I bought a new TX22 and Keltec P17 together. An Armscor round exploded in my P17 and damaged the slide opposite the exection side. Keltec had it back like new in 3 weeks and even polished the ramp. My insignificant review. I love shooting to P17 way more. Better trigger, slimmer, way lighter and comes with 3 x 17 round mags.

The Beretta APX i noticed it ejects the spent casings perfectly. They don't fly into the next county, don't come near your face and they are consistent!
Unrelated but just wanted to share. Years ago I had an H&K Model 91 the 308 model. Now trying not to exaggerate that thing ejected shells about an 70 feet. Also a characteristic of the ejection was a dent in the side of every case. The chamber was also fluted so that left marks on the cases.

I got one of 870 youth guns for my grandson. He went from the shortest stock to the longest in 2 years, then it was way too short for him. So I put on a Houge overmold stock, and now I finally have a handy little 20 gauge for me.
Eagerly await that release. Wanted to grab a micro 9 over the holidays, was considering Canik's sub compact as an alternative to the Mako I was leaning towards...but had a strong feeling Canik could and would do better, so held off on a higher dollar commitment and grabbed a GX4 because why not, with sales and 50 MIR? Glad I waited. The mc9 looks like a good offering, will be a baby brother to my existing Mete SFX and will take existing Mete mags. Best price I've seen so far is 399 if that holds true. A Ruger 10/22 is a fantastic gun for all the reasons you mentioned and more. It is a super plinking gun and great for training kids. Yes, the 870 used shotgun. I did get one many years ago at a pawn store. It was in very rough shape. For me it became a project gun. It has a 28" barrel which is great for dove hunting where I live. I did get some used chokes because it had none with the gun. I also hunt turkey as well and it does just fine with a turkey choke. I refinished the wood and blued it. I bought a Carlsons, 20" barrel and it works for home security. The list was good. Thanks Outlaw.
Got mine when they first came out for $400. Worth every penny. Mags are plentiful and cheap. Trigger is pretty amazing. Very little recoil. And it looks badass. You can find them for $350, which is a steal. And now they have the Tactical and a compact (Centurion) coming. Really trying to NOT buy a Centurion when they release...but I may be weak.
I never get tired of telling everyone that the Masada is awesome. Only real downsides are lack of aftermarket support, and finding magazines is a real chore. I had my email on every single website that sells magazines for several months. Finally they came back in stock in two places and I was able to get some. The two places were IWI and Bud's Gun Shop. With a little patience you'll get the mags you seek, but it's a con on the gun.
What never ceases to amaze me is that with the little English that I speak and this guy with the speed that he speaks I understand him perfectly as if he were speaking my native language, unbelievable, great video as always.
My EDC is the Ruger LCR, pocket carry but with a kydex trigger guard with a backward hook on it. This takes advantage of how many pocket objects get caught on the pocket during removal. The hook catches the pocket and the gun pulls away from the trigger guard as it is drawn. Safe in the pocket and yet quickly drawn to the ready. Although only five rounds, revolvers don't jam and always go bang when the trigger is pulled.
I left the NV Highway Patrol in 2005. We were still issued the remington 870 at that time. I loved to take my old wood stocked 870 out four my quarterly qualifications, and lots of fun times at the range in between. That old girl could slam those rounds out and I really felt comfortable driving my cruiser with that sitting in the rack next to me. Now I work in another field and carry a Beretta APX A1 as my duty weapon. Interesting to see both on this video/list. Take care and be safe!
I love my S&W M&P 15-22 2.0. It trains your muscle memory to the AR platform while being super lightweight and shooting 22lr for cheap range days. And is priced around $400 depending on where you get it.
I love your humer concerning the 10/22. I don’t remember exactly when mine was built, but it was either 1963 or 1966. It is in original condition and still runs really good. Your idea of covering reliable budget firearms is fantastic.

Eh, Huck the Fawks😁 Go 'clones! Rivalry aside, I often suggest used LEO Glocks, Sigs, and M&Ps. Also, don't be too scared of factory cosmetic blems, especially IWI.
Masada is a great pistol. I enjoy shooting mine. If you buy one you should know that the magazines that come in the box are probably the only ones you will ever see. I have been trying to find magazines for it for 5 months now, and there is nothing available. I call IWI pretty often and ask about the availability and they swear blind that there are more magazines coming any day now. They've been saying that for 5 months and I have yet to see any magazines.
