Both of you just seem like genuinely good people. Thanks for making me forget about the world for a little bit, and cheers from Texas!
Thank you for joining us on my Star Wars adventure! :) Welcome from Cornwall UK! ❤️
To Steph's love of bots...."I've never seen such devotion in a Human before..."
24:40
"Only a master of *_evil_* Darth."
Greatest comeback ever.
Most ships in Star Wars are capable of hyperspace travel.
The creature in the compactor is called a dianoga.
Leia was certain they were tracking them, but since they had the plans the Rebels could ambush the Death Star.
Biggs was Luke's best friend on Tatooine. He left to train at the Imperial academy (which Luke also wanted to attend but his uncle kept saying "No, I need you here. You can go next year when I can afford more help.") Biggs made some friends at the academy who planned to jump ship and join the Rebellion, and he shared this with Luke as he visited him one last time before leaving. That scene was filmed but never made the final cut, but it is possible to see on UA-cam if you want to check it out.
Steph's excited face is so epic!! Love her reactions!!
Aww thank you so much haha! I do get very invested and half the time forget I’m being filmed 🤣🤣
It is fun to see Steph watch a movie we all know and love so well... it is like seeing it all over with new friends.
Thank you for watching along with me! I can’t wait to continue my Star Wars journey! 😊
This is perfect. You are observant, interested and listen to the dialogue. A pleasure to watch.
Thank you! A few issues I wanna iron out moving forward (lighting, camera, sound etc…) but really appreciate the kind words!❤️
Hi guys I'm 65 now I watched star wars at the cinema on its release in 1977 star wars saga has been a huge part of my life .that and the bond movies all the best to you both .
Thank you so much for watching! I am really enjoying my Star Wars journey so far! ☺️
Quote from my wife: “Actually, I don't like space movies that much...”.
So I became an absolute Star Wars fan...forever!
Thank you from Germany!
RIP David Prowse, physical form of Vader, RIP James Earl Jones, the voice of Vader. RIP Carrie Fisher, Princess Leia...So many now passed on.
So sad! Bless them! 😢
I was 13 years old in 1977 when I saw Star Wars in the Movie Theatre. The Special effects were ahead of its time. The Movie was originally called Star Wars because George Lucas did not know if he would be allowed to make more Star Wars Movies. It was renumbered Episode IV when episode V The Empire was released in 1980. He started with the first Movie of his Middle Trilogy.
The setup, the editing, your commentary, it's all great. Great video.
Appreciate it, thank you!
The Death Star was only one unit of the Empire. The Emperor is still in power and he and Vader still have the rest of the Imperial fleet.
a lot of people are going to say "you should watch this and this before this and that" SW is a massive universe with tons of content. I would suggest letting Steph watch the main films first and see if she wants to continue into the world of SW.
Can't wait to go along on this journey with you two! Love how your personalities are starting to shine in these reactions lately. Cheers
Thanks for watching!
I had the greast good fortune to see this at a drive in when it was first released. Always fun to watch a new person begin their journey into the galaxy far, far away.
I bet that was amazing! 😻
I saw Star Wars on opening night (after a dinner) as a gift for my High School Graduation from a couple who were friends of my family.
That’s so cool! I bet that was an incredible experience! ☺️
Lucas said that the story is really being told from the point of view of the robots - because even when they're separated, they are constantly recording everything and when they meet up again, they share the story. Also, this is the first time in movie history where the director was not satisfied with the final product - and the technology was invented later for him to go back and re-do the film and re-release it. He did it two more times after the original version was released - and both additional times - THERE WERE LINES WRAPPED AROUND THE BLOCKS OF THEATERS OF HARD CORE FANS!!! Also, this film was destined to be a dud as originally finished - it was rescued from that fate by then George Lucas's wife (Marcia Lou Lucas ) - who re-edited it.
About a couple of weeks ago I saw this on the big screen, with a live orchestra (the RSNO) doing the score. I also saw it when it first came out in 1977 (and was then simply called "Star Wars") *flexes wildly* 😎😜
That would be incredible!! I’m really enjoying my Star Wars journey! Can’t wait until the next one! ☺️
Grew up watching the original 6 and love them all
I’m looking forward to continuing my Star Wars journey! ☺️
You should do release order! Any other order causes spoilers, and even if she’s aware of those things, it makes earlier movies’ saber battles seem boring in comparison to the fast paced more recent ones instead of building them over time.
