@@ethansmith8463yeah it used to be. She posted this video in 2022 and they changed the length of church in 2019. So she’s either unaware of the changes or purposely lying for clicks. I am an ex member and no longer religious but I also don’t like lies being told to people as truths. If someone watched this video and didn’t know much about this church they would’ve heard half of the video as true things and believed the other half yet it’s be lies or misleading. There are plenty of truths in this clip that are damning to this church she should’ve left out those parts that aren’t true.

      Factual Errors:
“The Book of Mormon states God curses people of color.”
No. There are “people of color” (all people have a melanin count somewhere on a spectrum) who God has not cursed, in the Book of Mormon.
If you hate the Book of Mormon it’s because you have decided in advance to hate it, or you’re projecting your bad experience with the church onto the book.
Some things (like “women are not allowed to wear pants to church”) are obvious exaggerations. What? A woman in pants will get kicked out of church? That’s just silly.
However, I don’t like defending the church since I consider it a corrupt business masquerading as a religion, duping a lot of people.

    • @ThomasFackrell

@@jeffs4483oh and the whole “Joseph Smith married 14 year olds” is highly contested. There’s a whole spectrum of belief ranging from “Joseph Smith was never a polygamist-he was framed by Brigham Young” to “Joseph Smith was a pedophile” and it’s a CHOICE which evidence you will investigate and which conclusion you will come to. I highly doubt this girl has spent more than an hour considering an alternative to the historical narrative of Joseph Smith’s actions peddled by both the Brighamites and the exmormons.
I get it-many of us got burned by the church and now we’re angry. We should take some time to heal, but not propagate a false narrative to justify more anger. It sucks to be in Utah around people who think we’re crazy for leaving their “holy cult”, but we’re not crazy. We’ve just been wounded by lies. It’s time to heal.

Not all LDS churches are like this. I’m bisexual, have an active sex life, wear pants, and am a Nondenominational Christian. Where I attend other women have worn pants no problem. Members and missionaries are all very amiable and church only lasts 2 hours unless you wanna stay for activities. I've been attending almost a year, they are always welcoming and don't care I’m not converting nor try to force it on me. We just happily co-mingle and get along. Some LDS churches may be like that but the one I've been at is very kind and nonjudgmental.

@DecemberSfy You're bisexual and have an active sex life. Well, that's not allowed in the Mormon Church. If they were to interview to determine whether or not you're worthy enough to be baptized, they would tell you that you're NOT worthy enough. You will have to be celibate or be in a heterosexual traditional marriage ONLY, if you are to be considered worthy enough to be a member of the Mormon Church. They'll excommunicate a member who's sexually active if they aren't heterosexual and married in a heterosexual marriage ONLY.
And of course they're welcoming to you right now. That's because you aren't a member of the Church yet. Things will change drastically once you're a member. As a member the male Bishop (notice only males are allowed to have authority in the Mormon Church -- women are not allowed in the priesthood) will consider it his right to discipline you.
ALL Mormon Churches are Dictated to by the HQ in Salt Lake City. You might be attending a ward where the Bishop is more Liberal (might). But once you're a member you'll have to obey the rules or be disciplined.
Have you listened to the channel "Mormon Stories"? Lots of Mormons tell of their experiences there. And then they usually get excommunicated for speaking about the abuse they've suffered.

@@Keaton42 I've been out of the church for years but you sound like someone I once knew. There was a family, they were Mormons and they would offer me to do things with them. Going to sleep over at their house, camping, playing games and toys, even babysit me with respect because most other people in different houses were mean. On the sleep over part they would always pray for me before eating dinner and when I'm about to sleep. When I had parties at church I was hanging out with them. My mom recently told me that when I was 5 years old those Mormons I'm happy with during the Christmas holidays told the fake Santa to go to my house and give me presents and I had a lot. I used to be really happy because they were so nice. But then one day when I was 9 they moved to another state and I felt so sad. Going to church didn't feel the same anymore. I was miserable that they were gone. I never forget those days I've had. About me leaving though I got in trouble for saying I'm going shopping after church. I don't want to say the rest because it got worse but yeah.