Remington 870 used to be a fine shotgun! Had one back in the early 1980's. Had a Winchester super x mod1 around the same time. Never had any problems with either of them.
10/22 all day long, you can treat it like a beer can plinker, you can take it to the range and work at 25 50 75 100, you can shoot Steel Challenge, you can shoot Appleseed, and do all those things in any setup from bone stock iron sights to swanked up Kidd-maxed nice-optics precision machine. You can build them into an AR style chassis. They're really fun all around and you can't beat learning marksmanship at the cost of .22LR.
I bought a Remington 1100, 870, and 1187 in the last 5 to 10 years and every one of them had to be returned... but I have a few 870 wingmasters and 1100's that were made 25 years ago and earlier that still function flawlessly. It's a damn shame what they did to that company... Great video as always keepem coming brother!!!
@@Rio..o7.. not smooth and lots o' plastic innards. Cheap, yes. Reliable, mostly. Rugged, well that depends on how you define it. I live in rural AK. Would carry an 88 to a range, never never never into our backcountry. I've had too many Mossys (500s and 930s) to trust my life to them.
@@armstrong2052 I've had to repair all my Mossy 500s and 930s. Mossberg customer service is great and parts requests never bother them...but I've never had to call Benelli about anything.
I've had great luck with Remington 870s, carried the same Police one at work in rural Alaska for over twenty years. Never a hitch. I also have one of the "bad" 870DMs. Mine's never missed a beat, but I guess either the stories are overblown or I'm incredibly lucky.
I don't believe you can do too many of these best budget gun videos. Most people like to get the most value possible for their gun dollars. You are absolutely right about the used gun market. My 870 cost me $150 it has polymer furniture and had a 26" barrel on it when I got it from a young lady whose father had given it to her when she moved out to live on her own. She promptly but a cable lock through the action and stuck it in the back of her closet until one day I happened to be at my local FFL's store when she walked in and wanted to sell it. My dealer had probably a dozen new 870s on his racks and didn't really want a used one. Even a used one that appeared to have never been fired since it left the factory. So he turned to me and asked if I would be interested. He told the young lady that if he were to buy it the most he would offer was $150 so that's what I gave her and two weeks later at a gun show I picked up a factory 20" cylinder bored barrel for $75. I also a few years ago picked up from that same dealer a S&W 4" Model 65 357 for $250 so there are real bargains to be found on the used gun market. As far as new revolvers go I have had good luck with Taurus about 20 years ago I bought my first Taurus a model 85CH, 357 snubby that at least for me is just too light to control when loaded with magnums, but it is manageable with 38 spl +Ps, that was for several years my EDC until I replaced it with a S&W 442. I also stumbled across a 7shot 357 Titanium snubbie from Taurus but at about $575 if I remember right some folks might not consider it a budget gun. My point is if someone is willing to look at a used gun, and I don't consider buying a good quality used gun like a Smith or a Ruger to be settling, then a person on a budget can get a really good gun without the shame of buying a HiPoint. Unless of course they are looking for a PCC, my HiPoint 9mm Carbine I bought used for $125 has never failed to go bang when I pulled the trigger no matter what kind of ammunition I put in the factory 10 round magazines. Mine is an older Carbine from before they tried to make them Tacticool. I eagerly await The 5 Best Guns #s 3 through infinity.
Thanks Chris, been following you for a while, and I gotta say that you are by far, my favorite source for gun info and new products hitting the market. Love seeing what you and Mrs Outlaw come up with everyday. Thanks, and keep up the outstanding work!
LOVE budget gun videos. Suits my budget and my interests. I've started to get more picky about the guns I keep, and recently traded in a Smith & Wesson striker-fired pistol that felt like it was a toy put together for kids who couldn't buy real toys, trading it for a Ruger I really like. Fortunately, one local gun dealer takes trades and has lots of good-quality trade-ins for sale.
Lately I have been groov’n on my Ruger 10/22. Not only did I add some 25rnd mags, I added a big a&! scope so I can bang round after round after round into the same hole at a bunch of yards down range. This one is super light, relatively accurate and total cheap and fun to shoot.
Yes, please go for the three-peat. Also, Taurus. As I recall, you generally liked the Taurus pistol(s) you reviewed in the past. My G2C and TH9C have been rock solid reliable for several thousand rounds each and still going strong.
Ditto my g2c. It is my edc gun over even my CZ p10c. I have carried my g2 every single day for more than three years. Even when I carry the p10c, the Taurus comes with me as well.
