Principal flute at the opening of Bolero is absolutely magical. I've never heard a tone that dark on a regular flute (only on alto flute!). Wonderful performance all around!
50 years, 50 YEARS¡¡ listening Ravel's Bolero, as one of my favorite pieces. and here, after so many years, tears again in my eyes . its really amazing how the music lives through this orchestra, not only in the collective sound that they achieves, but also in their faces. there is so many joy on them that it´s a gift to the soul and the eyes see this. a couple of hours ago i saw Le Sacre du Printemps, by Stravinsky, same performers, same feeling, same happyness all around., just thanks from far, from Chile
And this my friends is why the "classics" will always remain classic. What a wonderful performance, taking three old war horses and bringing new life and freshness to them. This is becoming one of my favorite orchestras. And kudos to the audio and camera team... outstanding work. This concert is definitely going straight to my UA-cam favorites list.
ThÍs comfort is irreplaceable I am watching the cherry blossoms in full bloom under the moon light while listening to these masterpieces This is a blissful time for me A corner of Tokyo of the cherry blossoms in full bloom everywhere
Really outstanding sound on my $12 logitech computer speakers. The ambience is amazing. Those microphones on the stage must be super-sensitive. I noticed the use of plastic partitions between the woodwinds and the strings which probably make it easier to mix the sound.
As a secondary school boy, I was lucky enough to get into the local Junior Symphony Orchestra, stocked mainly with university music students and musicians in their 20s. In my first year with them as a 2nd violin, BOLERO was one of the pieces we played, and I was amused in a schoolboy fashion by the pencilled-in instructions on the music sent from a big London orchestra (The London Philharmonic?). This video reminded me of those 3 words: à la guitar next to the normal pizz instruction at the beginning of the piece. When you check and see that the violinists spend about 10 minutes before getting into the under-the-chin mode, it makes perfect sense, but I found it whimsical. It was a bit boring to rehearse the 2nd violin part, but in performance - WOW. Total magic. This was long before Torvil & Dean made the piece even more famous. You will notice how many of the string players are grinning happily towards the end - it is irresistible. Unless they are just relieved they can play properly at last. This was a great performance. Thanks for posting. 🎻 And as a curious coincidence, Torvil and Dean used part of Capriccio espagnol for their 2nd item at the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics
Fascinating programme, exquisitely performed. Additional kudos to video, sound, and editing technicians. Beautiful concert hall. I have always thought the purpose of Bolero was to work the orchestra into a frenzy.
If it is a matter of such importance, we will try our best to help you out! 😂 Hamburg's "Fischbrötchen" are famous and those are the the most famous places to get them, the city's tourism site says: www.hamburg-travel.com/discover-hamburg/hamburg-ahoi/hamburgs-best-fish-sandwiches/
The Capriccio Espagnol was outstanding! That was the first time I’ve heard the orchestral version of Appalachian Spring, and it sounded pretty good. For the chamber version check out hr-sinfonieorchester.

And mine are green. How about yours?
A particular solo in the Bolero turned out to be quite disappointing.......
The piccolo, right?
@@fredwilbur345 No, trombone - probably the toughest solo in the entire repertoire…..

Да, вы правы соло тромбона в "Болеро" одно из самых сложных. Здесь оно было сыграно отлично, у солиста просто своя интерпритация.