I’m not a Mormon but I have been going to a Mormon church for the past few weeks. Aside from everyone being incredibly nice, I’m a female who has worn pants each time. I’ve also seen other women there wearing pants. I heard about a member of the congregation coming out as gay in his testimony and no one seemed too upset about it. Also, I haven’t been asked for even a donation. I just feel like this her experience might not be the same for all the churches.
Edit: it’s been several months since I wrote this. I freely admit I was wrong. I appreciate people trying to post important warnings about the Mormon church. I do in fact believe it is a cult and thankfully I am no longer a part of it. After commenting, I did begin to notice that women at the church do not usually wear pants and I was definitely love bombed and manipulated from the start. Please be weary of the Mormon church. There is a lot more to it than meets the eye.

You don't need to give the church money to go to heaven. The only thing required is to be baptized and accept Jesus Christ. Oh, and you can get baptized after you die so you won't be locked up in hell for eternity because that would totally be unjust.
Also the money is used to build temples and to keep the place tidy. You're not forced to pay tithing, and you will not be kicked out if you don't pay it.

In the Book of Mormon it is true that God placed a curse on the decedents of Lamen and Lemuel, the Lamanites. That was not cursing the people. It is a nuance. The difference is, that the people as individuals were not cursed/condemns inherently. The curse was that their skin darkened, and in the book of Mormon that is explained to help the early Nephite setters in America to not be drawn away by the Lamanites. In the bible, God often talks about mandating his people not be lead away, marry, have intimate relations sort of deal with people who are not of his religion/faith. That is so that their decedents can more easily be raised in the faith. In most cases he didn't outright make his people isolationists, when that did occur it was for their safety. But we can see God having a more direct hand in helping his people refrain intimate relations to the people in the faith by darkening the Lamanite skins. We see many times in the Book of Mormon where the Nephites were the wicked people and the Lamanites were evil. Some times when they were both good, some times with they were both wicked. So, he didn't curse the people, he placed a curse over their people.
There was, unfortunately, practice against black people being able to hold callings or the priesthood for the first while in the church. Kind of like America in general. And black people being able to obtain the priesthood was behind the abolishment of Jim Crow laws by about a 14 years. Jim crow abolishment around 1964 and Black people being able to obtain the priesthood in 1978. So, perfect; no. But improving over time; yes. Just like in the bible. Early on there was animal sacrifice, other practices, we eventually get to the ten commandments. Eventually to Jesus Christ. And through prophets, there are more improvements. It's all about incrementing to become more like God.
I will iterate: I do not wholly excuse black people being excluded from obtaining the priesthood. That was wrong. You can understand that just because Jim Crow laws were abolished doesn't mean racism ended. Maybe it just took until the next generation to obtain the people more tolerant (like Moses/Joshua an the wall of Jericho(?), the older generation blasphemed and the newer generation became the ones able to progress God's people).
So, are non-white people cursed? No! Not as a rule. Are black people cursed? No. Were there black people in the early church? yes, but it took until 1978 until they could be ordained with the priesthood; it sucks it took that long. But, one of the articles of faith talks about obeying the laws of the land, and the church is still run by people; people who at the time had it ingrained in law and culture that blacks were to be discriminated against in some fashion or another. So, like America can still be a wonderful country even with Slavery and Jim Crow in it's history; America over came those and can be great; and the LDS church has overcome much of it's transgressions and is in a continual process of progression.