YES, definitely more videos like these! As far as the IWI, I do really very much like the Masada. I would definitely buy a compact size version. The new slim is nice if it was 4 inch barrel in compact size.
IWI Masada 9S is also a great gun. When I first look at the Masada 9S it looked like a toy, but when I got the Masada into my hands it was no joke, I mean the slide is heavier than the frame but when I add the mag in; the weight is balanced.
You should look into Stoeger STR-9 I have the STR-9c (compact with a 3.8 inch barrel. The the STR-9 has a 4.6) comes in 9mm, my kit came with 1x 10 round mag and 1x 13 round mag, a cheesy mag loader all for about 250. I got mine when the rebate was going on, got 50 bucks back. You can get larger mags, like 15 and 20 round mags. It is VERY reliable, eats all sorts of ammo, has a loaded chamber indicator, good sites and very accurate. only thing you might not like right off is the backstrap is VERY aggressive but that can be "smoothed" down via rubbing a polished round bar (chrome socket extension) over it. Someone described it as a poor man's Glock.
I love that you review good quality budget guns. I hate gun snobs, the guys who think that if you're not dropping a grand on a gun that it's just not going to perform. There are a LOT of people out there who are doing good to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table. They can't afford to drop a grand on a gun. Keep these video's coming, I share them in my MEWE group, Concealed Carry Issues. MEWE is like Facebook for people who like and support the First Amendment.
Like these budget videos. Let's face it, how many times have we all been in a shop and eyeballed a used piece but maybe didn't know anything about it. That's why I'm grateful he's given us the run down on so many options.
I have, with knowledge, known that the Smith & Wesson Model 36 Special (AKA: "Chief's Special") is an excellent Pocket Revolver, excellent backup revolver (better than an auto pocket, in my opion), excellent carry gun. Some times, most times, the old ways are best.
I recently just upgraded to the IWI Masada as my everyday carry from the Taurus G2C. THE MASADA IS FABULOUS! I agree with everything, though my one dislike is the trigger reset is pretty long. Overall it shoots great and I got mine very lightly used in CO for $480!
Personally, I really like my Taurus G3C. It's easily concealable, and it has a pic rail so that it can flex into home defense as well. When I bought mine, about 3yrs ago, it was sub $400.
Good used pistols I've seen around the 400-500 buck class are police glocks or beretta 92 trade ins, ruger p89's, them Israeli 941 jericho's, maybe the smith wesson series 59's, 910's, 915's 6903's etc.
Hey Chris, I like this series of budget friendly guns. One thing I did this past year was to repurpose my backup AR lower into a 9mm PCC. I bought a PSA upper which was reasonably priced, but there are other similar options on the market. I included a Colt mag well adapter, but there are also Glock adapters and AR magazine inserts (EndoMag) that require no mag well adapter at all. A budget way to get into the PCC world, and keep the AR ergonomics we all know and love.
We are lucky to live in a time where there are tons of affordable, reliable, durable guns. I love my old work of art stuff, but on basic function and Fun, we live in a golden age.
I love these kind of videos. Don't get me wrong, I understand "you get what you pay for". But I like knowing there's solid workhorse for almost every situation out there for your average Joe that doesn't break the bank. Thank you, honest outlaw
Love my 10/22, but can't use red dots. Need a good recommendation on super-cheap prism sight. How about a video on guns for the elderly, 20 ga semi-autos or pistol caliber carbines? Maybe a video on appleseed with a 10/22? Take care :).
Taurus G3, G3C TX22 all great accurate pistols under 400.00. Great reviews, have also been looking at the Remington 870 since my 500 Mossberg continues to have that infamous racking problem after multiple fixes.
I would recommend a PSA Dagger, a Maverick 88, a Savage 64, a PSA AR-15, and a Taurus 605. Semi-auto pistol, shotgun, .22 rifle, AR, and revolver. All decently priced and quality enough to get the job done while you save up for something better.
I got an old Remington 870 Wingmaster that dates to 1964. 2 years older than I am and it’s in better shape! 😂 Bought it off my neighbor for $250!! He’s an elderly gentleman and he said he knew he could get more for it, but he wanted me to have it since I love guns so much and take care of them. It’s a great old shotgun!
