I literally put no heat on my hair or extra products. And my ends are so dry and I have so many split ends. I’m not sure if it’s my anemia but anemia does affect my nails

    • @weo-mum-mum
      @weo-mum-mum 3 роки тому +26

If it affects your nails it will affect your hair. Both made of keratin. So getting a good trim bgg regularly and as far as the conditioners and oils etc. yes use them, but it will be a waste of time and money if you don't apply heat. Put an oil on, of your choice, wrap your hair in saran wrap and put your blowdryer on it for 15-20 minutes, depend in ng on the length and thickness. And then rinse it for just as long ,but with th ere coolest water you can stand. It will be hard to rinse it off with cool water but try to rinse off as much as you can. Use shampoo sparingly, but enough to create suds, especially in the temple area, rinse with the cool water and condition, or not. Depends on how it feels to you. Always try to wash in fairly cool water. If you can't handle it, then go ahead with the warmer water, but regardless, rinse with cool. The heat opens the cuticles on the shaft of the hair so they need to be closed up again. Hence the cool water.

I use mayonnaise in a hair mask, too. It's very moisturizing. I put the hair mask stuff on, enough to cover from roots to tips. Cover my head with a plastic bag, to hold in the heat. Leave it on for an hour or so. Then wash it all out. I ran out of regular mayo, and used chipotle-flavored mayo once. Once, but never again. My shower smelled like a deli. It made me so sick.

no matter what I do my hair is still dry.
2020 EDIT: Sooo actually on the same year i commented this i ended up getting a haircut in layers up to my shoulders which was my biggest fear but i knew it was the only choice i had left, and now im actually really glad i did what i did, after that i took good care of my hair and now i have my healthy curls and waves back and it ended up growing out quick for me at least.. some people don't really want to hear this but if you genuinely have really damaged hair there's really no solution to getting it fixed with some hair product, aloe vera, or any "at home products".. nothing really, the only solution though is to get it cut, this is coming from someone who had damaged hair from 2016-2019 because i honestly did not want my hair to get cut off but after doing what i did , it really paid off (┬┬﹏┬┬)(●'◡'●)
Edit: *Sorry if I made it seem so but... Dry ≠ Damaged/Dead. Dryness can be a result to damaged or dead hair, but sometimes you need to know if it isn't damaged and just dry and if you just need moisturizers, certain oils, and a proper wash routine to help dry hair.*

The only downside to coconut oil is that it is in solid form at room temp. So, if you use this in the shower or bath, its going to melt to liquid form when in contact with you or the warm water. However once it washes down the drain quite aways and has cooled (and the water with it/that passes cools), it can go back to solid form and cause a build up and possibly back up your pipes. So depending what area of the country you live in, you might want to be careful how much/often you use oils that are solid at room temperature.

I still have dry hair, but in patches, one on each side of my head, actually. But ascsoon as I could, I got it cut really short for me. Had to get rid of not just a colouring but a perm as well. Didn't think I'd ever have short hair again, but the love of my life died and I had to have a change. It helped me through some of the grieving process, lol.

VampyRagDoll yes it is true .... we have cuticle in the hair that does close and open .... and rinsing can help keep the cuticle flat and give it a bit more shine ....and it's the cold water that does it ...compared to warm or hot water ..... a jar isn't alive or have muscle but when you run it under warm water it expands ..... and when you let hot jars cool they tighten .....kinda same thing with the hair cuticle .

@Linda Glendenning It's not a myth. I have rosacea and hot/warm water makes it a lot worse. I take a fairly cool shower because of it and my hair has seen a great improvement since not using hot water on it or my body. Nearly every hair stylist, hair colorist or hair washer has mentioned to me that cooler water for rinsing out the conditioner is much better for your hair. Thankfully I have separate knobs for the temperature and pressure in my shower. The cooler water is great for waking up and feeling invigorated too.

Now I have to take replacement meds. Anyway, if you have a fast heart rate and the tell-tale dryness, be sure to have tests for an over-active thyroid ASAP. Untreated, it can damage your organs.