I don't know what happened, I had an initial reply, but it seems to have disappeared, so this is slightly out of order, but I will re-comprise part 1 here (sorry if you saw elsewhere):
I am a member of the LDS church. I do not begrudge you for you doing what you believe is reasonable. No hate, anger, etc. I do believe that this begets a response; continue to believe as you find reasonable. No hate or malice. I do invite you to consider what I say and the LDS church with an open heart. Again, continue to "you do you". Here's my thoughts.:
The LDS church is often called a cult. The Master classes has an article explaining what a cult is, and that an organization becomes a cult for following four principles. those principles are (quoting from the article):
"Authoritarian control: Cultism hinges on encouraging maximum dependency. People in the cult must feel incapable of living an individual life outside the norms of the group. These beliefs often go hand in hand with a worshipful attitude toward the group’s authoritarian leader.
Extremist beliefs: Cult members hold to very dogmatic and extreme beliefs. They also are unable to question these belief systems without fear of reprisal or punishment from the leader or other group members.
Isolation from society: As soon as new members join a cult, other adherents work hard to isolate them from family members and friends. This helps fulfill the mind control aspirations of the leader. It also creates a hive mind of sorts between the new person and the other members.
Veneration of a single individual: Charismatic leaders are often at the center of most cults. Consider the Manson family of the late 1960s. As their name suggests, they adopted the beliefs of their leader, Charles Manson, and fulfilled his requests. The same pattern repeats in almost all other cults, albeit to less violent ends in many cases."
Authoritarian control: AKA, dependency. There are multiple types of dependency. Let's cover those.
Spiritual dependency: Like any Christian church, there is a spiritual dependency. So, if this were a sign of being a cult, every Christian church would be a cult. there is a broad understanding that not every Christian church is a cult, so this cannot be a measure of a church being a cult. Also, the dependency is more on God through Jesus Christ. The church is the most complete way to become like them as they mandate. Also, the church has developed a lot of sources that make one less dependent on them. Such as the free availability on the book of Mormon, the Come Follow me series of self study books, and other publications. Now, they are still publications in the church, but they allow people to commit self-study of doctrine and come to their own realizations and conclusions. I have heard hundreds of people give talks and incite in church; and not once have I head a church leader stand up and be like "That's objectively wrong, this is the belief." So, that is a level of spiritual independence from the church. And, in as much as we are spiritually dependent, so are other churches.
Physical dependency: We all work to get paid to provide for ourselves. My dad pays for the house; not the church. The church has events where food and water and utilities are provided; but such things are not provided to an extent nearing the development of dependency. Debunked.
Intellectually: I go to a very not LDS run collage, when to public school (separation of Church and state), I watch a lot of informational content on UA-cam, use Boot.dev which I don't think is LDS run programing lessons, I use audible and have a few nonfiction books, the minority by far of which are by LDS sources.
Socially: Most of my time is spent around non-LDS people, such as at church. I know a lot of people who have mostly LDS friendships, that's not inherent. I don't think I've ever had a close LDS friend group. All my truly close friends were non-LDS. I live in Utah. So, no.
Financially: You later mention tithing. We give 10% of earnings to the church. Like I said in the physical section, we provide for ourselves. (there are times where the church helps, but those are exceptions and short term, my dad in like 30+ years of house payments got help for like 3 months. that is not financial dependency).
So, on all accounts, dependency is debunked.
Extremist beliefs: There's a saying like "A cultists don't usually know they are in a cult." So, I will recognize that you may take my opinion with a grain of salt. Still, I believe I reasonably consider our beliefs to not be extreme. The Catholics are sudo-canniblis for believing they eat/drink the literal body and blood of Christ consistently (that's not to knock Catholics. If you believe that, I think you can do so reasonably, I am using it as a point of comparison with no mal-intent). That seems at least as extreme as anything I know in the LDS church. Again, I'm within "the system" so you may reasonable think that I just don't see how I hold extreme beliefs. Still, there is a second part to this pillar. I am very capable of questioning my beliefs and systems of belief. I do not have fear of reprisal or punishment. Particularly on a "systematic" level; AKA, even if reprisal or punishment came, it would be more of a social awkwardness than an official action on the church's behalf. So, this pillar. Debatable debunked, but at least not proven.
Isolation: We have LDS.org which freely and openly shows just about all LDS church literature. We have the common saying "Be in the world but not off the world." We still hold regular jobs. We send out missionaries. We invite all to come unto Christ. You can come to our church meetings anytime (please remain respectful during attendance, thank you). Official you tube channels. Our General Conference held twice a year is freely accessed on LDS.org (including a backlog), and even on UA-cam, and great efforts are put in place to translate into numerous languages, including American sign language. So, no, we are not isolationists. Touchingly debunked.
Veneration of a single individual: We do not venerate the leader of the church. We appreciate his role and efforts in bringing about the revelations from God. But he is still a man. He serves in the first presidency and on the quorum of the twelve apostles, so in no place does he act as the sole leader of the church. Like Jesus Christ said in the pre-mortal life "All glory be given unto thee [God]." Like the point with the spiritual dependency. Any veneration we hold would be for God. Thus, if veneration for God is a basis for being a cult, then any Christian church is a cult. Since that is not the case. it is not a basis for the LDS church to be a cult. Thus, since we do not hold any veneration for a non-God entity, especially not a single individual, Veneration of a single individual is debunked.
Thus, at worst you can argue only one of the pillars is at all applicably to the LDS church. Since it takes all, or to be lenient at least 3/4, the LDS church given the worst possible perspective is only 1/4, it is far from being arguable that the LDS church is a cult (I also find that the most reasonable view would be that, even if the church has extreme beliefs, that the openness to question them still debunks that pillar, that the most reasonable view is 0/4).

