady in the perfect shade of blue 💙 I'd call her a success!
Thank you so much!
Another Great Save Andy!!! Love it❤ P.s. I thought I was the only one with that many ,or more pairs of readers.😅😂
Thanks so much, and oh no...I have even more! 😂🤓
How refreshing to watch your creative process. If we do the same old techniques, we don’t grow. It gives me more confidence to actually try something instead of fearing that I won’t do it “right!” When it comes to artistic endeavors, there is no such a thing as “right!” Though I was not a fan of the gold, it is refreshing to see someone flirting with new techniques! ❤️ I love your entertaining videos including your “acting” parts. I learned a bunch. Love the look you achieved. The legs are so pretty.
I remember an artist once speaking about her furniture as coming with a personality that we have the opportunity to draw forth and embellish. She even named her pieces. What is this beauty’s name? I vote for Matilda!
Wow, thank you so much!! And I love Matilda!!
I had a lot of doubts about how the table would turn out. It’s beautiful. I love the legs being stained and they enhance the rest of the table. The wallpaper in the drawer is gorgeous and so are the knobs. The gold . . . i don’t care for it. I’m glad you stopped when you did. ❤
Yay, thanks so much! 😍
WHEN will "As the paint dries" return?!!!! I must be sure to be 100% available! In other news: your "casual" approach to a technique is better than most other people's perfectionism. I think the gold leaf technique deserves a whole fable to itself.
YAY!!! I will for sure keep you updated on the Summer Special, and many thanks for the stenciling encouragement. 😍 I'm thrilled you think there's something there with the gold leaf idea - I'd really like to keep working with it and see where it goes.... Thank you SO MUCH, Gina!! 😍🏖️🙏
Such a "perfect" transformation! I love it. Not so much the gold leaf, but the chocolate legs are wonderful! You brighten my day! Thank you
You're very welcome, and thank you!! Great feedback. 😊
Its amazing what you did to this table! Personally, i think it turned out perfectly beautiful! 😊❤
Wow, thank you!
❤❤❤it’s beautiful! You’re amazing.
Wow, thank you so much!!
That turned out absolutely beautiful. I love everything about it. Great job. Maybe a cushion on your chair will get your tush up a little bit higher for more comfortable typing but it’s absolutely beautiful.
😂 That's exactly my plan!! Thanks so much! 😍
The stenciling was just right! Not a fan of the gold but I would like silver I think. Now I want a cup of hot chocolate!
Thanks so much, and great idea with the silver! 🍩☕️
I really like the loose raised stencil and I found your idea with the gold brilliant ! So much so that I would have liked a few spots more with the gold, but it has to be to your taste, not mine. 😊
Thanks so much! Yes, my plan had been to add more....but then I wasn't sure if I liked it so I stopped...now I'm thinking I might play with it some more and see how it develops...LOL.
What a tease for the summer fun with Biff and the gang! I love that you share all of your creativity with us. Thanks, Andy.
I think it turned out great, but could add some of fusions antiquing glaze to make that really nice raised stencils to standout a little more. I think it’ll make your gold pop more as well
You're so welcome, thank YOU!! 🏖️😍
Thanks, love those ideas!
Oh, wow! This one turned out really cute 😊 God job, ma'am!
Thank you! 😊
That was a fun one. I’m an amateur artist so I can appreciate you just having fun trying new artistic skills. The way it turned out was fantastic. I think it was just enough glitz and glam.
So awesome to hear that, thank you so much! Sounds like you can definitely relate...😅😍
Beautiful. No gold for me. Love, love, love.
Yay, thank you, and thanks for the feedback!
Wonderful! Just wonderful! Absolutely love the raised stencil. It looks so gorgeous!
Yay, thanks so much!!
I absolutely LOVE your creations!! And yess sign me up for 3d stenciling. LOVE IT❤❤❤
Hooray!! Many thanks!
I'm only a minute in! my first thought was "Oh no, she's back!" then how in the world is she only at 79.6k subscribers! You give so much entertainment with your videos it is a shame the more people haven't found you!
Oh wow, thank you so much, means a lot to hear that! 😍
I absolutely LOVE your channel, no matter what you do❣️❣️❣️ Your little table/desk is adorable and I wouldn't miss "As the Paint Dries" for anything!!
Thank you so much!! 😊
Wonderful! I liked your cavalier attitude toward the stenciling. It added charm and I’m sure was much more fun in the making. Perhaps we all need to execute a carefree project from time to time. Love, love the colors and the hardware. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Anxiously awaiting the Summer 2024 Sequel!!
