Man, this game was a rollercoster. The mongol player was as impressive in his opening as he was lacking in his mid to late game. I Mean, with the eco advantage he had levered through trade, he could have crushed his opponents WAY earlier.
He wanted to tortute him and depleet his resources , he knew he had advantage cuz of the outpost vision , he had information and used its. If i had 3k+ gold per min i would do the same too just send troops on attack and focus on other stuffs xD
That was one of the most impressive early games I’ve seen from a Mongols player followed up by a head scratching clown fiesta of “why haven’t you ended this game yet?”

I think he just didn't understand how much production he should have jumped into. He could literally build a crap ton of barracks and archery ranges and just bury his enemy under weight of numbers. Instead for a while he was over investing into bombards. My guess is it's what Drongo said he's just not that experienced with late game and the sheer amount of production he was capable of.
@@LuckyKillerK Exactly, with that amount of gold production and in reserve he could be cranking out lancers constantly if he wanted to. Instead he was left holding back since it always took him too long to catch back up full strength.
i'm a bit surprised the mongol player didn't just put up 20 military buildings and just rolled over his opponent

The smooth transition from using his scounts as harrass, then professional scouts picking up deer, then using them to hit from 2 sides while tower rushing the front, that's like fully utilizing what mongols are good at
These guys you cast over are always sick to watch, but you make it so much more entertaining to watch. I wasn’t a massive AoE2 viewer but you make me love AoE4 because of your exceptional casting ability!
It definitely makes sense to get those outposts killed. It denies your opponent yam network and vision when it comes time to fight. Not sure why you're calling it a "waste of time".
He doesn't consider the time investment worth it vs the opponent benefit?
@@ChaoticNeutralMatt Yeah, I guess I’m more so saying I think Drongo is wrong on this one. He was already having trouble catching his opponent. Letting them retreat into speed buffs is only gonna make that more difficult.
Isn't yam network only with deer stones? He went silver tree so destroying outposts is pointless.

I am speechless. The tower thing was a masterstroke, and when he brought up the Kurultai at the end, wow. This is how to play Mongols, just wow.
Ehhh, he should have been raiding with mangudai and/or lancers, and leveraging that great eco into pressure, and villager kills. He had the income to support many more military production buildings. He didn't really use all that map vision, because he just left his army next to his base the whole game.
Also, the Chinese player wasn't microing his springalds most of the time. So many fights where it was clear he just attack moved with them.
There's potential in this build order, don't get me wrong, but you gotta translate that into pressure in one way or another.
@@quartino_ He was raiding, you kind of missed it, pay attention to the mini map, drongo misses it sometimes because there's a lot of things happening at once.. He even raided with 2 rams! Could have been more raids tho I agree
His early game was pretty amazing. His translation of all that eco into military production and pressure not so much.

Not necessarily contradictory, a small score difference can be put down to a bug but thousands is more clearly a genuine score lead.

@@craigpears2818 I get your point, but I watched all other videos from Drongo so far and even when the mongol player had a score lead of 2k or 3k he still says it's because of the "bug". Especially when the mongol player is losing of course ^^
That's because the bug in score is when they are moving buildings, but i this game we didn't have that much buildings moving around making that score more accurate.

8:50 the scouts. It treats scouts which were double produced using ovoo influence and single produced scouts as different units. That is the reason for it.

I think I was wrong as I've seen it not following this logic since this comment. Go and test for yourself and see.
Title should be "Mongol trade boom goes untouched entire game", because China player never aproached Mongol eco, and so he paid the price. You let Mongol boom and get those imperial improved upgrades, you lose. They are so good, yet no one talks about them. Not to mention Mongol was losing loads of bombards but had 12k+ gold at the end

When I saw the tittle, thumnail and China on the video, I tougth about a dynasty sim city; I never expected the Mongolian trade highway!
As the chinese, I always make a few Fire Lancers just to raid with. If I'm not going to snipe any landmarks, just 10-20 Fire Lancers can cause so much mayhem that the enemy will have to move a lot of units to deal with it and spend a ton of resources rebuilding the lost infrastructure. And against the Abbasid, you just go fast Castle + Dynasty, build up a Fire Lancer army quietly in your base and snipe away their landmarks. Did it twice today and it feels good. Just move them close to the enemy base, wait for the enemy to attack your base and then it's go time.
Kaup cld have finished the game early on if he wasn't sitting ducks and waiting for fr Neptune to show up at his base. Plus with having so much gold and resources, he didn't do enuf research.
Neptune cld have finished the game, if he didn't focus too much on demolishing every outpost on the map and if had invested enuf in bombards and Pyrotech.

