Sucks bro. Mines went out a week after you posted your video. Took them two weeks to fix bc of parts being back ordered. I requested they do both sides but the dealer said GM didn’t allow them to. 6k miles. Got the truck back then less than a week later the other side went out. That time it only took them one week to fix. So far the truck feels good as new. Hope we don’t have any more issues. Good luck!

My 2021 GMC Sierra had the lifter failure at 13600 miles. The repair was covered under warranty and they replaced all lifters. At this point I wonder if it is expected for them to fail again? @Andrescoutt You can't rule out them failing again. I would rigorously follow oil change intervals accordingly. Your oil % life indicator should never be lower than 15%. 8 quarts (7.6L) 0W-20 DEXOS, every 5000(8000km) miles TOPS ! There is also a software program that can disable AFM all together but the GM dealers won't do it. A private shop mechanic.

I enjoyed watching your video. I wanted to share my story on this issue as well. My 2021 5.3 is currently getting a new motor. Fortunately my dealership has treated me well and has provided a loaner. But the below has been my story
4600 miles bent push rod and replaced the one side
12400 opposite side bent push rod. They replaced that side.
28000 miles same issue. They replaced both sides
3 days later had a major fail. All kinds of warning lights and “diesel” sounds of failed lifters.

Your video just answered a lot of questions and I thank you. Mine 2020 Silverado RST Black Midnight Edition 5.3 with 10,000 miles and dealer just did second service two weeks ago dropped lifter a week ago tomorrow. They called today and said it dropped a lifter and they ordered parts today and said they were replacing all lifters in that bank. I asked why not all them and they said that is what GM said so your video answered that question. Bought it new 11/1/20 which also answered the fact it must have been built during the bad lifter period. I really love this truck and I am a guy coming from being a Ford guy for many years. Well at least they have taken ownership of the problem and not costing me anything at this point. I could sell it for a lot more than I gave but in todays market would cost a lot to replace even if I could find one like it although so look like it I haven’t seen any exactly like it. So guess we will see and I do miss it. Great thing is I have a work vehicle so don’t drive it everyday and we have my wife’s new 2022 Genesis GV70 we just bought two weeks ago.

I bought my 2021 5.3 GMC Sierra with the BDS 6" lift . I love my truck and waited a long time before purchasing it. I was hoping I would drive my new truck off into the sunset with a trusted and reliable vehicle. What GM won't tell you is that there is a problem with faulty lifters and bent push rods on there 5.3 and 6.2 engines. Less than 7k on my new 2021 GMC Sierra Elevation, I experienced a catastrophic engine failure which left me stranded over 500 miles from my home and no available rental vehicles for me to use to get home. My wife , grandson and my dog and I were not only left stranded, but my wife and I both lost a days wages. Fortunately my brother let me borrow one of his vehicles to get home. I really feel that GM and it's customer service department really let me down. They not only failed to provide transportation for me and my family to return home, but after my truck was repaired, I then had to drive back out of state again to pick up my truck and return my brothers vehicle, thus making another round trip out of state which again, took time off of my work.
My last truck was a 2000 Chevy Silverado with a 5.3 that ran 317K with no problems. I really want to know what engineers screwed up the 5.3 and the 6.2 engines.

Too much technology in these engines. Switching from 8 cylinder to 4 and back. It’s a truck. Keep it at 8 and forget it. I had a 2008 Sierra. Was a nice truck but had it’s fair share of issues. Too many times into the shop. Sold it over a year ago and bought a 2020 Tundra. Could not be happier. Oil change on the GM every 5000km. Oil change on the Tundra every 16,000km. Yes the Toyota is a little dated, doesn’t have all the bells and whistles the GM does, but personally I don’t care. It does it’s job. It’s a straight forward V8.

Oh my God! Not another bad news video. I just told limited Slip that after about a year my 2019 custom trail boss had its coolant hose pop off and nearly damaged my engine. I got lucky coz I stopped it immediately. This has happened to other people where they were in a freeway or somewhere they could not stop right away and their motors were toast. Not all git compensated either. Some were given slaps to the face like "you should've stopped right away ". Well what if you can't? It also is a safety issue in my opinion everytime you have passengers (kids). Such a shame. What's going on over there at GM man? This does not inspire confidence at all. I'm getting seriously turned off by GM and Chevy.

I have 2020 RST 5.3 nightmare truck that had a lifter failure June 1, 2021 at 3700 miles, build date was 9/20...fortunately they gave a brand new loaner Trailblazer off the lot . Shop said that one lifter was bad along with one bent pushrod...after the dealership received the backordered parts I got my truck back after 2 weeks, left side bank had all new lifters installed along with all the misc. parts needed for the job...I drove truck one day and noticed a strange noise coming from the front of the motor, I could feel the vibrations in the coolant hoses...I took the truck back and they replaced the waterpump, get the truck back and after a 10 mile drive the noise returned! I'm beyond pissed by now and returned with the truck and they again replaced the waterpump !! Tech took out for extended drive afterwards and the noise returned !! Service advisor calls me and says there was a TSB about an issue with replacement head gasket and that they ordered a new one. Dealership called me a week later saying all was now fixed by installing a new headgasket. I go pick up the truck and question the Service advisor as to how could a headgasket be defective, I also asked to see the TSB... He admitted to me that the tech had installed the headgasket backwards witch caused a blockage in the cooling system!! After almost 4 weeks in the shop I finally got my truck back only to find out one week after my lifters were replaced a new TSB dated 6/18/21 instructs the tech to replace all the lifters not just the one side !!
I opened a case with GM customer relations, I will request that all lifters be replaced...

I have had both sides replaced already and failed again within a day. The truck has been in the shop for more than a month and a half. Besides the repair update they also have the option to extend the warranty to 100,000 miles or 60 months. I have been told both by GM and the dealership it is not up to them to extend the warranty. At this point I would hope that GM or the dealership would step up but both will not return phone calls at this time

Just plug in a Range Technology dongle to disable the V4 mode and stop the transmission hunting for gears. Forget about those direct injection LT engines.
