This is a bit different from how my teacher analysed it. She said it was a response to the way the Tory government created a culture of greed, selfishness and disenfranchisement which ignored and ostracised the working class.
+cutebunbun1212 Well, you can argue that, as long as you back it up with quotations. The higher grades will consider alternative interpretations, and then evaluate which is more compelling.

My teacher did exactly this minus the sexual innuendos, thank for clarifying that my slight discomfort for this poem is justified.

Brilliant. Absolutely amazing content... one tip would be maybe to give a conclusion to the poem and explain the overall meaning and just sum it up at the end to help us understand just that extra bit more. But amazing content.

I used this poem to practice for my unseen poetry. The sexual imagery went straight over my head.

Interesting - the Year 9 class that I sat in on the other day - all seemed to think - as you appear to believe, that "she" did actually steal a snowman, go joy riding and break into peoples houses. I'm not so sure at all - maybe she took the snowman, Building a snowman for me something that is often done by little children and assisted by their father (or mother) a happy family celebration. Something that I think is missing in "her" life and in her past. The "Life's Tough." comment for me is pivotal - less so the sexual undertones that you allude to... What items are most prized in one's life? A car. A House. These are things that "she" delights in violating - or aspires to violate. A mirror - why would this be important? Not for me the self obsession that you suggest - rather that a mirror is something personal - one imagines someone checking their appearance before they go out for the evening, or just checking that they are cool or beautiful. Interestingly you didn't suggest that the door knob had a sexual connotation. For me this is a people much damaged by "her" abusive upbringing - "she" has constantly heard that "life's tough." I feel life has been more than tough for "her," she has been damaged and wants passionately to wreck as much damage on others as she can - yet I am unconvinced that "she" has done more that think about house breaking and joy riding,...
Hello David. Well, any interpretation must be validated by textual reference rather than belief. To simply assume that in her confession she might be making up stealing a snowman and making up joy riding, but telling the truth about everything else is odd. You could be right, but would need a lot more evidence. I think the rest of your interpretation could definitely be backed up by textual evidence.
