Thank you for this easy to understand tutorial. I received a finished quilt from my Aunt Betty. I wanted to display it and your tutorial made it possible for me to accomplish it. Also your instructions for adding a sleeve to a quilt during the construction process is very helpful. I make baby quilts. It never occurred to me to add a sleeve in case the recipient wanted to display it.
This is especially helpful since it shows how to add a sleeve to a quilt that already has a binding (as well as how to add a sleeve while sewing on the binding).

This is perfect for the little wall hanging I’ve just about completed. I’m glad I looked for this tip as I was just about to finish my binding and now, I’ll be able to tuck it in and get it completed tomorrow. Great 2 way tip! Thx
Quick and easy way too. I've always done it the hard way ( without a plan...) The only thing I'm going to do differently is I'm going to stitch the sleeve on before I sandwich it so I don't have to hand stitch at the end. Thanks!
For the quilt with binding already finished, are you hand stitching next to the binding and therefore around the whole sleeve, or machine stitching on the binding edge with the hope of following the same stitch line from the binding? Does that make sense? Do I hand stitch the entire thing?
Nice video. However, it would have been helpful if you'd indicated that the 1/2 mark is on the seam side of the tube, and then the seam side is placed facing down on the quilt.
Why when putting a sleeve on an unfinished side of the quilt wouldn’t you pin it in place before putting the binding on? That way the binding on the front side and sleeve on the back of the quilt get stitched down simultaneously. Then when you complete the binding onto the back side of the quilt there is no need for double stitching on the on top edge of the sleeve to secure it.
One would think that it's not a good idea to add the sleeve to the binding because, if the sleeve ever needed to be repaired or replaced, one would have to remove the binding also. If the quilt is moved around a lot or shown at several quilt shows, the sleeve might need to be replaced or repaired. I would not like the fact that I would have to remove and replace the binding too!
