Ok as for the comp. My fav fish would have to be flatties. Here in Qld our regs are min 40cm, max 75 cm
My personal regs are min 40cm and max 65cm.
It's just that I think this species so needs protecting.
There's slot of wankers out there who are keeping fish outside of the regs. I'm trying to compensate for that. Flatties have so much personality and are great fun to catch. Annndd they are fukin delicious.
So yeah that's for the comp.
Apart from that, your vids are so well done, I really hang out for them. Your personality really fits the content of your vids, you are a true Aussie chick for sure.
Don't let anyone try talk you into changing your format or content. It works, and as they say if it's not broken don't fix it.
I'm 74 this year , I'm a widower, fishing is all I have left really.

My son and I used the half pilly rig on Sunday at Broken Bay and cleaned up.Flathead, bream and flounder. Very happy.

I came good November 2023 was off the water since before Covid.
So I’m back baby, as you might remember I love fishing for snapper on plastic.

Great Vid Mel well said, locally I love Flathead of the bay for eating and fighting the big ones. But a gotta say once you have fished for Barra that is so addictive as its so challenging
Great sesh Mel. Great message too. The humble Flathead is my fav fish, its accessible to everyone whether they have a boat or not, whether you bait fish or use lures and you dont need expensive gear to target them and growing up its what we cut our teeth on. Lets not forget they taste bloody good too. hahaha.

100% flathead, if I can bring home just one or two I’m a happy man, my 9yo loves flathead too, so having enough for flathead nuggets for him and flathead tacos for me is great, it’s strange to think we get bonding time based around 1 type of fish as we cook and eat together

Mel here is something for ya its a test if you put your glasses on looking at your TV and you take them off and turn them sideways and look at them the screen should go darker that s how you tell if they are true UV protection glasses , hope i helped ad some knowledge cheers darlin . luv your vids .

@spikesfishing hi Mel, I am Jason, I am a tier 2 mine manager, and managed a mine at oallen a few years ago. My lovely lady Marie and I lived out there whilst managing the mine , I know and employed the locals, and have access to a few spots, and can give you a couple of people with land on the river either side of the ford, and plenty of info if you are ever interested.

Up north they are plagued with a parasite Tobacco worm . . burrows into their flesh , salmon are the poorest eating fish anyway . . mullet & catfish better by far

Inspiring Mel I needed to hear that myself, my son always asks me to take the boat out all the time and im always making excuses because it seems too hard in my mind (always got something else that needs doing), I’m going to make it a priority now to say yes more and treasure the family time so thank you. Favourite target species has to be squid they’re just so damn addictive

Flathead Fillets are my all time favourite fish....
Steam them with ginger / shallots / soy / garlic / chilli / rosemary & serve them on a bed of Basmati rice
