Increasing accessibility in theatre is a huge problem rn, especially when making sure it's not exploitive to its audiences. LARP and other experiences like this show one possible solution. So cool and I'll definitely be getting my ticket soon
To quote Momo: "I think it might be Sarah's favourite video". She was, in fact, correct! Happy spooky season everyone, go get yourselves scared by the monster in your closet!
Vincent’s improv skills are honestly through the freaking roof, i would love to do something like he does when I grow up. The whole team is so creative and honestly this is a one in a million creation. So freaking cool.
Audio is such an important piece of horror. Most of the compelling ARGs and Analog Horror pieces are good because of sound design. A horror experience on your phone is a recipe for so good scares.
or the lack of it... I've seen quite a lot of horror films... to the point where I don't really want to watch them anymore... partly because of the sound often reveals the scare before time...
Vincent is fcking amazing. He could be a VA with how much emotion he had coming through his voice from the first words he said. I hope they continue making more Stories. This is such a cool and clever medium of storytelling. Momo Your editing was so good. You mentioned in the chat you were worried about it since the fotage is of you sitting down, but genuinely I didn't even notice that. The music and effects as well as your perfect timing made each "scene" flow perfectly into the next! I also loved the clips from other horror things. Anyway, Good going champ!
There is something so oddly comforting in Momo’s very sweet, befuddled responses to the abjectly horrifying sounds and concepts coming out of her phone.
Torn between an intense hatred of horror movies/games/interactive media and an intense desire to do this just because FINALLY, a cool experience I wouldn't have to travel hundreds of kilometres and spend extravagant amounts of money to participate in! I hope this company or others expand into other genres with this concept - I understand why they did horror first, it's a great pull especially around spooky season, but I would love a historical drama or detective investigation using this format.
A horror story through this medium actually is super fucking cool, and it somehow seems so much more immersive than a in person haunted house, I’m guessing because it’s a 1-1 horror targeted to you. I bet the whole premise of a helpline makes it so much more accessible because anyone no matter the experience can relate to trying to help somebody out.
i thought that jump scares were the worst,,, but a horror phone call with only your imagination to fill in the blanks? jump scares have officially been overthrown in my mind that being said, this video was super cool and i loved every second of it
This might be silly, but there’s almost another level to this experience that I haven’t seen mentioned. This is your job, so aside from being (usually) older than Danny, you are literally have to be the authority figure! Without disclosing too much, I work training people for a customer help line where kids call in for average issues. But you’re (at least I am) always terrified that today you’re going to get the call that is a kid in a big problem. I’ve had kiddos call from rehab clinics and, even though I did not need to know specific info just to help with their school question, they just told me very deeply personal info. And you have to respond and assure them that everything will be okay and it’s nothing to be ashamed of. On the phone, you cannot know when the other person will speak, so you cannot cut them off to stop the information flow. Honestly, I’m the biggest wimp, but I might sign up for this now lol
Right when the video even began for me it buffered without showing me the little symbol, so I thought it being frozen on the static was intentional but then it was long enough of a pause for the transition to jump scare me 😂😂
Thanks for addressing how neurodivergent folk might have different needs in these situations. This neurodivergent person was happy you did because I often feel unsafe and avoid these kinds of immersive experiences because they don't consider us. ❤
This is why podcasts are my favorite medium for horror, because you are only left with sound and your imagination. Awesome video!!! This was so well done, especially the analysis into horror!
I kinda want to do this, it's really hard for me to find immersive experiences where I live so virtual immersive experiences are my only real way of doing them, however, my extreme fear of phone calls and absolute chicken brain would probably make me let that call ring through without me picking it up.
Leaving it up to your brain to fill in those gaps is exactly what made my first Call of Cthulhu session run til 5 am because we were TERRIFIED and stalled for six hours This experience would give me intrusive thoughts for like a week
I can't really pinpoint what it is, but something about your videos, your style of storytelling makes me feel all the good feelings. (Also I was kind of relieved that you didn't /couldn't show more of the story because I was starting to fear I might not be able to sleep tonight haha)
I was picturing like a hot chocolate lava cake but with like maybe an extra layer of like caramel and fudge, or maybe with some extra crunchies on it. To answer your question re: the box :) Although, I will say, when the box was tipped over and open at 38:09, I recognized that it was meant to be spooky, but the image of the cake was still there from earlier, so then I was picturing like a haunted lava cake crawling around your house, pulling itself around with little cake-monster-arms. Lol :) Anyways this looks really cool and you had a really interesting analysis of it too! I might have to try this some time!
