Very well organized and thoughtful manufacturing of a custom order. Great tip about end joining of lumber so simple, I wonder why I never came across this before, Thanks. Customer is getting exactly what was ordered which is always job one for the supplier. I would not hesitate to place an order with your company. My suggestion would be to luggage wrap each pallet so as to seal wood aganist changing environments insuring that wood does not move/warp from humidity changes and or being rained on during shipping as this finished product is untreated/unfinished and will absorb moisture readily and move if exposed to water/humidity changes during shipping?? Very insightful. I typically would wrap pallets of flooring like that if I knew they are going to sit for more than a few days however I delivered this particular order 2 days after it was finished, so no concern there!

I have thought about run them across the jointer at the same time?

I’ve done that. The only problem with larger pieces you really have to be sure you can hold them steady. Otherwise a little wiggle and you’ll have a mark in the joint

Do you cut your flooring differently than you do other projects?

I assume you mean at the sawmill? No hardwoods are cut random width, I shoot for 1 1/16”. They’re sorted for high grade lumber and flooring grade and then dried.

@hillcustomlumber sorry, that's what I was asking. Didn't know if you tried to cut it in a certain way to help with width and grain patterns for flooring. I am getting ready to begin the journey of cutting and building a cabin and trying to learn as much as possible on how and what to look for. I really appreciate you sharing your videos and knowledge with us all. Thank you, Sir.

I sometimes do if I’m cutting for a particular order(specific width/grade etc.) but generally I just saw and dry the lumber random width and sort through it after the kiln.