Hooray!! Yes, it was so fun, relaxing...I highly recommend it. 😂 Thanks so much, and can't wait for Summer fun! 🏖️😍
Well done you it looks lovely as always xx and good luck for your show xxx🎉
Thank you!!
While the size of this "desk" would never suit me and my speading-out needs, this turned out great. And I think you may have found a new signature with those tiny bits of gold leaf. You could add to any project and everyone will know it is a true Andy Original. Darn you're creative! I hope we get to see a bit of your upcoming theatrical work! By the way, those LEGS! 💚💚💚
Wow, thanks so much!! I was just thinking that I'd like to keep working on that gold technique...not quite where I want it, but I do think there's something there...looking forward to more theater sharing!
I didn’t think I would like it but I DO! The stencil look came out better than I thought it would too. But I would have skipped the gold filling - too random for me. Great job, Andy!
Thank you so much! Great to hear. And yes, I agree - that gold leaf idea is not fully baked, lol!
Love this! I’d easily pay at least $300 for this table! Love the pulls, love the “messy” raised stencil, love the touch of gold (I probably would have added more but I’m nuts with metal leaf!) and the paint wash is fantastic! I must say that I am madly in love with the paper you chose to line the drawer! I think you’ve created a perfect writing desk to tuck under a window, or anywhere really. I’m very excited to catch up with everyone in the continuing story of “As The Paint Dries.”🌸
YAY! SO great to hear that, thank you!! Yes, I am loving it right in our little window/bump out, and I have to say - that paper is one of my favs. Maybe I'll play some more with that gold leaf idea, in between writing the Summer Special...😍🏖️
So cute! Definitely just right. The brown paint is really nice. The gold flecks are nice but I think I might have added a bit more. Just a bit.
Thanks so much! Yes, I might play around with them some more...😊
Could of done w/o the dental gold. Don't like dentist. Oral surgery coming up next month. I loved the rest of it though. Your little desk turned out lovely. I would use it. Loved the raised stencil too.
The shelves above your desk are so cool.
👍 Andy, where did you get those shelves?
Thanks! You're not going to believe this, but I found those at Michael's in a 70% off bin! Here's a couple that are sorta kinda similar: www.michaels.com/product/honey-can-do-floating-decorative-metal-wood-wall-shelves-3ct-D614093S www.michaels.com/product/sorbus-17-floating-shelves-2ct-D722384S?com_id=pdp_AlsoLike&path=youMayAlsoLike
@@FurnitureFablesbyAndy TY, your cats must love these. 🐈 😻 🐾 🐾 🐾
Nice transformation. Loving the color scheme and wash. It’s all good. I might have tried to add small flecks of gold to the top. Very small. As the paint dries is worth watching 🥸
Thanks so much!! Yes, that was my plan, to add them to the top as well....and then I chickened out, lol.
So sweet, love the stencils. Have tried the glass bead medium for stencils? Looks like fun.
Thanks so much! No, but I'd love to....😊
IMO, no dental filling effect at all! I would have added a little bit more here and there. I looks great with the new knobs (sort of same feel)
I love it. I personally love gold but I wasn’t a fan of the very random bits of gold leaf. I think for my own taste I would have used a tiny bit of gold gilding wax and just went over the front drawer with my finger, just so it gently kissed the raised stencil. Enjoy your new desk Andy ❤
Thanks so much! Yes, such great idea. I considered that too! 😍
Very pretty! Blue and brown are one of my favorite combinations! Now I can't wait for the summer!
Mine too! Always such a nice combo. And same here!! 🏖️😍
I really loved your montage at the end of the video!
It was so fun to see what you were creating along the way; the freedom, the suspense! As always, you never disappoint and the final reveal was exactly what I didn’t know I would love, lol ❤
Oh wow, thank you so much! So great to hear. 😍🙏
Yippee coming attractions with BIFF! I can’t wait. My heart be still 😮😅
LOL, Biff is excited too...🧔🏖️
Wow!! Very nice Andy. The clan is back😀😎😎 can’t wait.
Thanks so much, and you and me both! 🏖️😍
Your piece looked "happy" in the end. They seem to smile at their new look. I've done the stencil technique on furniture before, but use "wall joint compound" and it works great. Not sure how it would hold up compared to the stuff you used and someone handling more roughly than I do, but I love using that. Love the legs and that wallpaper you found - both looked so uplifting. Thanks again for inspiration.
