- Jessica is a 3D Character Artist for the In-Game Cinematics team at Blizzard Entertainment. She combines her specialties in 3dsMax, Maya, Zbrush, Photoshop, Marvelous Designer, 3D Coat, and exceptional Fine Art skills (figure drawing, sculpting, painting) to bring characters and environments to life in some of the most successful computer games of our times. Her work has contributed to Blizzard titles such as Starcraft 2, World of Warcraft, Diablo 3, and Overwatch.

JESSICA DRU JOHNSON
3D CHARACTER ARTIST
Jessica completed her digital art training at Gnomon in LA after attending university for chemistry and informatics. She is also a skilled costume designer and combines her love of costume and character design in the creation of exquisitely art directed photo shoots of mythical forest creatures and mermaids in amazing underwater shoots in which she can be found. Really interesting talk. But the slides should really be shown when she's talking about knee, elbow and hand topology.

@@jessicah3065 To be fair, the camera guy was the only one that was supposed to focus on her all the time. It's the control booth that were either infatuated or so uninterested that they just left the settings and took a break.

mm i hate the fact that the audio isnt cared for and only comes out the left ear, an easy thing to fix, but you didn't bother
you coulda just set the audio track to mono, but ok
Thanks. I only use the left earphone when I am with people during the day. I thought my earphone was damage. I checked it by playing music and it was ok.
Awesome talk! This was really informative and I love Jessica's energy. But yes, I wish there was a version out that also swapped to show the topology of the hands, elbows and knees. Facial topology was nice though. I've heard mixed stuff about those areas but never from a Blizzard artist perspective. But thank you so much Jessica, CG Futures and Blizzard for sharing your time.

Really valuable info here. always useful to get these tid bits from industry professionals. The video switching when she gets to the topology parts is really annoying tho. sigh.
Listening to Jessica talk I cant help but to think about the gap when I didnt own a computer for oh i dont know like, 20 years and everything I missed out on. Let that be a lesson folks.....If theres something you are into, learn everything about it because it might lead you into a career you love.

One of the things that always bugs me about these shows like this is they always assume that only younger people want to get into this. That and the fact that they are generally hosted in areas where people tend to live near big universities that offer these subjects.