Agree on the 870. I have 2.....first was purchased in 1987.....combo with slug barrel. Second one was Supermag.....shoots 3 and a half inch shells....it was purchased in 2005. Both have been completely reliable. Money well spent 👍
Love that your Reppin the Masada!! Such an under rated gun. The fact that they give you optic plates and back straps at under 500.00, it's hard to beat. Granted still too new to get a good selection of holsters and accessories. But nice the give you 2 17 round magazines. Also a plus for some, it's FULLY Ambidextrous outta the box. Don't have to swap out any parts. Keep up the videos, We are addicted
My 1973 vintage Ruger Single Six is the most iconic, versital, reliable, fun handgun I have ever owned and it functions better today than it did the day I took it out of the box.
Look into PSA's 9mm Glock19 (gen3) clone "Dagger" and their AR combo, the two to them combined are $200 off ($800 ttl). Solid and reliable but not what one would call "Gucci". I keep the Dagger stock, train with it regularly so I'm always familiar with both my G19 (which I've modded to hell and back) and a standard, unmodified Glock.

It's a damn shame what they did to that company... Great video as always keepem coming brother!!!
can't believe the maverick 88 got snubbed cheaper and more reliable
I had a tac 14 that was ok 👍 haven't had any others tho. Tons off mossbergs only sent one back for repair.
@@Rio..o7.. not smooth and lots o' plastic innards.
Mossberg MC2C my EDC! Absolutely love it!
It’s sure worth mentioning to the newer/younger viewers about stand-out classics like the 870 and the 10/22 that we take for granted. Good reviews.
Part 3? Bring it!!
The trigger on my lcrx 9mm is surprisingly smooth in double action. Sights are nice as well. Good gun over all
Making a donation right now since I love your content. I just found your channel recently, but ima new subscriber now.
Check out the BRG 9 Elite,,great gun and budget priced! ua-cam.com/users/shorts6-wcoGFEU3Q
YES, definitely more videos like these! As far as the IWI, I do really very much like the Masada. I would definitely buy a compact size version. The new slim is nice if it was 4 inch barrel in compact size.
Yes! A Threepeat would be awesome!!!
Awesome video. Loving this budget series. Keep up the good work.
Have had both Mossberg and Remington 870 both worked flawlessly.
IWI Masada 9S is also a great gun. When I first look at the Masada 9S it looked like a toy, but when I got the Masada into my hands it was no joke, I mean the slide is heavier than the frame but when I add the mag in; the weight is balanced.
As far as polymer 9 mm handguns, the Masada is one of my favorites. Thank you very much for the video.
I love this budget threequel or treequel you’re doing! Thanks for all you do!
I have owned 870s for over. I have used them for trap skeet hunting large game. 45 yearsI use d it cor self defdend lzo.
Like these budget videos. Let's face it, how many times have we all been in a shop and eyeballed a used piece but maybe didn't know anything about it. That's why I'm grateful he's given us the run down on so many options.
Cool The Remington 870 topped your list. It's my favorite 12 gauge shotgun. I have 3 of them.
Also have a 1970s 22 ga. 870 that still serves me well in every area of shotgunning. Another great Top 5. Thanks.
I love learning about budget guns. I just hope I can save enough money to get one of them soon.
Same bro same 😆

I have, with knowledge, known that the Smith & Wesson Model 36 Special (AKA: "Chief's Special") is an excellent Pocket Revolver, excellent backup revolver (better than an auto pocket, in my opion), excellent carry gun. Some times, most times, the old ways are best.
I'm 54 and feel like rejecting EVERYTHING new. 🤔
I'll keep my LED flashlights. I am looking for a 90s GMC or Chevy Truck.
New stuff just falls apart.
The IWI masada which I have is awesome for well under $500
I recently just upgraded to the IWI Masada as my everyday carry from the Taurus G2C. THE MASADA IS FABULOUS! I agree with everything, though my one dislike is the trigger reset is pretty long. Overall it shoots great and I got mine very lightly used in CO for $480!
Love my Masada, highly recommend.
Ambidextrous controls and co witnesses with RMSc plate and stock sights.
I have a 1976 bicentennial edition Ruger 10-22 that belonged to my dad. It still shoots like a new one even after many thousands of rounds.
Dont tell anyone that APX A0 , first gen is ugly but one of the best guns I own , will buy all I can used, similar to PX4 storm , great pistols!!!
Please more videos like this! Thanks Chris!
The APX A1 is hot! Underrated.
I like what you're doing with this series. Good call on used Remington 870s. The older ones are rock solid. Keep up the good work!