You are so welcome, thank you!! Yes, I've heard of folks using the joint compound too - my understanding is that the fiber paste is a bit more tough, but I'd guess that as long as someone was careful, it'd be fine! 😊
I never know what you will create and you never fail to impress. Such a success this little desk. I am guessing making this just right desk is a distraction from ~ WOW you're going to be on stage in 3 weeks too!. I love the raised stencil it reminds me of old pressed wood chairs. I can't comment on the gold as I think it is something to see in person. I like the idea of the gold peaking out from a magical place, hidden away.
You read my mind with the peaking out!! Many many thanks, so glad you liked that raised stencil! 😍
Loved the raised stencil. But how about using a dry brushed technique to highlight its character. The leg color is great, and it is definitely a use again. Thanks for sharing!
Many thanks!! Yes, I was/am tempted to do that with it too, although I'm also really enjoying its more subtle look right now....maybe I'll try a little on one side...😂
This turned out really great. It looked cheap but not anymore.
Yay, so great to hear, thank you!! 🙏😍
It reminds me of an islamic sort of pattern, especially when you added the gold flecks and the drawer pulls I love it!
Oo, love that - thank you!!
The drawer front turned out really nice. I like the 3d stencil idea. The color of the paint and wash looked good together. Good luck and break a leg with the theater production as I am sure you will do great.
Thank you very much!
Really nice job. Love the raised stencils. ❤❤❤
Thanks so much!! 😍
I like it.
Yay , thanks!
Always love your videos. The legs gorgeous. Best color ever. Table really cute. 😊
Yay, thank you so much!
Love the transformation!
Yay, thanks so much!
I honestly was not expecting to like this. I was wrong.
Yay, thanks so much!
Great as always. Love the stencil and the legs are to die for!!!!!
YAY! Many thanks!!
I Love It!!! ♥️🌺♥️🌺♥️🌺♥️🌺♥️🌺♥️🌺♥️🌺♥️🌺

Yay, thank you, Marley!!
I just love how that came together! So beautiful! It was just right!!! ❤😊 I’m inspired!!
Yay, thank you so much!
It's adorable. Really nice upgrade. Unique as well. Can even handle that shade of gray.... LOL despite being "OVER" that hue long ago. :)
Thank you! 😊 Yes, honesty I think it's more blue than gray!
@@FurnitureFablesbyAndy I thought so as well, but thought it may have just been my computer screen. LOL So glad you're back. Looking forward to your next video. :)
I love it, Darling ❤️
Thank you, Dahling! 🍸
I love love this boho chic desk....so pretty 😍😍
Yay, thanks so much! 😍🌸
Hi Andy! Super impressive Walmart Hack Makeover. Surprising that people pay $170 for the original from Walmart. You are phenomenal, your creations are fabulous! The number of commercial interruptions are a bit obnoxious. 💚💚💚
Thanks so much! And sorry about the number of commercials - I went back and checked it, hopefully a bit better now.
“Go with the kintsugi vibe!” trilled Goldilocks as she tossed her golden curls with an encouraging nod for Mama Bear. “You can’t have too much bling,” Goldilocks continued. ”I always embrace my flaws and imperfections because it's just right." Once again, a great video and restoration.
😂👏 Thanks so much!!! 🐻🐻🐻
Super cute! I love the raised stencil technique, the color & the washed-out legs really came together very organically.
I wasn't fond of the gold but as always you pulled off something unique.
What brush/es did you use?
You do such beautiful work!
BTW, I hope you're having fun with the play. Can't wait to hear all about it!
Thanks so much! I believe I was using my Zibra brushes mostly - great brushes at great price points. 😊 The play opens May 18th, can't wait to get it going!
Hi,Andy. Another cool project accomplished. I'm especially glad that you showed how to mend damaged MDF boards as I have some damaged flooring to mend. I do like the colours and stenciling that you used. The gold leafing was interesting, but I wonder if some of the lines were a bit too thick. You know how antique mirrors look? Is it possible to re-create that look?Perhaps try paint speckling and then gold leaf that and see what that looks like...just some fine specks randomly chosen. I'm sure it would be a friggy trial, but might be interesting.
Keep up the furniture projects in your "spare" time...lol.