Something is seriously censoring part of my post. I'm trying to explain what the pillars are that set an institution apart as a cult, but I have written and posted that twice in this comment chain, and it has been removed each time. I guess I will make a video response and hope that doesn't get censored the same way. No anger or malice to anyone about this, but I think I shouldn't be censored for trying to provide a calm and reasoned argument for my position: The LDS church is not a cult. According to knowing what the Master Classes and actual doctrine of the church. again, I'll try to get to a video response on my channel regarding that stuff (still in works, but I think I finally found the name I want for it).

Church is 3 hrs long, and you're not allowed to do anything else on sundays:
      1) You may freely and without social or church action consequence not attend church on any given sunday. I have had a few long strings of not going for no particular reason, and I am in no way penalized by my peers for it. I have taken mobile games, writing for books and stuff, drawing and other activities into church. And I play video games, watch tv and other things on sunday. So, she is presenting it as an absolut authoritarian situation. It is not.
One of God's commandments is to keep the sabbath day holy. So, if that is a detriment to the LDS church, it is the same for every other Christian Church.
However, if you are to attend church, it would be optimal to have a focus on church. If you go to a movie, and listen to music and do sodoku the entire time, you don't get a lot out of the movie. So, you can do other things at church, but that doesn't fulfill your purpose in being at church.
The same goes for Sunday as a whole. It is a day to relax and re-fortify in faith. It is a day to be kept reverent. That will not be best accomplished by watching Deadpool on repeat the entire day. Instead, the purpose of Sunday, in a Christian context, is best accomplished via prayer, scripture study, wholesome family time, and other reverent means.
So, 1) not unique to the LDS church. 2) The LDS church is not authoritarian and you can "you do you," but 3) the LDS church invites you to attentively attend church and keep the sabbath holy because those are the best ways to accomplish their purpose.

Caffeine: there is the word of wisdom that prohibits it. Yeah, it's always been strange that sodas are precluded. There's a lot of articles or studies arguing that coffee is healthy. That hasn't been something I have had time to study. from my experience, I function better not reliant on caffeine (MNT Dew). So, I have accepted the Word of wisdom and don't drink
This is a personal thing. But I have two markers, two tests for is something is immoral. One of which is that if something reduces agency (is an addition//overly reliant on something)) then it is immoral (in the beginning, God gave mankind three great gifts: Life, agency, and a way through repentance to return to God. That's not explicit doctrine, not something I was taught, more of just a hypothesis, an observation I have (to call them great gifts, it is provable that we have life and agency, and our faith is predicated on a way to return to God)). Since it is one of the "Great Gifts", things or actions that sully agency are/is immoral. Pornography is addictive, I can reduce people's agency, make them feel dependent on it. So, it is immoral. This will include Soda or sugar addition, alcohol, drugs, tea and coffee, which are substances that more recent literature the church has posted on the subject of the word of wisdom have included.
Maybe it's not an issue with tea and coffee specifically, maybe it's an issue with addictive consumed substances. Tea and coffee get more focus because they were around at the time of the initial revelation, and because the text of the original revelation is so ingrained it's been hard to update it to include the further substances, particularly the ones people became fond of in youth.

