Thanks so much for watching guys! I apologize about my "plosives" being a little loud in the first quarter of the video, I adjusted some stuff towards the end and it helped out:

I played this for the first time yesterday. I never played Civilization, and was EXTREMELY overwhelmed. There's so much going on! Thank you for breaking it all down so well. :)
You’re literally the only reason I get into these Strategy games. You make it easy and Enjoyable to learn about the game. Makes my game so much enjoyable and last a lot longer.
Dude that's such high praise. I have the same treatment coming for King's Bounty 2! :)
/same Spatacus' ck3 tutorial series is the only reason i now enjoy playing that game
Ditto. All his tuts are extremely good. Had stopped playing 3 kingdoms until I watched his videos on that subject. He’s a godsend!
Just bought this game yesterday and was still relatively lost after doing the tutorial. Thanks for all the help :)
You're very welcome! If you need anymore help let me know!
It is possible! I have been listening to an American and not stopped after 30 seconds. There was no yelling, no overenthuastic fake, no OMG and even no ‘we are the best’ bullshit. Instead there was a very nice voice, relaxed explaining and expertise. Thanks for your tutorial…
My pleasure friend! Hope it helps break down some of the mystique of the game :)
The game’s highlight is the combat system, I was blown away with the turn based strategy style in the battles, it adds so much depth into the game. Hope you do a video on the combat system of the game.
Absolutely! Do you think you'd prefer one covering things on the bottom level with just land units - or more expansive with the naval/air as well?
@@italianspartacus not OP but I think the whole shebang would be beneficial to everyone
I like the war support feature, prevents militaristic civs from snowballing
@@italianspartacus everything! :)
@@italianspartacus well a comprehensive covering would be nice, but currently the endgame combat is a bit clumsy from my experiences. Medieval and industrial era combat really shines for me and I think that is usually the make or break point of a game, and I would guess quite a number of players would love some tips.
Oh my god, your videos are awesome. Just discovered you, but you have such a professional tone and matter-of-fact delivery, it's EXACTLY the kind of videos I look for. Well done, sir. Love the content already. Subbed.
Thank you for taking the time to spotlight this game. I have been playing it the last few days and still learned some useful tips. I hope to see a playthrough from you some day as I would be curious to see your choices. 🙂
Thank you so much for watching!! I'll see about dojng a stream soon ;)
I love this game. It’s so nicely designed
It's fun but i get stompedby the AI lol
this video is by far the best explanation - super concise and detailed. needs more views!
Very complete startersguide well structured and no bs. Well done!
Thank you for this content man! a very solid introduction to the game for newer players!
Always brother! Thank you so much for watching!
Ty for taking the time and effort to do this :)
My pleasure!
I really enjoying Humankind, a different alternative to CIV6, cool how you can combine and mix cultures to create something uniquely your own
Ty for the video, saved me so much time trying to figure everything out at the beginning
Great video... Really helped me understand what I was hoping to know about the game! 🍻
Always happy to help Jeff!! :D
Thanks for taking a look and creating this video.
My pleasure TOny! :)
aha! Thank you so much! Your video made this game so much better for me.
I’m in love with this game allready.
Would be pretty fun to get a multiplayer campaign match going on the channel between you and a few buddies
I'd love to do that as well! :) I'm goign to look into it!
Super informative and a joy to watch, as always :)
Thank you Annie!!
@@italianspartacus You're very welcome! Think you'll be doing a playthrough of this game on your channel in the future?
Love the videos, keep them up! Quick note on the decisions in neolithix, most of the research reductions are for a single ancient era research, not necessarily permanent. Which means its only like a 3 or 4 turn difference for a single tech in normal. One thing that is worth doing is staying in neolithic to get the knowledge star in specific, as that will give you a permanent neolithic legacy trait, which the pop and hunting starts do not grant
Oh shit great call man! Wasn't aware of that!
Finally a guide I can follow
Superb video!
Thank you!!
Super helpful video! Thank you!
Absolutely! Thank you!!
It so cool that you can basically insert yourself into ancient culture, its straight out of a dream
i love it! :D
32:15 Ah, Last in First out production queue. This video has been helpful so far.
Glad I could help my dude :)
awesome video thanks
Great video!!
Thank you!! :)
Happily purchased via your Nexus profile!
Thank you so much brother!
I've never played this genre but I suspect I'll enjoy it. I definitely have much to learn.
Your usual high standard; haven't really caught much of you since your excellent reviews of various armies etc in Banner Lord (where we had a discussion on data presentation etc over a few of them).
Very good coverage of major topics, thanks. Look forward to more. Have been considering the game, but I tend to wait until they're discounted these days.
Have you got a play through going on? Can't see one as yet.
Cheers
Just got the game, stumbled across your video. Great stuff!!
Thank you for watching my dude!!
