Very satisfying to watch, congratulations. Is there any way to use the pig cannons with the chunks that the pig goes through not loading? I mean, if all the chunks that you have to cross get added to your world file, then its totally undoable in singleplayer.
At these velocities, you can imagine the pig warping from place to place, instead of covering a continuous distance. In one tick the pig is at 0,0 and in the next one it's at 300k,300k and so on. Only a handful of chunks get generated at every tick, and they are separated by 100s of thousands of blocks. iirc when La1m1e took the cannon for the first time, he only generated 100MB of data which is completely fine when we're talking about this kind of journey
@@JKM115 Is it deterministic enough to only load the same chunks every use for the same destination? If not you could be generating up to 100MB every use which isn't optimal.
@@JKM115however comma, every single time you use the cannon, it will generate more chunks, until each position you exist in during the journey has a render distance worth of chunks surrounding it.
@thebergerkind1754 and @kurtz8456 it is deterministic if you go at the same speed every time (which you should, since it's the same distance and starting location). However, like @theaureliasys6362 mentioned, repetitive uses of the 360º pig cannon to the same location could potentially begin loading areas around those specific chunks, which would be a major problem. However, given that you're literally moving so fast that the game doesn't have time to process all the chunks before you've moved on, it won't be a very large increase. It will settle out after repeated uses to only be fractionally more than the increase from a single usage. It takes long enough to charge up the pigs that you don't have multiple players in the air at the same time, which is the only way it could potentially have a player in the region long enough to result in chunk bloat.
