Thanks Tim Tebow, informative video. seriously though, thanks for sharing. I watched the whole video, found it useful Wishing u the best on the issues you mentioned.
I thought about doing that to my Kodiak,c4500 lly Have Kelderman air on the front link air on the back So my question is, did you double up on the shocks?
How does welding on the frame messes up the electrical because I've welded on my frame many of times with no issues maybe because i had the ground clamp close to what i was welding on i don't know...
Bilstein Shocks. Would Make a World of Difference best couple hundred you could spend and also take 10 psi out of your tires you will get a little more absorption those tires are like rocks.
I was debating between this truck and f550, there was one like this but single cab/ cab chassis for $46k otd, but I need 5500 so I didn’t get it and got the f550. Wish I could of gotten both. Currently it’s at the shop getting a custom box built, now I’m scared for all the electrical!
@@AlexMartinez-sq7jf no it’s retail pricing. The 46k was regular cab and chassis only. So you would have to get some one to install the contractor bed or whatever box you wanted on there. It was also a clearance item at the time. I ended up getting a f550 2020 for 60k otd. Cost about 13k to get a chipper box on there from an outside guy so total spent was about 73k. Saved about 10-12k vs buying at dealer for $82k plus taxes and fees
The upfitters made a rookie mistake welding high voltage on your truck then trying to weasel away out of responsibility... If that was my truck I would accept nothing less than an entirely new truck and be using a new upfitter for the utility bed... That voltage introduced on the system already damaged some serious electronic components on that truck and God forbid you have any future problems with that truck because it's literally going to be chasing ghosts and I would never have peace of mind thinking any problem ever would be originated to or exacerbated by literally surging the entire electronics system on that truck. Godspeed
i just bought a 2023 C4500 crew cab 4x4 84CA with a monroe ProTow skirted flatbed... it rides WAY better than the 2016 Denali HD that I traded in... might be the monroe air ride cab mounts. the interior is identical to my old denali minus the leather, cooled seats, sunroof, nav and dual zone ac, and power rear window slider. prolly do a Katskins leather interior and 245 rubber...
My 2016 Chevy 3500 exhaust break works great. It’ll send my rpms to 3500 and keep me under 70 on hilly terrain. I find it works best when you have tow/haul, exhaust break and cruise on at the same time. Works less with no cruise. Even more so with no tow/haul.
What’s everyone’s opinion on one of these trucks vs a 2500? From what I’ve been specing a 4500 is most bang for your buck?? For mid 60 I’d rather get the towing ability of a 4500 vs a 2500. A 4500 would not be my daily driver. It would be for a bigger tractor I’m planing on getting and maybe a tiny home. Don’t want to ever not have enough truck to tow any future toy. I know Ford and Dodge have a higher towing capacity but they are up their in price. Chevy 4500 seems to be a good compromise?
Bilstein make such a dramatic difference people just don’t get it until they crack there head on the roof lol but honestly massive improvement over stocks
Highly doubt it! Dealer rep said they have been seeing tons of trucks coming in with the same issues from body manufacturers- seems like they have idiots working for them
Every one of these that I have looked at has a sticker inside the rear of the frame expressing NOT to weld... of coarse, a good shop should know what they are doing.
If they fried the pcm and several other electrical components they definitely did not disconnect the batteries! They were also grounding near the chasis grounds as well!! I know because I’ve welded on alot of concrete trucks and with light welding on the mixer body I’ve been able to do it without disconnecting the battery . That said if you weld on the frame without disconnecting the battery, you will fry the electronics!!
Question for you; would 3 adult men fit in the front seats? I'm looking at getting one but not sure if I should get a crew cab with the added length. My f550 is real tight with 3 of us in the front.
The problem that you are having on start up when you shift into gear can be solved with tuning. Take your truck to a good tuner. They will get it together.
I work for an industrial battery company and our main rig is a f750 but the other techs have 550s and unless we load it up with at least a 3000lbs battery that truck rides like shit lol
I can assure you an f550 rides like shit. Whether empty, loaded flatbed, or hauling a case 580. Manufacturer does not determine ride comfort on these class trucks, there is none.
@@gman69455 uh, no. I drove super duty F550’s for over 10 years. I just got a new Chevy 5500, it rides so rough I have to drive way slower on job sites, to the point of ridiculousness. Luckily my Chevy went down so I’m back in a spare F550. And I’m a Chevy guy, not a Ford guy in general, so don’t even go down that road.
If anyone expects a real medium duty truck to ride like a caddy, you missing it. This truck is not a Kodiak. Ford uses HD duty brakes and coils. Not leaf springs. Ford is a squatter because of it.
I run an 18,000 service truck for work. Just got a new Chevy 5500, we had to add a leaf to it the same as our Ford F550’s. And the Chevy ride is so bad I can’t go over a creep on job sites, no problems with the F550’s
Dope rig man it’s definitely a big boy truck, but 16k lbs for 3k lbs of tools damn that’s a lot of truck for the amount of tools actually in it! a little bit over kill imo but to each his own! Could have done the same thing with a a 2500 Silverado. Unless it’s a dump truck, moving truck, or tow truck, or MAYBE your doing fiber optics or pipe laying and need to tow a big big trailer along with all your payload, I don’t see why you would want this. especially with how tall the box is. unless your the millionaire plumber who wants to flex on all the drain cleaners 🤣 what if your in the city and parking is hard to get, and the spaces are cramped? what’s gonna happen if there’s semi-low a tree branch or you need to get in a parking garage, are you gonna park hella far and carry your tools? After the 20th time it would get annoying I would just carry a tree pruner since I have the room for it lmao
What most people forget is how good a value proposition these trucks are when compared to a 2500/3500 (especially now that trucks are in low supply everywhere). They’re easier to work on (you can actually walk into the engine bay) and they hold more residual value over a longer period of time. Fun fact: this truck was bought with GM points (hard to pass up a free truck!)
@@TruckCentral I just typed a lot of shit and tried to edit it yet deleted it lmao. It’s a awesome truck I’d love one for myself personally especially for the ease of maintenance , but I’d definitely have a Chevy express to alternate between the 2. Tbh I loved the 8ft body on my personal truck, but for our drain cleaners and regular plumbers they got the 10ft body 3500s and the dually 4500 vans so they could be as efficient as possible. Now I’d definitely take the 5500 hd with the 10ft box since it can still tow a mini excavator or skidsteer with all my tools in the truck, but as my only truck I feel like it would be overkill since I do remodels in the city where streets are cramped and traffic sucks.
@@TruckCentralI'm in the same situation. For my business (lawn care, fertilization, fall cleanups) a 1500 or 2500 makes a lot of sense until you see how expensive they are and the increased operating costs when towing 3000-5000lbs everyday. Just due to how daily towing wears the tires and suspension prematurely on lighter duty trucks.

The bounce you evidently dislike is due to the air springs. They give a softer ride ,but add bounce.