Agree!
Wow, I said the above after the intro, but after watching her great reaction and seeing that she clearly knows nothing, it’s even more critical that you watch it in release order to avoid the spoilers of the major twists!
Great reaction, looking forward to the rest.
Thank you!! I’m absolutely loving the journey already! When Han came back at the end ❤️ it really made my day!
The funny thing was that was a legit 1977 special effects not the 1990's added stuff (stormtroopers shooting Leia).
The way your wife/girlfriend watched episode IV was how I first watched this movie when I was a little boy 40 years ago. Her reaction was very genuine and I loved it. You earned my subscription to your channel. I hope you both will react to episodes V and VI and the prequels and I can't wait to watch.
Appreciate that! Thank you! The next episodes are coming soon! They are on the schedule 😃 thanks for watching!
Remember waiting in line at 10 to see this movie in 1977
Wow that must have been wild! 😀
The Budget was $11 million and it grossed $775.4 million at the theater
I was 12 in 1977 when this came out. After A New Hope came out we all had a ton of questions, even more after Empire Strikes Back (big reveal), more still after Return Of The Jedi. Ok now we started in the middle with episode 4 and now we're at the end with episode 6 in 1983! We had to wait 16 years,1999, for A Phantom Menace to come out so we could start from the beginning and work our way to the middle with episodes 1-3, a very different and risky way to tell a story, but it worked, George Lucas was a genius! There are many documentaries on the making of Star Wars and a very moving tribute to Carrie Fisher, who played Princess Leia. It's a fun journey!
I’m really enjoying my journey so far! Looking forward to watching the next instalment soon! 😊
I loved this reaction! You guys are great. I can’t wait for you to watch the rest of the original trilogy, then the prequels!
Will definitely be jumping back on to STAR WARS! just finishing a few bits off and then on to EMPIRE!
Thanks so much for watching! Really appreciate it!❤️
loved her reaction. i hope you continue on this voyage!
100% will be continuing!
I think when he was rereleasing these in the 90's and getting ready for the prequels, Lucas said that the technology wasn't there back then. But also, the studios weren't there: multi-movie franchises were rare-to-nonexistant. Most movies needed to stand on their own, even if they had connections to another one. If Lucas had proposed ending a trilogy like he did the prequels, the execs would not have understood, even if he said, "Don't worry; the next trilogy will fix it all!"
The ships chasing the Falcon were hyperspace capable, but there's no way to track a ship in hyperspace, so unless they knew where it was going to set the same course, they'd be going nowhere fast.
You guys are fun! I look forward to more movie reactions.
Appreciate you! Thanks for watching!
Lucky you enjoying Star Wars for the 1st time, I almost envy you 😁
She’s got a long way to go! We will be getting back onto Star Wars soon!😀
On your analysis I think you're close, but Lucas didn't originally consider the prequels. Lucas had 4, 5 and 6 in mind for his first script-meaning all three would have been mashed into one movie. He had to hustle and negotiate to get it made so he had to compress the first installation into just "episode 4". When SW was released it was just called "Star Wars"- no "New Hope". After it was a hit, he knew he had a path to make "Empire" and "Jedi". The prequels didn't really come into focus until the early 90s.
Happy Star Wars day !!
May the 4th be with you😉
You expain it very well!
You're watching the "touched up" version not the original version we saw in the theaters in 1977-78. In 1997 or so Lucas put out a new print with added computer effects and put in the deleted Biggs Darklighter scene. The deleted Jabba the Hurt scene was "fixed" with computer effects as well.
Lucas picked this part of the story because it could stand on its own if it wasn't a success. Lucas rewrote the entire story so much over the years that some of the details in the history don't add up anymore.🙄
Yeah, Ben not remembering R2-D2 always annoys me on rewatches haha
Alec Guinness was a real-life knight and warrior having served in World War II. His American co-stars said he kept things focused on the set. Carrie Fisher said he acted as if he was on the deck of a yacht.