Thanks so much, Wendy! Yes I agree, gotta work more on that gold leaf idea, and I love your suggestion of layering with a speckled paint effect...😍
Love the raised stencil. The piece turned out just right. ❤👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Yay! Many thanks. 😊
Your video has inspired me, thanks
Yay! Thanks, Stephanie!
Nice job, Andy. Creative solution and great execution.
Many thanks!
I'm not in love with it but I'm happy that you enjoyed this piece, Andy! I like the pulls with the colour of paint but think if you had added more gold flecks, it would have turned out badly. Too much going on in that case. But you did a great job on it! It just isn't my taste, personally (not that it was designed for me, I'm very happy with how pleased you wee at the outcome).
Totally get that, thanks so much!
Really pretty. Yeah, no on the gold leaf. "...looks like fillings." Haha I liked the raised stencil, looks great!
Yay, thank you!! Yes, gotta tweak that gold leaf idea...LOL.
Cute and perfect size too. Sometimes small and compact fits the bill. I've done this stencil technique way back on small items using spackle. Super fun to do. I cannot wait to see what the gang has been up to in your upcoming special! Woo hoo!
Thanks so much, and looking forward to the summer fun, lol!
Cute and slightly Boho chic-esque result! I think the gold leaf is a little random (but it's good for inspiration for a next project) but it's a nice little surprise. Well done and you ended up with a much prettier slender writing desk. The original was bland but had pretty good lines so it was a good base to work from.
Thanks so much, and I agree - got to keep developing that gold leaf idea, it's not quite there. 😊 Nice lines are everything! 😍
I love the piece overall. I really appreciate your willingness to experiment, it makes every episode novel and engaging. I think the gold leaf would look nice on the drawer front as an accent. Perhaps a bit more intentional? Anyway, great job!
Thanks so much!! Yes, I think I need to play around with the gold leaf idea some more...😊👍
Brilliant!!! Now you have me wanting to try this plaster technique and I do need a desk. LOL
Thanks so much, and yay!! Hoping you find just the right piece to work with! 😍
I wasn't sure about the grey desk and brown legs but it really works! Shame on me for doubting you. Your magic is special.
Oh wow, thanks so much!! 🪄😍
Looks amazing!
Thanks so much!
Stunning work ❤
Thank you so much! 😊
I think the stencil putty seemed too messy, my preference would be to use applied lace . There are so many things available at the thrift store if you don't have a stash of lacy fabric.
Your experimentation is always entertaining and instructive, and your personality is winning. Please, keep it up!
Thanks so much! Great idea about applied lace! 😊
The raised stencil turned out awesome!. The gold leaf...eeeeh...I'm not so sure...I don't think it works in this case. Maybe if it was applied like veining in marble and then a darker wash or wax applied to the area to tie the two colors together? The whole piece looks looks incredible.
Thanks so much! Yes, I agree - I feel like there's something there, but I don't quite have it yet...😅
The "freeform" raised stencil came out looking really nice! I like the milk chocolate-washed finish on the legs, but for this table I think I might have preferred the legs painted the same color as the body, perhaps one shade darker (or lighter?) than the body of the piece. I agree with you that the goldleaf was a bit too bright; it was good that you toned it done and didn't continue it.
Thanks so much! Yes, I thought of that idea too - I think you're right that it would look really nice!
Very cute! Fun!
Thanks so much!
I really like how you transform these pieces of ART that's what they are art. I would never think of doing some of these designs. By the way, the legs hanging there for some reason reminded me of deer legs. Lol, once I saw it, I couldn't unsee it.
Thank you very much! That's so wonderful to hear. And so sorry about the legs!! Yes, I too thought they looked tad..."awkward" hanging there...😅
Cyd in MD. A summer special you say? Bring it on...after the play of course 🙂
Thanks Cyd, can't wait! 🏖️
Loved it. Wasn't too sure about the stencil at first but you nailed it with that colour! And the colour of the legs are very nice. Good thinking hanging them up! Well done!
Thanks so much! 😊
Great job when you first started to wash the legs I was prepared not to like them, but I was intrigued came out very nice. Great job another triumph as always.
Yay, great to hear! Many thanks.
At last Andy!!, I have missed your sessions, but realised it was because you were working on the 'show'. I must confess, I was worried you may never come back to us, thank you for this one.
Oh, you are so welcome!! Yes, definitely hard for me to post weekly, but I am not going anywhere!
So love the raised stencil! Not the gold so much. You turned a pigs ear into a beautiful purse! Old saying
Thanks so much, love that!