About Women doing a dis-service by getting a job:
It's is perfectly acceptable for women to have jobs. But, if avoidable, which is becoming ever less viable, it is sub-optimal. The basic social unit is the family. That is a father and a mother. The mother's role is to nurture and care for children. The father's role is to protect, provide, and preside. The father is submissive to God, the mother is submissive to the father (she is still fully an entity, being submissive doesn't make her a slave or mean she doesn't have a voice. It means, since the father protects, provides, and presides, that the mother trusts him to fulfill his duty to the family, and he has the final say in many matters. The mother still gives her input, has her voice heard, to give the father additional reason and perspective to consider. However, a ship with two captains trying to sail it in different directions at the same time will not end well. A household needs a person with final say, which is placed on the father; not because the mother is less, but because God gave that duty, and direct obligation to God in that matter (that the father must be held accountable for) and gave that duty to the father). (Another part is that men are more disposable biologically speaking, that's why on average more of them are born than girls; and they get the more dangerous jobs in the family dynamic. Providing food used to be a whole lot more dangerous. They are more disposable not because men are inherently trash, but there's the thought experiment: If you have 10 men and 1 women, or 10 women and 1 man, in which scenario are you more capable of repopulating).
Tangent aside. Women are not precluded from working. But it is sub-optimal because the children need people to raise and educate them. They also need good examples of men and women (So that boys know what to emulate in their fathers and look for in women, and girls know what to emulate in their mothers and look for in men). And they need the care and support, best offered by mothers.
additionally, in general women in the workforce will earn the median/average wage. This article (finance.yahoo.com/news/much-economists-stay-home-moms-130001098.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAACe6fawnsP0Ai9Xm_aaSGYmFK92OlJ_OhyZ5_ozLpSixmsyReh6ON3U2rRk_6gH0E69qu5oUzJHHKaUAmBd9QPty95Tbbli-x0o0HKRHb4QZCYNUpgbB4jTkf0JWzTVCuVzK7BdDzl1eHbDWwv759YXEXZ-lifLXp9_v88_mNmgA) sites figures that say that stay at home moms, by maintaining all the different chores/work/jobs of being a mother; that if those tasks were outsourced would cost between $125,000 to $185,000 thousand a year. Restated to try to make my point intelligible. Stay at home moms do the work that if outsourced would cost between $125,000 and $185,000. Instead, they are encouraged to give that up and earn the median wage (what? between $50,000 and $60,000 a year, and in addition have to pay for child support?). So basically, in general the obtain greater personal fulfillment, essentially earn between two to three times as much money a year, and create a strong family by being a stay at home mom.
So, yeah, you can go work, all power to you. But there are legitimate arguments that it's sub-optimal.

Ok, as a current latter-day saint and someone who likes to learn about history of the church I will try to explain some of the issues you seem very concerned about. Yes, it’s true that people of color, more specifically black and African American members weren’t allowed to receive leadership roles (some of which I can’t really explain because it’d take too long) in the past. Even though it is said to be a command from our Heavenly Father or God, I believe (and other members too) that this was done by leaders to adhere to beliefs from those times when segregation and racism was sadly very common. Maybe they were just personal beliefs, you know how people can be, even if they are called by God to lead and preach. And we see that happening in scripture too. Anyways, that can be the case now too. We see leaders changing “rules” or more often recommendations really, to be more adapted to these times. Yes, it can be odd even for members, but at the end of the day it is the individuals that decide what to do and not. Yes we are told to listen to our leaders and prophets, but you also need to learn to identify what is to be done and not according to what you have learned (hopefully) from scriptures etc. Also, it really is about “feeling” which church you believe is the real one out of the millions out there, and actually, there are resources for members and non members if you’d like to learn about religions like Islam. I could find you some links if you’d like. Besides, leaders of different churches and our church meet in conferences and other types of meetings to learn about each others differences and similarities and help people around the globe regardless of religious beliefs. The point is to LOVE ONE ANOTHER and live a rightful life that you can benefit from. Again, I could find some resources if you’d like to learn more, I apologize for not being able to give you detailed information. Overall, just believe in what you want to, we believe that you are here on earth to learn and make your own decisions as you see best fit. I believe in the church because yes, it makes me feel good and I’ve received so much from God and members alike. I’m glad to be a member and I hope that you guys don’t waste your time if you really don’t want to but just try out different things and religions. There’s something for everyone out there. Thank you for reading all of that if you did. I hope to have explained well as English isn’t my first language. Take care

From the beginning Jesus preached marriage between one man and one woman. There are examples of polygamy in the Old Testament but this was certainly not mainstream after Christ. Mormon doctrine promoted racist and polygamist ideology that they later went back on after “new revelations.” This is absurd to me because you can’t have new revelations when politically/socially convenient.

