the mechanical speed controller was terrible.. mine set itself on fire it cracked the ceramic resistor... bought an electronic speed controller from Futaba never had problems..1986 was a great year.. thanks for the video.. good memories of being 14 yrs old
Passt mal wieder alles :-) ! Und geschont hast Du dieses kleine "Monster" nicht gerade...super Action, genüsslich fürs Auge & den Spirit ! Ein weiteres Kompliment & Danke für dieses Werk! Beste Grüsse, Daniel
Another success! This time, it is my daughter who is fan of this car. She makes you say that this film is great. I must confess that I too look forward to seeing. Thank you
What lovely memories your video reawakened! In the late 1980s I had a friend with a Monster Beetle, a friend with a Subaru Brat and I had a Midnight Pumpkin. Now my friend´s old Brat body lives on my TL-01 and the Pumpkin´s doing good work on my Wheely King. I wish I still had the Monster Beetle as well. This video brought back to me the way these Tamiyas used to bounce on their friction-damped suspension - I love the jump towards the camera @ 4:01!
I´ve sent the link for your excellent video to the lady who had the Monster Beetle back in the late 1980s. I hope it brings her as much pleasure as it did to me.
Another great film. The monster beetle was my first assembly kit I have a 2015 on order. You tips and techniques have been a great help and your films a great inspiration for my hobby. Keep up the good work.
+Matteo's RC Movies thanks for taking the time respond to my comment, I've since built my beetle with 15turn 550 motor and had the diff pop problem I've shimmed it 0.9mm on the left of the diff it seems to have fix the issue just thought I'd put this up as I think a lot of people will have this problem. Thanks again for the videos
I've watched this video countless times now, and each time I enjoy it as much as the last. I love largescale RC but the Tamiya Monster Beetle is my all time favourite RC of the bunch. Ace video Matteo!
Yes I watched your 30yr video, interesting stuff! I still have my original 1986 MB, aswell as the new 2015 re-re, I'd never sell them. I've got a MiP ball diff to go in the new MB as that's brushless, so I've saved your MB MiP ball diff video for future reference, thanks again!
Thank you for sharing another masterpiece with us! This rc car get you into a good mood, happy, merry and playful as this car is, as Master Matteo captivate so brilliantly with his keen eye for shooting and angles and suitable music. This car bring back good memories for those who had this car in their childhod, thanks to Tamiyas re-release, can they now have this car again. Cheers.

+Matteo's RC Movies Merci dir für die Tipps und den Link. Super, danke. Werde ich mit Sicherheit bei Gelegenheit mit einem von meinen Modellen nachvollziehen.
Cool video! I still have my Tamiya Monster Beetle from the mid 80s & still goes well all iv done is fixed up the diff & installed a cooling fan & replaced the old stock motor with another new stock, Still get plenty of fun with this buggie!
yes..Yes...YES!!!! The Monster Beetle finally got the Matteo treatment! Beautifully filmed and edited video. Awesome setting for running that truck. I still have my original and run it...no shelf queen, just dirt and track runner. Monster Beetle was slightly quirky to drive but was a well balanced jumper. Most fun vehicle IMO. Jumps at 0:21, 0:32, & 0:34 are classic Beetle form. Love the wheel stand action at 4:59. Thank you Matteo!...Best Beetle video on the net!
+garbageproductions1 Thanks a lot for your awesome comment! Nice, you have still the original one from back then! Missed mine over the years, but really happy now for the re-release!
Nice!!! I also have this one...was my first Tamiya RC....never stoped from that day... About 6 months ago I change most of the transmision parts (put the dogbone trans of the hopper). It runs quite well for the age it has...the problem...I need a new body and new body glass...
Looking great at 1080p & 50fps, lovely to see those CVA dampers working and even the colours of the opening text match the colour scheme on the body! Another nostalgia inducing Matteo Masterpiece (tm) ;-)
Loved the video buddy. reminded me of the original tv ad back in the day. Awesome video matey. Look forward to your videos so its always a pleasure when one pops up in the feed.
When I was a kid, I drilled out the holes on the control arms so they were the same length on each side (one side just stuck out a few more mm). This resulted in huge negative camber and it could take corners far, FAR faster without flipping. How's the new one compared to the old one? Just modern speed controllers and batteries?
hey,i have the 1980's monster beetle in yellow.i changed the manual speed controler for an esc,pug a spare gold wheel & tyre in the roof & a whip antenna each side @ the back apart from that its all stock.andy timson from england
@@Matteomeier I am. Got my MB at long last . Remember wishing it would turn up as a Christmas present but it was to expensive for my folks in the 80’s 👍😊
+shenlonco Thanks! I know the problems from the original one in the 80es. But they changed a bit the design of the gear case and use now universal shaft dog bones, its much better now!
+Matteo's RC Movies Hi The problem is in the re release guy's are blowing the rear diffs , they are shimming the diffs and putting braces on the gearbox because it flexes and the diff spreads and strips... I suggested this to a few others get 2 new aluminum side plates and cut the sections off that go around the diff area with the three mounting screw holes and put a extra section on each side to make it stronger so it can't bulge and spread open and make the diff blow out.
Hey mate. Just ordered Monster Beetle and Blackfoot re-releases, and bought a new Gopro. Hopefully now I can get some good quality shots like you do. Love your videos, they are my "go to" when I'm feeling down. Thank you
just wondering if you had any issues with diff before you installed the mip diff in the later video. i would like to build it and keep it very stock except for bearings and torque tuned motor.
my original tamiya blackfoot came with hex shafts in the rear. they went out in 15 minutes. Does the new models come with dogbones? Or universal shafts in the rear diff?
+John Thomas Are you referring to this re-release stripping and popping? If so no, my re-release is not stripping and the gear box is not popping open. I have an hour run time on it and all is perfect! I should mention that i have also been jumping it similarly to this video and no issues.
Just wondering if you have painted the body or just applied the decals. i would like to run mine offroad and wouldn't want to scratch up the painted hardbody
Matteo another fantastic video and the legendary monster beetle... Keep up the good work mate & i always look forward to your videos. Greetings from Australia ;)
Thanks Del! Glad you like it! It's not a big secret, a GoPro Hero4 and a Sony Handycam. I use the GoPro on a stick, hold it down and run beside the car while filming.
awesome video matteo, great production values, absolutely perfect terrain for the monster beetle which preformed admirably. I have to say i really enjoyed it. thumbs up. :)
I kinda want one of these again! I had one back in the 90's. My cousin gave it to me, it worked great until I put a Trinity Monster Horsepower motor in it and stripped out the drive shafts. That was the end of that truck since nobody at the time could get parts for it.