Now that you’ve seen Star Wars 4, go watch the 1955 movie “The Dam Busters”, and see if you see anything similar .
Going into hyperspace evades anyone pursuing even if they are pursued by ships that can go into hyperspace because the pursuing ship cannot know where the ship they are chasing will end up once out of hyperspace. Get it? 😀
Dude your girlfriend/wife is the perfect woman to watch StarWars with. You are very lucky!!
She’s amazing 😃
Very good reaction from your wife, she seems very receptive to the Force, I think she will go far!
Thank you so much!
Note: you look surprisingly like Patrick Wilson (The Conjuring Universe).
Thank you for watching! She’s looking forward to the next one! Ironically my wife has the BIGGEST crush on Patrick Wilson so this is very funny to me😂 I don’t see it but I will absolutely take the compliment lol thank you!
@@Reactsandgames Now it makes sense why she chose you.😊
OK for the continuation of your adventures in a very close galaxy.😉
❤️
May the 4th be with you.
❤️
I've found you guys because of Avatar's reaction. Loved the dymamics of you both. Star Wars is my favourite saga ever and I can't wait to see it all here. You gotta do the animated series as well, it's the best SW ever
Appreciate the kind words! Are you talking about Clone wars? Because even I haven’t seen that! I wanna watch it but I have to get Steph up to speed on the movies first😂 thanks for watching!😃
@@Reactsandgames YES. all of them in fact. CLone Wars, Rebels, Bad Batch.
Clone Wars animated series might be the BEST thing ever done. It adds SO much depth into every character. It makes the...well...no spoiler here. but it makes things more painful and with more sense.
BTY. The Avatar's journey was amazing.
you guys are starting a hammer big journey into a whole new world keep it up guys and dont forget that here are also the sequels episode 7,8,9, the obi wan kenobi series ,the mandalorian series ,the book of boba fett series, the andor series , the ahsoka series ,the clone wars series and als roque one and solo a star wars story-but you have to do it also after watching episode 1,2,3 ,then in a chronoligical order(;Do inform yourselfs about it and of couse to answer the question my favorite is episode 3 Revenge of the sith along with return of the jedi -i kind of have tww in one place to hard to chose to be honest.(;See you on your next Star wars reaction hopefully soon.
The scene you are seeing was added in later.
Just wanted to say as a new sub, loving your channel and content. By the way, there's cool documentary called "Light & Magic" on Disney+. I highly recommend watching it after finishing the originals and pre-quels. If possible, a reaction would be cool also, it's a very good documentary! And sorry, if possible, definitely work on increasing your reaction video times, leaving so many great scenes on the cutting room floor. That's all I got. Wish you the best success!
Keep up the amazing work.
Appreciate the feedback! I love putting as much in a video as possible…the problem with a film like Star Wars is that it is LITTERED with copyright music and it’s a bit of a coin toss with UA-cam if they allow it or not. But we will keep trying to force as much in as possible 😀 I not really an editor but I’m always learning :)) thanks for watching!!
Star Wars A New Hope was released in1977
The garbage creature is a dianoga. I never heard an official reason why it's there.
Yeah I was always confused by this creature lol
As I understand it, it was there to baptise Luke.
@@mikek0135 I don't think that was It's original purpose. That came from a book of short stories and THAT book contradicts previous short stories. Lucas was only thinking monster to threaten our heroes. He likely didn't put any thought into how the Dianoga got on the Death Star.
@@rebeccaclementz3756 True, but George put alot of things in his movies without much thought to it, and then the fans came up with huge stories about them. So, it's fun to go with it.
Only here to support!
Love the funny clips you added!
Never seen any iteration of star wars! 🤷🏿♂️😅
Love Steph's addition to the intro!
Y'all are so adorable❤
Appreciate the support! Thank you!
All right, Kid, yer all clear ! .. Now let's BLOW this thing and go HOME !!! . We'll get Chewy stoned !