I’m just saying that because when you say that Jesus will love you no matter what kinda makes it sound like you can eat, drink and be merry and still live with God again when that is completely untrue of course. I never knew at the time it was a cult but I was very averse to it. Thankfully I was rightfully averse to it. I remember the day of the week I bought Super Mario 3d Land. It was on a Sunday. I remember specifically Mom telling me not to tell them that we went out and bought it on a Sunday. Now I didn’t have to live as a Mormon thankfully. I know for a fact that the book of Mormon is true. The audible voice of God shook me to the bone & told me to "deny not the Holy Spirit".
I was talking to God, & telling Him that I thought I had "graduated religion". Meaning, I wasn't sure if I needed religion anymore. I was a bit confused at the time to say the least.
I had already felt the Holy Spirit & had a burning in my bosom many, many times before. God had already testified to me by the Spirit.
The warmth in my chest I felt in that moment wasn't unfamiliar. It was the burning fire of the Holy Spirit, a clear message, a familiar confirmation that resonated deeply. Undeniable. I was shown that: Joseph Smith's vision of God the Father & Jesus Christ standing together in the air was true. The Book of Mormon wasn't just any book; it was the very word of God. And the temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints weren't mere buildings, but sacred houses of the Lord, where families & couples could be eternally bound together.
What other evidence did I need?
By the mercy & Grace of God, I heard His voice. I will never deny it. And I will proclaim & declare it forever.
Jesus Christ is the Living God. He is my Savior. He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He will return to rule and reign on this earth. The Book of Mormon AND the Bible will help us draw even closer to him. I promise this is true. We must repent & have faith in Him. I share this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

    0:01 It’s not a cult, it’s a church that has it’s own religions.
0:07 so you didn’t want to make a promise with god to extent your loving relationship about your religion with other people?
0:12 also, there is a verse in the Book of Mormon where god loves everyone equally.
0:28 just today, I saw a woman with pants at my church. She actually has a very hood calling for the church, and has many spiritual things happen to her.
0:31 you are allowed to do things on Sunday, but some things are restricted due to the day being sacred to the religion. Sunday’s are meant for everyone to love and get together with their families. There are many activities you can do on sundays as well. It’s mostly just sports and shopping that aren’t really good to do, but you have the complete right to do them. You can watch TV as well, by the way.
0:35 coffee and tea are things I didn’t understand very well, but I like to ignore them because either way they are bad for you can don’t seem much of a problem. By the way, coffee and tea can be very addictive.
0:43 that was very rude and unwise of him.
0:51 so you didn’t want to give a talk in the church because you didn’t want too? Uhm. As a Mormon giving a talk is one of the most incredible things that I can possibly feel. It makes my heart happy since I can feel the love of the spirit.
0:55 yes, Adam and Eve are a perfect example of not being gay. Being gay means that you cant have children. While the opposite means you can live with your family. Also, I wouldn’t recommend going to BYU if you feel this way.
0:58 what’s wrong with that? Either way, the second coming is when we all migrate to Missouri.
1:02 yes, garments. It’s a loving way of showing your relationship with your religion. Besides, they seem very comfortable, and I’m only 14.
1:07 giving your tithing is meant for the restricted people who are disabled. The 10% money members donate if to help the lives of others. I’m 14, and I’m a kid. Giving 10% of the 10 dollars I have isn’t something horrible.
1:26 hunt you down? Serving a mission isn’t forcing people to believe in their religion. Instead we leave it optional but try to teach it to you.

Okay half of this is so wrong lol we can wear any dress we want but we wear dresses so that the whole experience feels more holy and lets us feel like we are looking good in a place of god! We have many gay people in our church and we love them! The reason why we have so much money is because we pay tithing and that is used to build temples, give to charity, and to save in case of an emergency! Also talking bad about Joseph smith and him having a lot of wives doesn’t make sense! That was a normal thing for that time period and sure he made a lot of mistakes but he also repented for those mistakes also god and Jesus forgave him! (Church is also now 2 hours and u don’t even need to stay the whole time!) we also love every religion and never want to make others feel bad about being in that religion because everyone has the right to believe in what they want to! The last think is that we can’t have coffee or tea just like how some religion can’t have meat! It might not make sense, but it’s just a rule that some people follow! And your not required to follow it! Everything is just what you feel is moral between you and god! I love u guys all so much and I hope this cleared some stuff up!

