Yeah, we had fun, although it got stuck in deep sand quite a lot off camera. 2WD and differential. But when not in deep sand it really is a lot of fun 😀
Nordic RC Visions Because of you, maybe I'll buy one when I will finish my Bigwig. 😌 In my opinion the Monster Beetle is the most iconic Tamiya Buggy or 80’s Buggy. Sorry for my bad english.
Just get a MB to Christmas from my girlfriend.. it is weak, noisy and absolutely fun to drive 😌 .. Lovely video, fantastic mix of forest, sea, sand and cloudy blue sky 👍🏻
Nice, lolipop! "weak, noisy and fun" would be a perfect description, he he. Hope you're gonna have a lot of fun with yours. I absolutely love running mine. Definitely not one of my best runner,s performance wise but one of the coolest and funniest :-) Thank you very much for sharing and thank you very much for the fantastic feedback. Yeah, it was a lovely day in the summer.
@@NordicRC he he, well this is a challenge for us too to make it no more weak :) .. I have installed a smooth brushless/ lipo system, but the typical "knock knock" problem started right now (sounds painfully)
Not sure what that is, but the stock gears are definitely what to be labeled as weak. I installed the MIP ball differential in mine, and it holds up splendid.
@@NordicRC the noise comes from the gear box joint teeth :) .. I ordered a couple days ago the MIP superball diff too, can't wait to install and drive.
Yeah, such a good time. I miss the summer. If I should do the same today, it would involve rain, grey weather and 3-4 hours of cleaning the MB afterwards 😀 Thanks a lot for watching, Mal.
Happy new year, Jesper! Yes O agree very much! Too bad we have so little of the blue background nowadays in our country 😉 but at least I had some footage from the great summer. That red bug is meant to be run in the shining sun 😀
Thanks, Omar! He, yeah, I remember we talked about it. I still haven’t got to order some new ones, but when I do I will definitely not be either putting the MB in a bag neither run it with those. They break so easily. But they look good when intact and attached on the shelf 😀
you can see his relief when he reaches the sand ........ yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa !! ( Where is your beach please , it looks gorgeous !)
Hi James. No, they switched to the universal axles. They hold up great, but they bind with full suspension travel. I tried the Frog dogbones in another video. They bind less. But both the dogbones and uni-axles are definitely better than the old one.
Nice! Uhh yeah, be careful. Old plastic is very brittle, so it’s definitely more fragile than the release edition in this video. But hope you will have a good run!
Nice video! I just want to let you know this is my favorite rc Channel ever! I just bought my first Tamiya (mynouth dream come True) and it's..the Monster Beetle! 😘😘😘
Hi Eros! Thank you so much! Wow, really great feedback. I’m honered. So cool you got the MB! Hope you will have as much fun with it as I have with mine ☺️ Again, thanks!
Ahh - lovely reminder of how my first Tamiya used to look all those years ago! Fantastic footage, slowmo and editing my friend - a pure pleasure to watch! :-)
He, yeah, this 2015 is still in pretty good condition, apart from the usual roof rash and broken side mirrors. Yours look amazing with all the hop ups, Mr. Frankenstein, and what a story it could tell 😀 Think I’ll soon put a wibbly wobbly on this one. Miss it. Though I’ll chose one shorter than 2 meters. Thanks a lot for watching, my good friend.
Hi James. Yeah, when I can I usually always use the rubber sealed ball bearings for the wheel axles etc. For the gear boxes I usually use the cheaper metal sealed although sometimes sand even find the way to the gears. But I often lubricate the “assembly cracks” of the gear box so it creates a kind of seal. For the wheel axles I often use the cheaper generic rubber sealed 1150 from eBay and the likes (sold in packs of 50-100). It keeps the individual bearing price down and I am able to just replace them if salty sand gets in.
Thanks, Rob! Yeah, miss it too. Especially this summer. This summer 2018 was one of the sunniest in years, last year, 2017 was one of the wettest. Summer up here where we live aren’t always sunny 😀
Awesome too! Congrats with your new bug! Thanks a lot. Yeah, I kinda like this trip to the beach. It’s fun for both running and filming. The other years I did the same with the CC-01 Landfreeder.
This has become one of my favourite videos of yours Mikael. I missed it because I was in hospital. But I am very happy that I have just found it my friend. I love it, and I love your wife for letting you use her Samsung ! MASSIVE THUMBS UP : ))

What a grand old girl! It's good to go back to your roots every so often. You've inspired me to dig my Clod out again, I'd have to stay somewhere in Scandinavia though, concrete tower blocks don't really have the same effect. Great filming and editing as usual. 👌😁
Thanks a lot for watching, my good friend. Ahh, yeah, you got a beauty of a classic too there. Love running these old classic Tamiya Monster Trucks and would love a Clod some day too. The price of it has held me back so far though 🙂 Yeah, the countryside is nice sometimes, although mostly I do my running and videos in the City where I live.
Oh yeah love it Mikael! Good to see the Monster Beetle having a lovely day out on the beach. Looks great. Very nice video. I reckon that those tyres look very good in the sand. The Lunchbox tyres work pretty well at the beach but I think that the little spikes on the MB tyres give it a little more grip on the firm sand. Anyway, happy new year mate and here's to much more RC related fun in 2019 :-)
Thanks, Pete! Yeah, the 2WD and the differential doesn't do much good in the deep loose sand (the MB mostly gets stuck there very quickly) but on the more firmer sand, it really runs great with the spiked tires biting in. Mostly those spikes doesn't do any good (like on hard packed dirt) but when they are able to dig in, like in the sand or gravel etc, they really give a lot of grip and push. A very happy new year to you too, my friend! 2019 gonna be a good RC year :-) Hope you got your new hobby room ready to go for the new year.

Great video! Love the Monster Beetle. What are the differences between this and the newer Blackfoot? Are they the same underneath? Anyways, great filming as always!
Thanks a lot, Daryl! Yeah, love it too. The newer Blackfoot? The re-release? Both the original and re-release Monster Beetle and Blackfoot are based on the same ORV chassis. Basically the difference (other than color differences and body) is oil filled shocks (MB) vs friction shocks/springs (BF) and different tires.
Thanks, bro! Yeah the super slow motion was shot with the Galaxy S9, in 960 fps. Got other videos in my channel explaining how it works. The ‘normal’ slo mo was shot with just an old iPhone, in 120fps.