I actually think it may be because your hair has a lifespan. By that I mean your hair may stay in your head for e.g. 5 years and then it will fall out. And in that time it is only able to grow so much, say 12 inches, before it falls out. So it may actually be that your hair is unable to grow any longer in its lifecycle (the time it is in your head) if that makes sense… it will fall out before it has the chance to get past your mid back. I hope this makes sense! You could always try massaging your scalp regularly, that stimulates blood flow which encourages hair growth, but I doubt it would get too much longer. :)

Hi, Dr Lee! My hair is damaged/feels dry to the touch, but it gets very oily very quickly. I try to wash it every two days, but it happens at times that I need to wash it the next day because I don't want to go out with oily hair/oily scalp. So, I feel like applying oily things and conditioner would make it worse. Is there a solution to this? I tried baby powder and dry shampoo to avoid washing excessively, but nothing really seems to work. Also, your video is great as always! Thank you!

I've kind of been experiencing the same thing recently (over the last year or so, I'm 28) and I make sure to put conditioner only on the ends and avoid the roots. I use a clarifying shampoo once a week and a regular shampoo the other 2 times a week I wash my hair (I heard washing daily makes it oilier so I cut down). I *never* had oily roots before, but like you sometimes even if I wash it the night before I have oily roots the next day. Not sure why!

Apple cider vinegar rinse. Really. By using a the cider rinse you return the acid balance to the hair. A cup of cider to 2 cups of water. Collect it as you do it, and rinse several times. Then rinse that with cold water to close the hair shaft. And don't scrub your scalp. When you do that it stimulates the oil glands. And try not to wash more than twice a week. Every time you do that you stimulate the oil glands and they just keep over producing. No more powders or dry shampoo. If you feel you need to use something then just buy straight up corn starch from the store and use that, lightly, and only on the scalp. Then brush it out carefully. Fragrances in the baby powder are not good. I spent most of my adults years with very oily hair to the point where, like you, I washed it every danged day to go to school. My hair was dry and damaged till I tried the vinegar rinse. Now I wash my hair only twice a week, and sometimes not even that if I'm just at home. I also wear my waist length hair in two plaits. It keeps it from getting damaged.

I have tried every treatment i could think of..went to soo many hair salons tried coconut oils, macadamia oils, aergan oils you name it nothing worked. Went to the doctor and had blood tests done and they say I am healthy nothing wrong except iron deficiency..I got so fed up that I shaved off all my hair last month, it started growing a bit and I can still feel the dryness. Thanks for the tips! :) i have extremely dry and frizzy hair every day. It is so lacking in moisture that its been recommemded to me that i should apply a hair mask at least 3 times a week. But my hair still doesnt seem to absorb any of the moisture. When i apply the mask, its often too greasy so i have to rinse some of it off, so my hair becomes too greasy but then once its washed off or after a day or two my hair become dry again. And I've had my thyroid gland checked out so there doesnt seem to be any issues with that. Its so frustrating for me to get soft hair, it seems impossible.
Ive used coconut oil, egg yolks, advocado, lemon juice, and olive oil as hair masks. They all work great but my hair just doesnt seem to absorb any of it and my hair just ends up greasy and sticky. If you have any more tips it would be great! :)

I got mint shampoo because i heard its good, its not, noth my conditioner and shampoo are Avalon organics and and another one called Sukin...I sometimes use Jason. I find all of them disappointing and i just want my hair to look good. But as i said, the day after i wash, i look like i slept in a ditch.

*My youngest daughter has really dry hair for almost 3 years! She is now 8 years old...and still have dry hair. I have several children and cared for other neighboring kids not once have I ever seen dry hair in a child. Is this common or unusual? I have done deep conditioning, changed her brush and I have had to take over on brushing to reduce any stress to her hair. Her hair soaks up the deep conditioning treatments I do for her but in about 5 days maybe a week her hair gets all dry again. I am beyond concerned about how her hair is so dry and I mean like straw dry. I know if we dont get a handle about this then her hair is going to be a total wreck when she becomes a teen let alone a adult. She has long hair..like past her butt so I understand the environment can be a possible factor. Yet her hair is very dry over half the length is dry. I know your busy but this is something that I have done almost every home remedy and even store products to help her. HELP....I dont want her to have hardly any hair due to straw like hair :(*