Never really got into the "Endless" games. Perhaps it is time to re-evaluate my relationship with Amplitude. The game looks great! 😍
I would recommend it, yes. They add so much more content to the usual turn-based strat game. Endless Legend is one of my absolute favorites, with Civ as a close second, so having a game like this that's a mix of the two? Ugh, pure magic for my soul.
@@pikebraingaming9659 Sounds like a perfect combo for you! :D
A trick i found was if you put your scouts on autoexplore right at the start of the game they will beeline for resources and pick them up fast as possible giving you a head start
I see a hotfix coming for this
Huge thumbs up from me, thanks!
Thank you BATTLE BROTHER!
I'm a big fan of Endless Space, so I think I'll give this one a shot - I love Amplitude's style of games.
you'll enjoy it! :)
Thanks for this. I have a ton of time in the game but I still dont get influence and religion. I just today figured out the territorial demands and such from AI. Got more than I came for. Seems like they took their lessons from ES2 and built on them even more
When queueing technology, you can also click on a technology in the tree and the game will queue up the techs you need to get there.
e.g. clicking Imperial Power would have queued up the prerequisite techs.
Interesting. Thanks. I been clicking one by one..
Wow 1 hour okay I gotta delve into this
Having played Endless Legends, a lot of this looks familiar. It's obviously much more fleshed out. I may have to give this one a try.
technology is so important you listed it twice lol. you mislabeled the religion tab. thanks for making this it's really informative so far.
Super NB Tip : Set "Auto explore" ON and your units go directly to curiosities, food etc. without you having to look for them. Huge boost to early game. Try it and you might be first to be able to grab those bloody Farming guys that steal your population :)
It's nice, but the game is playing for you at that point. Eventually it'll get a hotfix and you're gonna have to really learn all that. But yes it is a nest trick to use, I just recommend getting ready Incase it does get fixed. Mainly cause online players will complain about it. But I only play against AI.. so it'll suck if it goes.
Thank you very much; I've just subscribed. This game is so Immersive. I wish it was possible to merge this with the Total War battle mechanics i.e. fight battles as you do in Total War.
Oh man I'd love that but as you get into larger battles you'll see that it's actually really fun and challenging
@@italianspartacus Kcool. I'll start playing tomorrow.
i would love to see you play this game but with a single city challenge as well for added fun :)
As an italian, i'll say
Grazie mille
Prego, fratello :)
Okay I'm falling in love with this game, I'm currently in the ancient age, sharing a fairly large continent with the Egyptians, they claimed a region bordering my direct territory, there still a few regions of no man's land between us, i asked for the region in a treaty, and they just gave it to me, called the deal spoiled but hey, they were reasonable
Sounds interesseting
IT IS!
I am Spartacus!
correction at 8:48 you imply that taking the extinguish option would give a -25% tech reduction to all city defense techs and that is not true. The -25% tech reduction is specifically for the specific city defense tech at the start of the tech tree and does not affect any techs after that one. In case any one is wondering there is one event for each of the four starting techs, but if you choose the -25% it only affects the starting tech you chose and no techs after them. sorry just wanted to get the correct information out there i have restarted the game multiple times because i am frustrated with the balance, and was just experimenting to see how some of the mechanics work.
Make sure you always get the neolithic knowledge star, even if it means staying a few turns
@@calvinwilson3617 how come?
This was pretty helpful. One thing that I still don't entirely understand is the War Support. I had recently played a game where it was quite early in the game, maybe about 3-4 eras in. The notification had said that someone else was close to a war victory (I think it said via War Support). Do you have any idea what I'm talking about? (lol)
Sure thing, let me see if I can help (I might do a war/combat mechanics guide): So war support will go up/down as grievances/demands are made against you. Forgiving a grievance lowers war support, making a demand increases it, same thing with treaties getting rejected. Skirmishes, prior to a war, also drastically increase your war support. Basically, once you actually START a war, war support will raise/lower depending upon whether you win/lose fights. If you're winning, yours goes up, while theirs goes down. Once they hit 0, it'll force a surrender, where you then use War Support as a currency to make demands of the opponent. This enables you to take their territory
@@italianspartacus Well it can allow you to take their territory. First you subtract the cost of the grievances you had against them from the war points you won. If you have enough you can force then to give you other things, each has a cost which you can only afford up to that war points won. The bigger the get the more it costs.
@@slimrock This war score mechanic really sets humankind apart. It's a new thing in strategy games like this because it makes your military campaigns more meaningful. If you win victories, your opponent's score drops. You can force your enemy to surrender. In this way, you can make purposeful decisions (think invading enemy territory to force a decisive battle) on the map that will translate into diplomatic outcomes.
Havent watched the vid yet, but will this be a tutorial series or everything covered here?
Most of the basics are covered here, I'm goign to expand into other topics in their own videos - so I suppose it is a series hahaha
Awesome thx
Just a small correction on your info on era units and buildings. The buildings you have built stay on map with all their benefits you just cant build more of them. The units are only available to make until you unlock the next unit of that class, example if ya have Egyptian markabata they become obsolete with crossbowmen.