Personally, I really like my Taurus G3C. It's easily concealable, and it has a pic rail so that it can flex into home defense as well. When I bought mine, about 3yrs ago, it was sub $400.
Great gun
Thanks for including the IWI Masada it’s a fantastic firearm.
Good used pistols I've seen around the 400-500 buck class are police glocks or beretta 92 trade ins, ruger p89's, them Israeli 941 jericho's, maybe the smith wesson series 59's, 910's, 915's 6903's etc.
Hell yeah keep it coming my friend...my collection needs friends
One of the hand guns I like and carry everyday is the Ruger security 9 I paid under $300, 15 rounds and nice accessories for it as well
Hey Chris, I like this series of budget friendly guns.
Great videos! It brings a smile to my face when I see a notification for your videos!
"top 900 budget guns"
We are lucky to live in a time where there are tons of affordable, reliable, durable guns. I love my old work of art stuff, but on basic function and
Fun, we live in a golden age.
2023 budget guns for the year 2023.
You say that like it's a bad thing lol
Way to be supportive of those who are new to guns but can't afford something overly expensive there guy.
@@ethanlittlejohn3811 what is a joke?
I had a chance to shoot a Masada this week. Very solid gun, the recoil impulse was also very smooth. I liked it a lot.
I say have a look at the Ruger security 9. I have owned 2 of them, they both worked fantastic for me and under the price of 400.
I love these kind of videos. Don't get me wrong, I understand "you get what you pay for". But I like knowing there's solid workhorse for almost every situation out there for your average Joe that doesn't break the bank.
Thank you, honest outlaw
Beretta APX would be my top choice out of these top 5
Thank you so much Chris for the video.
Love my 10/22, but can't use red dots. Need a good recommendation on super-cheap prism sight. How about a video on guns for the elderly, 20 ga semi-autos or pistol caliber carbines? Maybe a video on appleseed with a 10/22? Take care :).
The IWI makes me think you should do a "Most under rated conceal carry or home defense handguns video"
I'm glad to see my personal favorite manufacturer on your list (Beretta) I love the APX A1, I wish I had one myself
Bass pro has one for $399 and Beretta is having a $50 rebate making it $349. Just a FYI
Taurus G3, G3C TX22 all great accurate pistols under 400.00. Great reviews, have also been looking at the Remington 870 since my 500 Mossberg continues to have that infamous racking problem after multiple fixes.
I bought a CZ Scorpion Evo S1 today. God bless America
Sir, more please…. Always enjoy the videos!!
Another video? Yessir. Even an Australian like me can find these videos interesting and informative.
The masada was my first pistol! Has always worked great, and the optics plates make it great to try out new red dots. Great video as always!
I bullpuped my 10/22, it shoot great, carries great in the woods, and looks like something out of starship troopers.
Good video, thanks. Budget guns needed by lots of folks these days. 2nd A 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👍
Nice list Chris. Yes sir. 870. 😎🤘. I still have mine that I bought in 2002. Still going strong
Surprised that I still haven't seen the BRG9 gen1 on here yet, they're goin for 189$ right now and are definitely in the 400-600$ range of quality
With summer starting to get closer I would love to see a top 5 pocket pistol video.
Absolutely love the Masada... It's my current home defense
Thanks man! Love these lists
Agree on the 870. I have 2.....first was purchased in 1987.....combo with slug barrel. Second one was Supermag.....shoots 3 and a half inch shells....it was purchased in 2005. Both have been completely reliable. Money well spent 👍
I have the supermag also for the $300 i paid its been flawless (2006)
Love that your Reppin the Masada!! Such an under rated gun. The fact that they give you optic plates and back straps at under 500.00, it's hard to beat. Granted still too new to get a good selection of holsters and accessories. But nice the give you 2 17 round magazines. Also a plus for some, it's FULLY Ambidextrous outta the box. Don't have to swap out any parts. Keep up the videos, We are addicted
Definitely Canik. They really have came a long way.
My 1973 vintage Ruger Single Six is the most iconic, versital, reliable, fun handgun I have ever owned and it functions better today than it did the day I took it out of the box.
Check out the Mossberg MC2SC. It’s a really good subcompact 9mm. I’d definitely call it a budget gun, but you get A LOT for the price.
I really appreciate your honest opinions, and good taste! I always look for your reviews before I purchase a new gun.
And I believe it’s treequiligy
Yeah, keep them coming! I’m perpetually on a budget.