Momo have you heard of the Lifeline games? They're phone games where (kind of like this!) you get a message from an unknown source asking for help, and you advise the main character(s) on what you think they should do. The first one is about a student astronaut named Taylor, and you help them find help after their ship goes down on a mysterious moon!
@@MoMoOBrien I personally LOVE the Lifeline games!!! They play out in real time as well. The best one in my opinion is Lifeline 2 simply because it’s much longer than other Lifeline games, it’s a very different genre from the other Lifeline games (fantasy instead of sci-fi), and the main character is personally very relatable to me. It’s about a teenage witch named Arika, set out on a dangerous magical journey to avenge the death of her parents and find her long-lost brother. I recommend playing that one first (although all Lifeline stories are separate from each other, so it doesn’t matter which one you start with). I really hope you play one of these games sometime!!!
yes !! i played whiteout!! such a good recommendation! when momo mentioned the feeling of deeply deeply MISSING danny, i totally got thrown back in time to when i finished that game :’-) so so good
Part of me wants to do this because I'm so curious about the story (not entirely convinced that Danny isn't the monster 🤔) but I am someone who saw like 10 minutes of a ghost show and had to sleep in my sister's room for three months because it scared me so badly. 😵💫 So chances of me actually doing this are slim. And this is why I live vicariously through Momo
Tiramisu - and really tempted to get a ticket to this experience if I can find a solid hour somewhere to give it ♡ great explanations of the experience, makes it way more accessible to people with anxiety about events/theater theyve never been involved with before.
This experience review honestly turned out way cooler than I expected. As someone who wants to try out immersive experiences but generally can't bc of price, this format seems way more accessible while not taking up days of time. I love the way you try to show a large variety of experiences. Btw I imagined a slice of yellow cake, which imo if it's high quality, a simple cake can't be beat.
I believe this is the earliest I have been to a Mo Mo... maybe ever? But oh my absolute gosh, this was amazing. The format of this experience is certainly one I haven't seen before, so when this video was first announced, I was intrigued. Especially as an utter scaredy cat when it comes to horror (how I made it through 200 episodes of _The Magnus Archives_ I don't even know), so it is actually nice to see someone who is similarly scared about horror elements if that makes sense? Certainly to know if I would personally be okay participating in this experience or if this is one I ought to stay away from. I really loved seeing the fact they had safety mechanics, for the very reasons you named in the video, because so far I haven't personally been in many experiences other than my DND table that did that, so that is certainly a good thing. In total, I really loved this video. I liked the switch between the actual location footage of you and the text on screen of the call and the soundwaves moving and them in different colours to further indicate different people were talking, the musical cues, and the subtle hue change to blue on occasion with the pink flashes? Talk about using your typical colour scheme and aesthetic to match the vibe of the experience, that is so cool! And - just, the entire editing is brilliant. It was amazing to see how this experience personalizes related to your answers, and it was also great to hear the Behind The Scenes voices, to get an idea of how this experience was created. I don’t think I will check out the experience myself just because - yeah, watching the video was fine but I doubt I’d be okay doing it myself? It’s just too much, but that is one of the many reasons I love your channel, because that way I can well access if I would or would not be okay at different experiences and that helps a ton, especially since usually I’d have to leave my country for them and I don’t wanna do that if I have reason to doubt that I will love it there. I will for certain recommend this to a friend of mine though, who is an utter horror geek. Wooow, long comment. Anyways, I loved this video. It was super-well done and I really felt like you gave a great insight into the event without spoiling it, which I know from my own experience is _difficult as heck_ to do. So yes, thank you very much, Mo Mo, for yet another great video on immersive experiences!
Oh no no no no oh that is too scary for me but honestly the idea that the experience could be so cathartic is really intriguing. And perhaps just as scary as a monster in the closet! Also oh my god your dress is amazing I absolutely love it.
There’s an amazing immersive theatre experience in New York known as Sleep No More. It is quite possibly the best theatre experience I’ve ever had. I highly recommend it.
This was such a cool experience! I’m curious if other genres could work in a phone-based interactive story format, or if horror is uniquely suited for this experience. Like, would a fantasy or heist story work via a phone call? So, yes, I would like to see more videos about accessible immersive experiences, but also take care of yourself and explore whatever stories and genres you feel called to! 💜 Also, I saw chocolate cake with buttercream frosting and chocolate-covered strawberries
Mo Mo this was incredible to experience!! I can't imagine how it must have felt being the person on the other side of that call when I'm watching here and creeped out of my skin.