Dude 100% I absolutely butchered my explanation here. I meant Emblematic buildings that upgrade another building will go away when you go to the next Era. Sorry about that and thank you for keeping me honest
I'm having troubles managing population/food. I am in food deficit every so often, do I have to build farming districts every time ? It's quite annoying to have to delay my production to avoid losing population because my queue is clustered with farming districts and food infrastructures
Same!!! I have a big city built and now I have a food problem. I have my science gain and other stuff is doing fine when I gain. But my food is trouble!! Gonna die :/
Im torn on wether or not to get this game. I own civ6 with all exansions but never really got into it. With that being the case i might not enjoy this either, but i feel like i SHOULD enjoy these...
I honestly can't get into Civ. THis? I fucking love
@@italianspartacus alright, i might give this a shot then :)
I cant work out science tiles. I'll see a tile (hot springs) that has 2 food and 3 science but when you build a district next to it, to exploit it. The science then dissappears.
awkward question but what is the lenght of average game? is it something like civ?
I think he said 300 on normal speed
I really want to get into this game, but I just can't be arsed with the learning curve. And sorry, but I still haven't seen it clearly explained yet.
that's just a big part of the genre mate. you can either play lower difficulties where your mistakes don't matter (this is what i do to start), or you can spend a long time trying to learn the mechanics and still make the same silly mistakes, but on a higher difficulty lol.
How do you increase stability? Just by buildings?
Commons Quarters, Garrisons, and certain actions :) but the commons quarter is your best bet!
Like he said commons wuarters, BUT also the religious building that looks like a circle. It gives 20 stability and has saved my ass a bunch
Mycenaeans leader looks a little..out of place? Do they just do avatar creator randomly?
I think it's a bug where they swap the model - he was originally the actual Beowulf character
Im playing the game on town getting whooped. My civ strat doesnt work 😭
How did they get away with ripping civ off so much?
I think for the shift click on technologies some1 in the development team just fk.d up... when i shift click i know its is 1 then 2 and then 3... not 3 2 1....
would you say food is OP. I'm not a fan of games that only have one real playstyle because of balance or whatever. in most strategy games it ends up being science, but from my few hours so far it seems to be food.
I tend to crank food up high and set every city to growth. Mostly for the units and then also filling in slots for production of food, science, etc
I did buy game some days ago. Tutorials are only videos with fast talking. Still confused what I should to do. I did not watched this totally yet. /// Thank You your video. I hope You speak 1/4 slower. Now I did used 75 % speed. UA-cam do not cope make text to fast talking. Many do not have English mother tongue.
Autotext to your video "father searched Story expands ultrathin ultraportable" ... "untight notifood expected sent me a page ". example
What happens when another player's Society is "taking" over one of your cities/outposts?
They get a grievance, basically a casus belli to go to war against you.
I found the tutorial lacking. It tossed me into the game and failed to explain basic things like cost of outpost and towns which leads into everything else. As a player of CK2 CK3 all Civs and Endless games I found it irritating that they failed to mention that the most important thing is INFLUENCE. Everything at start cost Influence, you want an outpost, get some influence. Want to connect a outpost to a city, get some influence. Want to turn a outpost into a city, you guessed it Influence. Want to link a commodity, yup influence again. Then we get to civics, you have two choices, again either option cost influence. I like the system but when something is SO important, I would argue the most important you should mention it at start of the game or even as the game is about to start.
Also getting that legacy trait from Neolithic is probably the smartest thing you can do in that period and again most these help videos skip it. Get the second star and you can get a bonus that last the entire game or so I been told.
I just started playing so I'm here hoping to learn more. My IQ of 5 lol
Lol both icons are diamonds.
Soooo, this is Civ 7 then.
not in my opinion. this plays a different role for me than civ does, it has a different feel and feels a lot more mechanics based. i like it, but i'm playing it with civ, not instead of it.
The game makes no sense coming to it from Civ VI, hopefully this video might get me to like HK
I mean.. its like.. they really went out of their way to reinvent the wheel didnt they... when the civilization franchise already laid down all the rules and techniques... and it made perfect sense how to evolve from it.
This game here looks nice but operating the mechanics and understanding them going into it are a freaking nightmare... I'm sure it all makes sense once you've climbed the steep learning curve, but it sure is a mountain of a deterrant. Why overcomplicate things so much like this game does...
Its a pass for me.
Game is trash
Why are you here then?
Because i m a fan of italianspartacus , but i dont like this game
Why is it trash?
I think people would be interested in why you think that so we can have multiple viewpoints on it. I think it looks okay but I haven't played it or done much research. Are you just comparing it to Civ or what?
@@Tomezilla514
I would like to know too. Because of this comment, I withheld the purchase. I'm very curious about what's going on
