"You're kind of really bad at it until your not" hits so hard. I'm still in my really bad at it phase of sewing. It's nice to hear someone on UA-cam talk about it. It can be disheartening seeing everyone make beautiful garments and I can barely sew a straight line despite working at it for a year lol

Trust me when I say that the way something looks on camera isn’t always an accurate representation of a garment. Comparing the thing in your hands and the thing on a screen is always going to make you feel like you are worse at it than you really are. Thinking you’re bad at something just proves that you know enough about the thing that you know what it is ‘meant’ to look like - which is a huge step in the development of a skill! Keep working at it, it’ll always be worth it ❤️

Look at your fabric and the seam allowance part and linkng it up to your machine’s seam allowance marks not the needle - pro tip

I spent the last two years sewing thru my stash. I finished it back in January & now I only buy fabrics per projects. It felt so good to get rid of all the clutter. This year I have been focusing on using the scraps up 😂 - so my weeks have been filled with making stays, patchwork vests, totes etc. It’s a lot & sewing 🧵 projects do take time…but you can do it 🙌✨✨✨ #keepgoing ✂️

Highly recommend DIY Daisy for patterns, they’re super easy to follow and very lovely garments. I think it would really work well for the blue, red, & white fabric with the squares!

I simply love your planning and attitude, so glad you madr a video. Looking forward to following for more. I am just starting to sew again and only want to make what I will actually wear, plan better for less waste, time and energy, and since I am old now am not interested in impressing anyone, simply have a workable wardrobe I like. Glad I found you!

2:59 You saying: Making 10 things in 8 weeks is laughable. I'm like: Yeah. That's way too many garments for this amount of time?? And then you say it's too little and I'm like too stunned to comprehend. I mean obviously there are professionals who do that for a living but for me who does it for fun like most of us probably that's VERY ambitious. So good for you! Hold your head a little higher, please! ♥️

I think I get caught up comparing myself to the people who are able to make a bunch of stuff over a weekend. I find the challenge super ambitious as a hobbyist sewist!

I’m also a slow sewist and 10 items in 8 weeks seems like a lot to me too. I’ll join you in challenging myself as well!

This is my first time watching one of your videos. I have a PhD in linguistics and I find your accent fascinating. At first I thought Australian and then English but with a lot of North American influence. Your rhotic R changes back and forth even in the same sentence. You have a very interesting mix of accents and influences. And I found the content interesting too 😊

I’ve always been told I have a strange accent, I have no idea where it came from. I’m Australian and have only ever lived here so it is a bit weird lol

❤ your challenge, I think I need to join you. The longer you sew, the bigger the stash gets.

The Rosery Apparel Pansy dress is great for a long sleeve dress (also short sleeves) I made one out of a flannel sheet and it’s so cozy. She also has a UA-cam video hack of making a corduroy pinafore dress from the same pattern!

I think you need to be a little kinder to yourself about this because sitting expectations and goals and challenges for yourself is awesome. But telling yourself that other people can easily do 10 projects in eight weeks is unfair to yourself.
A lot of the UA-camr I follow who have thousands if not a million subscribers, Rachel Maksi, for example, get completely burned out if they try doing a complete sewing project per week much less, in less than a week.
I fully support you setting goals and challenges if that's what works for your brain!
But also don't compare yourself to people who can pump out in a week.
It can take me six weeks to put out one project.

You’ve created an awesome plan and goals to git r done😝👏👏👏. Me as a mature woman have set goals with “the idea I’ll just do it”🙄🥴.
Then I eventually usually make it happen😵‍💫😅.
      See ya next time❤️😀
