Ah that is true. I mostly meant things an opponent can do that directly affect her health. Burning/flooding is more indirect whereas ramming is caused by the enemy and still counts as damage (since like burning and flooding it's not an enemy attack)
Grats on finally getting this video out. We have known that you wanted to do this video for quite some time, but didn't have enough time to get it done. Taking a little time off streaming seems to have helped, which I reckon is the purpose of changing up your previous schedule.
The version you have is a little gimmicky, but with a few changes you end up with an extremely strong boss fleet. For everyone in the comments who'd like a stronger and more reliable version: Shinano, if you have her, and a combination of Formidable, Ark Royal, and Centaur. My preference is Shinano, Ark Royal, Centaur just to eliminate the RNG of Formi, but they all work including a lesser but still strong version that's just Ark, Formi, and Centaur. For vanguard, you have a lot of options but some sort of tank up front is generally going to work better than praying for more damage with Cleveland. Yuugure, Ariake, Curlew, and Stephen Potter are all great carrier support depending on your needs, though for max power, Potter is my pick unless you need either IJN for Shinano buff (if running Helena). Speaking of Helena, she is just so good with proper timing, it's hard to replace her in that last slot. I'm still working on a way to weasel an IJN into the back to free up the middle slot, but still figuring out the math right now, and Helena Meta is not as good a test dummy as the previous two. To fix that air problem mentioned, you can always run Chesire as a tank and Curlew mid for lots of dakka.
Putting Aviation Oil on Formidable allows her planes to move fast enough to take better advantage of her own stop (though obviously at the slight expense of overall AVI). In addition, I recommend either Curlew or Stephen Potter as possible replacements for Yuugure. I have all three of them (plus Ariake) maxed out and honestly the only one I don't use regularly now is Yuugure.
What sucks for Yuugi though is that in practice, the only thing that ever really breaks carrier's new "hidden" defense is *other planes*... so keeping that from happening in the first place is better than what Yuugi (whose AA is horrible) has to offer. To paraphrase you in many videos, "It's better to out-damage than to tank". Curlew (who has the forementioned double main & AA guns) as well as a skill that massively buffs both FP/AA on a reliable basis offers much stronger defense by virtue of simply making those planes die in the first place. Similarly, Stephen Potter buffs her own AA as well as the total damage dealt by your vanguard's 3rd position (plus some other stuff) for roughly the first minute each battle. And if planes AREN'T an issue and you want dph rather than Curlew's dps... well... Ariake is a straight Yuugi upgrade at that point.
That made me remember my "main" fleet formation. I use Ark Royal, Formidable and I used Enty but switched her by Essex for consistency, while in Vanguard I use Portland, Helena and Sandy, but I will swap Portland by Baltimore or Sirius or Kashino, probably Sirius, but I'm still getting the 3 of them to level 120 to decide. What I do is, Essex or Enty use the 818 Swordfish for the slow, then Ark Royal adds the slow with her skill then Formidable also use her skill right after. Even Helena Meta can't move if you time it right, and with Helena skill do give even nastier damage, this fleet is just crazy strong. Even if Formi don't activates her skill, the 818s and Ark Royal will slow the enemy and most of the torpedos will hit. But, to say the truth, I still wanted a bit more slow in this fleet, maybe one activated by the vanguard since Helena Meta is crazy fast, also, I saw some people saying that the Ju87s have better accuracy then Ryuseis, but I still don't have them to try so I will try them later and compare the results.
I've always found that placement of your vanguard ships helps and I would recommend the tankiest ship in the lead Sandy in the back and the most vital in the middle to protect from the most damage
That does somewhat depend on the shipgirls themselves. Some of them do have skills that are based on their position...after that...it could be dependent on who you want to receive the buffs of characters with positional skills. Both Helena and San Francisco are good examples of this.
@@Hawk2zer0 that is a fair point but from my experience the vanguard lead tends to take the most fire the one in the rear takes a good bit of fire as well but the one in the middle takes the least amount of fire For this reason any time I use prinz eugen I always put her in lead unless as you brought up another ship girl needs that slot for there skill
Like the fleet Hawk can definitely see it working well. I run a fleet that has more consistency when it comes to plane attack. Essex, Intrepid, Enterprise, Baltimore, Sirius, and Yuugure plus Essex having the Frontier Medal. If your mob fleet has New Jersey and Casablanca/Independence retrofit the damage gets insane with those 3 carriers. 78% Aviation buff to Essex if she manages to shoot down 5 planes with her fighters. This is much less RNG based so even if Enterprise doesn’t proc Lucky E the back line deals massive damage.
it's a lot more manual focused than yours. Timing Formidable's attack (which should always be last) can allow for those Ryuusei hits. I need to try out Independence retrofit as well...she seems pretty solid so far.
@@Hawk2zer0 Independence retrofit can compete with some back line fleet carriers. If paired with a Cleveland class her self AVI buff gets her up near Enterprise in terms of stats. Great CVL for a mob fleet in my opinion.
I think Stephen Potah could replace Yugure, because she has Air Raid Assistance + Whimsical Protector, to increase the damage of the 3rd ship and decrease the damage of the first ship for 50s
Actually, Stun & Done is useful in some PvP. It directly counters 3 BB backlines as long as you have a resilient vanguard. But I would suggest replacing shouhou with a bigger CV like Shinano or Hiryuu. And Enterprise could also be replaced by those aforementioned CVs, but if you don't have both, Enterprise is still perfectly useable.
@@Hawk2zer0 I still use Formidable to stun the vanguard & try to wipe them out with the other CVs. Shouhou is just too fragile & her potential dmg isn't as high as Shinano & Hiryuu. The dmg buff Shouhou provides is typically less than adding a stronger CV. Enterprise is closer in power parity, but for PvP, the aforementioned CVs are just more reliable dmg. Once you wipe out the enemy vanguard, your CVs stay hidden for a very long time since the BBs can't shoot them with normal targeted shots (they can still use non-targeted barrages though & apply DoT effects such as burn or flood dmg). But it's key to wipe out that vanguard before they reveal your carriers, which is what stun & done is good for. Yes, you could alter things some such as using Ark Royal or Centaur, but stun > slow.
you dont need formidable. Go with centaur for slow, shinano and ark royal for converging torps. for the vanguard go max carrier buff with sirius, potter (or any air assistance buff), and anchorage 4pr ship for stun
I mean the basic foundation is there. Who you use is entirely up to you! My centaur isn't anywhere near Formidable in terms of level, and Ark Royal is in the same boat. Anchorage is also going to take a while before she can be fully "usable".