😂
Great fun watching Steph react ... I hope you guys watch them in order of release and not jump back and forth between OG and prequels ... Just my thoughts 😉
Thank you!! We are watching episode 5 and 6 then we will begin the prequels ☺️
FYI, the creature in the trash compactor is a dianoga. Think octopus but with an eye stalk, 7 arms, and a really nasty beaky mouth.
That does not sound good haha! I wouldn’t want to be trapped in with one of those things! Yikes! Thank you for the info!
Star Wars cost $11 million when it was made. Not the most expensive at the time but pretty high.
They are called Jawas.
I recommend 4,5,1,2,3,6 order when watching these movies.
Why? Lol
@@ReactsandgamesAfter watching episode 5 you can watch the prequel trilogy like a flashback. Then you can finish the two trilogies with its official ending of episode 6. Ending it with episode 3 won’t be as good as ending it with episode 6. This is just my recommendation.
No it don't make sense from 4 to 1. You will spoil the surprise that way. Watch it in release order. 4,5,&6
The budget was 10 million.
Would you say that was a lot back then or not? I suppose it was I guess! Although compared to how much money the franchise has made over the years…the best 10 mil they ever spent lol
@@Reactsandgames If I remember correctly, the way people talked about it, I would say it was an average budget, even perhaps on the low end. They got super creative. For example, the death star shots when they are flying over it, some of those they put together from battleship models and such, on plywood, in a parking lot.
@Reactsandgames: The budget was just under 10 million, and most movies of the day had a budget of at least 20 million.
@@mikek0135 Sounds legit.
1977
The.next one is good but the others fall below the mark.. in my opinion. .. some are good only ..yeah
Personally, I think George Lucas is full of shit when he talks about starting with episode 4 deliberately. I don't believe he had any of this shit planned out. That's obvious when you think about how much contradictory information there is between episodes. If you research the making of New Hope you realize how much of a collaborative process it was. Lucas is a great ideas guy, super imaginative, but the prequels show what happens when he doesn't have a team around him to focus and refine his ideas.
Maybe it’s because I grew up with them but I love the prequels….not as much as TOTJ though!
"Classic Steph."
It's interesting. When people make fun of others for being concerned about non-human characters "over" human characters, it says more about the person making fun of it than the concerned viewer.
Her fear for the droids during the scene made absolute sense, since 1) They were essentially unarmed bystanders, not actively fighting the enemy and 2) they are characters that we are clearly suppose to be concerned about, since we are focusing on them.
Your comment tells us that your issue is solely with caring about robots over humans, which you consider "wrong". But that simply shows that you have an unwavering anthropocentric viewpoint, and fairly shallow empathy for the non-human characters. It's 2024. That's a little harsh.
@@SubterrelProspector appreciate the comment…but you have taken a tiny comment between me and my wife and written a diary explaining the sort of person I am. You don’t know me. Don’t assume anything. It was literally a throw away comment as I knew how Steph would react. I had seen the film so knew everything was going to be fine👍🏻
is there proof that the prequels existed in george lucas' mind when this movie was being made, aside from him just saying they did? because i dont believe it
Interesting! 🤔
How can you have proof of what was in his mind all those years ago? I remember them saying early on that the films were planned to be a 9 parter, but I don't think many people believed it, as nothing like that had ever been done before.
Why Are You Spoiling ?
Everything is said in the movie.
I didn’t feel like he was spoiling anything for me! He just knows I can get lost sometimes in a movie! 😅
You should start off with the Star Wars Prequel trilogy first
Nah, order of release is just fine. I'd say it gives the most authentic experience.
@@franzferdinand5810 going by time line order is better you jerk
I wanted to start from the beginning as I love the prequels and so it could go in order but a lot of people recommended doing it this way first
@@Reactsandgames you should have started off by watching the Prequel trilogy first. As George said interview he it was meant to be watched in order from episode one through episode 6
@@BobbyMoore2-mp8wbNo, it ruins A New Hope if you watch the prequels first. Just let them enjoy this. They have made the right choice.
Great! It is very interesting to see your joint detailed reaction to the film Robocop 1987. This is a cool movie 🦾🤖🔥
Do you have any plans to do it?
I’ll add it to the list!
Cool! I will really look forward your lengthy and detailed reaction to this iconic movie 👍🔥
