I see there are 2 options for these pads on your website. Are they 5 or 6 inch?
Mine are 7 inch
I painted cars for a living from the 70s to the late 80s. I'm now 71 with zero health issues and hopefully, that's encouragement to you painters out there. Supposedly when I painted cars, the isocyanates in Supermax catalyst for example were a serious health hazard. RM Supermax was pretty much bottom of the barrel compared with today's paints. I don't regret the years I painted cars because it's a creative occupation. You never get tired of looking at one of your amazing paint jobs.
Glad to hear some good news thanks for watching
I'm 47 and want to take classes, it's something I kinda regret not doing in my 20s, I started out as an artist and feel it's time. 😊
This is definitely an advanced skill-level process, things can go wrong very quickly if you don't know what you are doing. CarPro Has had these pads out for a while and they work very well. They claim the Denim is equivalent to 2000 grit with a suitable compound. They also have a less aggressive "velvet" pad equivalent to 3000 grit. The wrong compound will also make things difficult, as it will dry and cake up. A spray bottle of water helps keep everything liquid and extends the cut/working time.
Thanks for the support and insight
Nice one Ryan. I’m competent with paint correction just not at the sanding level yet.
So these are very very interesting for me. What liquids work well with these? Also at what speed? I was going to use these with rupes blue heavy cut or mezerna 400..
Just not sure on what speed to run it at as I’d want to keep temps down? Also can we use a regular panel wipe along side the water?
Ta mate
@@jayroberts4900 I find they work better with compounds that are non-diminishing. While the Menz. 400 will work, for lighter peel removal and will finish better, it is a diminishing abrasive. Menz. 300 will work faster for moderate orange peel. Compounds marketed for "marine" use (ie gel coat), tend to have stronger abrasives and more polishing oils, that play well with these pads.
Man, this guy knows his stuff!
Found you from Samcrac, amazing work matching that corvette panel. Thanks for the tip on the denim pad turned out great
Been using denim pads for the last 5 years !!! Absolutely amazing !.
That Cutlass is gorgeous 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Damn man! You have outdone yourself! Result it's amazing!!!
OMG - amazing demonstration of the denim pad; thank you!
Thanks for the denim pad info. I have never used one, but will be shortly. Great tip.
Sent by Samcrac; staying because I'm new to paint work, and I'm excited to learn from you! When it comes to automotive work as a hobby, I'd say restoration is my favorite, so I'm looking forward to learning from you to expand my capabilities as a hobbyist. Thanks for showing this pad!
Hey you won a ZR1 Model Car please email me Samcracauto@gmail.com to claim.
So glad to see you on you tube. Eric found ya last night on there. Wanted to say hi and love that you're still doing amazing !!
Appreciate it. Hope all is well .I think of you guys a lot where it all started. Eric taught me well and never held back his knowledge. As well as the rest of the family. The good old days. 💪💪💪💪💪💯
So glad I saw you on sam crac's channel! Awesome paint work and awesome videos 🙂
I'm glad you pointed out the qualities of having some peel, I always strive for that glass-flat-look, never thought of it from your perspective. You definitely changed my perspective on this. At about 6:42 I can see the difference in the deck lid, and I will certainly be buying a denim pad. I like buffing, kinda weird, I know. For me it maximizes what I've accomplished. Next job, which is big and starts.....next week, gets some "tasteful peel". The 442, is anyone's dream, very awesome my man, very awesome.
I learn something new every time I watch your videos. Great work!!
Glad to hear it
Thanks for teaching. We need more people like you

Learn something new everyday. Hopefully i can teach someone something on my channel one day, Love it
Im so glad this video popped up in my feed. Been doing this for 2 decades and ive never heard of this method, cant wait to try it. my boss seems to think that pinch back should never happen, even on tri-coats. I use a value clear so it happens alot.
just paint tri coats at end of shift ,clear tomorrow, problem solved.
What are you calling pinch back, shrinking?
Great product, thanks for letting us know about it. The Cutlass 442 paint job was another level, color was perfect for the car.
Thank you
Awesome job !

Just saw that recently. I have to remove some orange peel on my first spray. Glad this technique is kandy man approved. Thanks as always
Glad it was helpful
Thanks for the tip. Hi from Réunion Island.
Very handy !
As many here stated, never heard of them before, and I've been in modern shops recently.
But a quick google finds them here in Australia 6-1/2" dia and 1.5" thick.
Definitely getting one (or 2) to keep on hand.
I bet you have to watch the sharp edges though !
Edit - just ordered 3 today $18 ea, easy to find online.
How well Where what site I want the exact same thing he had denim pad 160mm

Thanks 👍
That's a gorgeous job and I've never heard of a denim pad
Great tip for DIY. TY
Well that's a new one on me as well just like some of the others have mentioned but it does a great job on the nibs and peel, I love it when I learn something new even when it's just something simple but very useful🙏👍John UK
Great alternative without having to wet sanding after painting it.
Fellow painter here, and I couldn’t agree more, I prefer a really nice off the gun look, as to a full cut and polish job. Of course I’m ok with de nibing and some trizacking if need be. Looks great! 👍🏻
Thank you 😊
@@kandyman5315kandy man what is your take on the walcom carbonio 360 clear coat gun 1.2 could you do a review sometime in the future thanks I am a fan of your channel

Great tip I actually got a denim pad a few years ago and only tried it once but use it with the recommended compound never thought abut using 3M or something else. Have you used that pad with their recommended compound? They also have an orange pad as well.

That was cool!
You can't beat a buff job but if you can get it stright out the booth looking like is was buffed is satisfaction for me, tells me our prep was on point, i hate buffing, times i do if i run or sag
Cool color!!!