Let's weigh the amount of evidence in order to make a good determination.
      1) Joseph Smith did not tell anyone he had seen God the Father and Jesus Christ, and it wasn't until 1838 that he had his scribe write it down -- years after the claimed event. Assistant Church Historian Dr. James B. Allen wrote an article in 1966 saying that "none of the available contemporary writings about Joseph Smith in the 1830's, none of the publications of the Church in that decade, and no contemporary journal or correspondence yet discovered mentions the story of the first vision...."
The first time Joseph Smith told of his First Vision it was 1832 when he said it was a visitation of "the Lord" who told him his sins were forgiven. He said (and he wrote in his own handwriting) "I saw the Lord." Joseph Smith did not say he saw the Father.
Then in 1835 he dictated an account to his scribe, Warren Parrish, who wrote it in Joseph Smith's 1835-6 Diary. In this account Joseph says "A pillar of fire appeared above my head,...a personage appeared in the midst of this pillar of flame which was spread all around, and yet nothing consumed, another personage appeared, he said unto me 'thy sins are forgiven thee, he testifyed [sic] unto me that Jesus Christ is the Son of God; and I saw many angels in this vision."
Joseph did not claim these personages were the Father and the Son until 1842. Even the Deseret News did not say Joseph Smith had seen the Father and the Son. In 1852 they published the church's account of Joseph Smith First Vision, where they said Joseph had given an account of his "first Visitation of Angels, which was when I was about fourteen years old..."
It was not until Joseph Smith CHANGED his theology away from a Trinitarian viewpoint over to a belief that God and Jesus were personages of separate bodies that Joseph Smith began to claim he saw the Father and the Son. His accounts of the First Vision did not start until 1832 when he wrote down one account saying he "saw the Lord." In 1832 he still believed in the Trinity. He gradually changed his theology until 1842 when he developed the idea that God the Father and Jesus were 2 separate persons.
The story regarding Peter, James and John coming to visit was concocted much later. In fact Joseph never even gave a date, month or year when Peter, James and John supposedly visited. You'd think he would have remembered that!!!! Date unknown, is all we know. Also this newly developing theology conflicts with Joseph Smith's earlier theology. Notice Joseph Smith has a Prophet state in the Book of Mormon that the dead will not rise until the Second Coming (Alma 40:2). So how could the resurrected Peter, James, and John have physically appeared to Joseph Smith? These glitches (and there are many more) are evidence that Joseph Smith concocted these stories, just as he concocted the Golden Plates, and the story of Moroni, who in the earliest accounts is named as being "The Prophet Nephi."
And you KNOW this is true? How? Because you have a "feeling." The followers of Jim Jones (People's Temple) *also had a strong witness from God* that Jim Jones was God's spokesman. And they were willing to die for this testimony! And they did die for it.
Are you claiming that YOUR testimony is the only valid one, and everyone else who has a witness about a faith that conflicts with yours is incorrect? Of course that is your claim. The *Followers of Heaven's Gate all testified of the Truthfulness* and warm witness from God they had of their faith.
FEELINGS are NOT TRUTH. The Truth is found by having EVIDENCE to back it up. There is NONE for Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. WAKE UP before it is too late!

  • @adamsellie9
    @adamsellie9 4 місяці тому +2

lol so half of these things are not church doctrine. We are allowed to wear pants to church, there’s no dress code. “Come as you are” is a quote we strongly believe in. Also women missionaries are allowed to wear dress pants. In addition to that, on Sundays, there’s no strict rule on what we have to do. Most follow the Bible, keep the sabbath day holy. However the personal families interpret that, is up to them and them alone. I go out to eat and play sports on Sundays 🤷🏻‍♀️, but I know many families who prefer to spend time with each other and don’t spend money on Sundays (which actually is in the Bible, not making people work on Sunday’s, so a lot of mormons don’t support people having to work on Sunday, so they won’t spend money at those places).
The church is all about AGENCY. You can do as you please. I’ve seen a lot of ex mormons complain about how they never could do anything as a mormon and how it’s a cult, but just because you grew up in a strict mormon family, does not mean that all mormons are that way or that the church tells us to be that way. The church might give recommendations , but it’s never a rule. You can always do what you want to, you have agency.
I joined the church when I was 19, so I have seen it from both sides. I have a very strong opinion on the ex mormon community and the hate we get. I can understand why some people feel hurt by people of the church. But something i’m very strong about is just because you were hurt by people of the church does not mean our doctrine is false and also doesn’t mean every mormon is bad. You have to remember the reason why you’re there, which is God. You’re not there for the members of the church. That’s why i’m strong on people needing to gain a testimony of the Book of Mormon. Because if you’re just a member because you grew up a mormon and you don’t have that personal relationship with God or that testimony of the Book of Mormon, obviously you’ll probably want to leave, because humans are humans and they might say something offensive that could you hurt you. We have to realize that the people of the church are not perfect. Same thing for even the leaders of our church. We are all human and make mistakes, and we have to remember that we are at church for God alone. The church is not perfect, only God is.
I grew up strict Baptist, and had people say things all the time that made me want to leave. I ended up leaving the church after realizing they didn’t have half the answers I was looking for, and I also had no personal relationship to God. After years of basically being non religious, I felt so empty and lost. After joining the “mormon” church, I found God again, and have strengthened my relationship with Him so much more than ever before. I am way happier than I have ever been and love the church. I’ve had things said to me by members and I don’t even have a lot of friends in the church, but I can’t deny how the temple makes me feel and how truly better my life has been since i’ve joined.
All I can say is, for those who judge mormons, seeking information from actual members and praying and asking God about our church, could really change your perspective.