Drongo that last Chines landmark u call usless won me couple of good games even when i was solo vs 2 or even three, it mainly works with firelancers if u make 6 stables around that thing and supervis them u poping scarry amount of units and seny them straight to enemy base and snipe landmarks i learn the hard way to always Wall my base with Stone walls when facing Chines late game those who dont i feel bad for them
So true. This is especially bad in 4v4 games. Huge deathballs of firelancers just running into your base to torch all landmark and there is nothing you can do if your army isnt right there and/or have stonewalls for at least 1 landmark! I always tend to wall 1 landmark in.

The other thing you can do is build outposts along the trade road to give all your caravans the Yamm speed boost.

I wonder if we'll ever see Mongols with their TC on the Ovoo. 2 extra vills every 180 sec means +22% faster villager production, not a shabby boom. Takes a while to pay off. I guess the early aggression is just worth more than triple res villagers.

Once he saw mongol units under the outpost in feudal and not have a movement speed buff he could have assumed the mongols went silver tree since the deer stones give that tech

Is there a way to mass produce from several buildings of the same type at once? I keep seeing all the spawn markers for buildings, and I don’t know how they are cycling through everything so quickly? Is there a hot key fix?
Wish we could get a stronglholds/aoe hybrid ehen it comes to building and age progression.

The spirit way is op because of grenadiers… the most op unit in the game, can take down wall faster than a bombard, can ruin bases and destroy entire armies in one go
I’m here watching this, hearing you say fire lancers, palace guard, bombards and not once have i hear grenadier, a group of 50 grenadiers can wipe literally any army it comes across, i’ve wiped mass siege just using mass grenadiers, mass french cav, dead. Those guys are great players, no doubt, but this was like watching a low elo game
at no point did the mongol player seem like he was in trouble. I have no idea what Drongo's talking about. every time he was talking about "this is the end for the mongols!" or "chinese imperial age!!" was a fight that the mongols were winning pretty well.
There was a moment during the Chinese push where I thought the mongols might lose. His macro slipped, had a large amount of resources that wasn't being used, didn't have enough production structures prebuilt, and was being out produced. In the end, defenders advantage and having better units and better upgrades came out ahead and a stronger economy based on trade, but I can see a different version where his macro slips a little bit more and he gets overwhelmed.

is the market trade value worked out based on distance as the crow flies or does it take into account obstacles? cause I imagine in maps with obstacles having a horde of traders might be not as viable
It is just the distance, not the time traveled by the traders. So yeah obstacles decrease the efficiancy.
Its based on distance betwen the markets, so you want as few obstacles as possible

This game is pretty weird I must admit
You know, it kinda spoils a video when you start fawning heavily over one player... And the way you do it, you may as well just drop to your knees and show them how much you love them.
Im surprised that the Mongol played his economy so well but then didnt unterstand what the power of his race is and what complete map control means. It means his opponent has zero knowledge of what he is doing. So what china did there was greedy as fuck, just teching up blindly and hoping no attack comes, cutting a thousand corners (as they always do). And Mongols did nothing about it. And then the second Mongol mistake was not building enough production. 3000 food and gold all the time, thats 30 man at arms. Third mistake was keep making bombards when your opponent has 15 springalds right in front of your production. At least repair the bombards when you do this. And letting your opponent mine gold on the map while 2 knights would have countered that was also avoidable. Much closer game than it should be.
China attacking into the the 25% damage buff building of Mongols was not clever as well.
Edit: Double Bombards cost 1000 stone, he is definitly not doing that
I would rather be the 2 TC Chinese. Vills gather gold way faster than traders.
