    I would like to see ilmango make some sort of “simplest functional versions” of his farms, basically the smallest and easiest to build a farm can be while still being functional and taking advantage of the same mechanics, making the least sacrifices possible when it comes to ease of use with the obvious exception of amount farmed per hour

    • @destructivforce2894
      @destructivforce2894 Рік тому +46

      There are some other channels that do this well, ianxofour makes a lot of farms with minimal effort to start that produce a usable amount of output. Building a low-effort farm for most items in the game is something I'd reccomend before trying to build high end farms for anything, as it allows you to prioritize whatever you use the most much easier, and helps give the materials to make your high end farms out of something other than cobblestone.

    I do recommend adding an obsidian wall above and behind the Iron Golem, to catch the flying projectiles made by the Wither. The projectiles will sit in unloaded chunks high up & cause lots of lag when you move through them later on.

    wouldnt it be possible to have a more efficiant/smaller but similar efficiancy farm by having multiple smaller loops, of cauldrons that have a check to see if they are filled with lava before sending them to the player, so that you have less idle time for cauldrons that are alraidy filled? or would the block splitting and merging be to difficult? it would be verry cool to see though

    • @TheRepublicOfUngeria
      @TheRepublicOfUngeria Рік тому

      I think that to replace cauldrons with redstone machinery to reorder cauldrons by their fill status would be to reduce the very means to get lava into cauldrons in the first place: where there is redstone machinery, there cannot be a cauldron to fill. The equation is: cauldrons swiped per hour times chance that a cauldron is filled, expressed as a decimal, equals total lava buckets per hour. Tight circles with a lot of reordering machinery would probably slightly increase the chance that a cauldron is filled but significantly decrease the number of cauldron swipes per hour.

    • @ariebaudoin4824
      @ariebaudoin4824 Рік тому

      @@TheRepublicOfUngeria definately not, first of all the biggest time to construct this in a survival world is placing the lava, so having to place less lava means quicker building times, and the redstone machinery needed for this probably wont be much bigger then twice the size of the cobble stone generator circuit that illmango build in his blast chamber. the difficult part is probably going top be how to redistribute the cauldrons after empieing them, but im sure the solution wont require nearlly as much space as the amound of idelinbg lava cauldrons in this machine can take up

    • @TheRepublicOfUngeria
      @TheRepublicOfUngeria Рік тому

      @@ariebaudoin4824 Pretty sure this is wrong. Sure, it will take a bit to get the source blocks, but not THAT long of a bit. And once they are all gotten the machine will run forever. Maybe for the purpose of your typical person they don't need to go this HAM, but if what you are doing is maximizing lava per unit time, the lava per unit time will easily eclipse a simpler farm after a day or so.

  • @Splarkszter

      Yup. I would guess in order of how essential the farm is (based on how much you need * how hard it is to gather without farming): Iron, dripstone, slime, honey, piglin barter, gold (for the piglins), redstone (probably raid, but mango doesn't like those), cobble, wood. I can just about imagine gathering the quartz, redstone, cobble and wood (I believe you don't need the blocks between the lava and dripstone to be nether wood, you only need wood for the pistons/noteblocks/targets/torches). So like minimum 4, but more plausibly 9. I could be missing something.

    Wouldn't it go faster if you sorted the lava cauldrons into filled and unfilled streams? So that you don't waste time pushing a empty lava cauldron past the player? You can just use a comparator to tell them apart right? The equilibrium of how many buckets are filled by the time they get sorted would drop, but the rates should go up overall.

    • @Raul-pg1pf

      Unless you wanna make it entirely detection based (as in, detects cauldron it's filled then push it towards the player) then you'd increase efficiency, but make it more bulky, occupying more space, and thus less efficient overall, I'd love to be proven wrong but this is the case with most farms anyway

    I recall someone farming the pillars the healing crystals are on, of course this requires a lot of withers, which means a lot of wither skulls.... It also requires enough end crystals to keep the cycle of almost summoning the dragon going (the summoning ritual is interrupted before the dragon is spawned, on loop), although end crystals wouldn't really that expensive to get in bulk for you, you're probably just missing a proper blaze farm is all (oh great, another project in the queue, two actually...).
    You can easily get something like 100K obsidian per hour by farming the pillars iirc (depending on seed) and technically a lot more, but farming the inside of the pillars is a lot trickier than just farming the corners or some outer portion, so 100K per hour give or take is a more realistic number.

    • @iIO_OIi

      Oh, but this lava farm is definitely an interesting concept for fuel, or just the lava itself (which, ngl, is probably what I'd use it for in a normal world).

    Just wondering, each coldren gets moved to be under a different dripstone about 50 times on it's way through, is there any significant loss due to the coldrens spending time moving like that? I.e.would it be better to move couldrens to the player while they are instantly replaced with a couldren that stays still until called again, if that makes sense.

      I’m not sure there’s a loss, because cauldrons aren’t in motion for more than one consecutive tick, so I don’t think they miss opportunities to fill, but maybe they do. Even if they do, that loss is negligible compared to the rates of successful filling attempts, and attempting to make a system that detects fills with observers and sends only filled cauldrons into the feed line would take a LOT more work and a LOT more space. You’d have to have an observer, a piston, and a piston feed merger for each filling station. You’d probably take up like… a 3x3x6 volume per filling station, need WAY more observers and pistons…
      Yeah. Theoretically, yes, you’d only ever get filled cauldrons sent to the player, but the cost of achieving that is exponentially more than just using brute force and economy of scale to get most cauldrons filled before they get back to the player.
      Now, if dispensers with empty buckets could pull lava out of cauldrons, that would change entirely. You’d just need banks of cauldrons being watched by observers that power dispensers. Basically, it turns it into a sugar cane farm lol.

      @@glytchmeister9856 I'm not saying it would detect filled cauldrons. Like 1 row of cauldrons would be removed and sent to the player, then that row is immediately replaced by a row of empties. So instead of moving the cauldrons around the whole system, it is the row selection that moves around putting selected rows into the player stream. So the cauldrons remain stationary the whole time they are filling. I think this would be no more complex than Mango's set up, just block streams and basic redstone. Like you say though the saving is small, the most they are gonna get is about 50 ticks in 20 minutes, worth it!