While there are appropriate responses to all of these statements, perhaps the one to share should be regarding women wearing pants in church. Since the first chapter in the Bible, God has demanded respect from all of His creations. In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, we love our Heavenly Father and show that love by having respect for Him, for others, and for ourselves. Since the beginning of time, respect was shown for God by wearing the finest clothes which were available when attending worship services. For millenia, men and women were expected to wear clothing which was modest and appropriate to their gender when entering places dedicated to worship. I would be surprised if you could find any Christian church before the 1950’s, in the United States or possibly the world, where women were not required to routinely wear a dress when in the chapel or it’s equivalent. It is still a sign of respect for the men to at least wear a white shirt, slacks and a tie to church, and a suit is considered most appropriate. While the Savior would never exclude a sincere seeker of truth from any participation in His church, there are many ways to see that all understand and are able to show the proper respect for the ordinances. For at least the last 30 years, I am not aware of any ward (congregation) where someone was barred from entering the chapel because of their dress. If their clothing is too immodest, there are usually several members ready to loan them appropriate substitutes and assist them in preparing to worship properly. Women who are investigating the church often attend wearing pants, and usually no comment is made, unless questioned. If they continue to attend, they quickly recognize the difference in clothing and generally start dressing to blend with the other attendees. It is a shame that, even within the church, each succeeding generation seems to be being taught less and less about respect for Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, and respect for others and themselves. As an additional comment: for approximately the past six years, sister missionaries have been allowed to wear pants while proselyting.

This is the only true church of Christ that even makes sense. Truly. No other denomination of Protestant or Catholic or Orthodox is pure in doctrine. Ours is and stands in perfect harmony with the Bible. I have discovered this after years of studying the history of the church and studying the Bible. Keep holding on to that rod brother.

This is the gospel of Christ
      👉(1Cor 15:1-4). This gospel was a mystery =Ephesians 6:19/Romans 16:25,26
Before Jesus death, nobody knew about Jesus death burial and resurrection.
      But
The book of Mormon disagrees with this.

@@jeffs4483 I HATE defending this religion but I also hate peoples misleading/lying. Here are some examples of her not telling the truth.
She claims that “up until 1978, anyone other than pasty white people, could not WORSHIP or hold any position in the church.” THIS is an example of one truth and one lie. Block people couldn’t hold the Melchizedek Priesthood that is true. It is a LIE that black people couldn’t worship in the church.
Woman ARE allowed to wear pants to church. This video is from 2022. She’s lying. Women might have been “looked down upon” for wearing pants to church but they absolutely CAN wear pants to church. Female missionaries do it.
Church is NOT 3 hours long. This used to be true but it changed to two hours in 2019, 3 years before this video was uploaded. LIE.
One persons opinion on women working is not official church doctoring. She’s not lying here someone likely said it but that’s one person’s interpretation.
You CAN be gay at BYU, you cannot, however, perform same sex acts. While I don’t agree with this, it’s misleading nonetheless.
Utah is not considered “the holy land.” It’s not the Mecca like in Islam or Jerusalem etc. Some may have called it a holy land but it’s not doctrinal. this is misleading and untrue.