I need to say this because I've been watching your videos for a long time now and I've always noticed it but this video makes it even more evident: your method and structure for storytelling is superb.
Momo never fails to make me feel like her best friend or that we're literally the same person (scared of everything? Yes hello that's me) and sorry but I will have to continue to be apart of your nightmares of those who watch your old content 😅 its the nostalgia of being a young tween/teen in 2013
This sounds amazing. At the end when you were like "I wanna do it again" is such a mood. Like a roller coaster that seems scary but once you get off you feel like you could do it again and again!
Ahhh I loved this so much!! Accessibility is for everyone!!! Creative theater is THE BEST! Also I have been craving spooky stuff with some laughs (my fav genre) so this truly scratched the itch (hehe pun). Thank you Mo Mo!!!
saw you post this video and watched the first fifteen minutes before being like “nah, im gonna experience this for myself first” couple weeks later, just finished my call an hour ago and,, thank you so much for introducing this to me, that was 100% one of the coolest things i’ve ever done ❤ 10/10 would recommend
Speaking of horror Anyone else go into sheer panic mode when you search momo without her last name and your confronted with nightmares If you don’t know what I’m talking about. Don’t search it! Save yourselves a good night sleep! Fab Video Putting Me in the mood for Spoopy Season! Keep up the great work ❤
@@MoMoOBrien ❤ so glad I just think of you now, your content is so wonderful to see compared to you know what (it’s burns my soul 😳) again keep up the great work! Can’t wait for the next video ❤
Seriously, this is such a cool and awesome accessible experience that anyone can enjoy. And the fact they have a safe phrase at the ready for if the caller wants to end it for whatever reason, this needs to be a thing for any sort of interactive theatrical experience. This is also an experience that is perfect for the spooky month. So I will for sure look into this experience. 💜
Hi Momo - been watching your videos for a while now just wanted to say that You are Really Good at This Stuff that you do ... (didnt know how to word that actually, im referring to all the different things you tackle) please know that your content is reaching people and is really inspiring . refreshing really. wishing you all the best thanks for the great content -
This whole experience seems utterly terrifying. Answering the phone when it rings? No thanks. (also this is such a good video and the Spooky Season vibes are on point)
Momo you always find a way to make me smile. I’m going through quite a bit rn and this video is exactly what I needed. Thank you so much. Keep doing what makes you happy, cause it makes the rest of us happy.
I did this when they first launched it and I got super into it, I even developed my own character as it went on, I had to explain to Danny that he was dealing with a Changeling and he needed to kill it.
@@MoMoOBrien it was super fun, I'm really into folklore so I got really into it and was asking all sorts of indepth questions about what had been going on, unfortunately it ended the same way for me. Just couldn't save Danny.
The one thing I can actually do in terms of immersive experiences, I kinda wanna make this my future job, I wanna get into acting and I LOVE horror (fave horror movie Scream, fave horror character in terms of looks: Ratman, fave horror character in terms of personality: Stu Macher, no idea why I feel I should add this I just do) I would kill to be a horror character
I love how momo handles horror experiences. With fantasy we generally get a layout of the experience but with the two horror experiences we don't get the whole story and instead get some really cool behind the scene content. I know with the other horror experience it was because momo wanted to be fully immersed and with this it was because the creators asked her to not show part of it but it's still super fun to get to learn stuff and not have the story spoiled
I can't believe I missed it! (Clicked the bell so that doesn't happen again!) That's so awesome! I know this is a very specific moment from the video, but I agree that space is TERRIFYING. I sometimes listen to a podcast that tells bedtime stories, in order to go to sleep. Once they did a story about "bedtime on the international space station" and I stopped mid-episode because my anxiety could not handle it. Everything is scary!
"No, don't be sorry, you're just in one hell of a pickle. You didn't do anything wrong you're just in a supernatural circumstance!" Literally the best thing i've heard in so long.
Mo Mo, you did a fantastic job!!! You don't have to do more horror stuff if you're not comfortable with it, by the way. We love any content you do, especially if you are having fun. Keep doing what you enjoy, and we'll enjoy seeing you be happy! Take care of yourself, and well done on yet another excellent video!
This is a really cool concept and, by the sound of it, a therapy moment! It sounds amazing and I'm really happy you got to experience it. You are amazing, Momo.
For the dessert in the box, I was picturing a plate of home-made pristiños with panela syrup, but then I was like, why would a Canadian girl have an Ecuadorian dish there! lol. Which supports what you were saying about leaving things to the audience imagination, because it can even break cultural boundaries. Great video!
For some reason I decided in the box was a angel food cake shaped like one of the fossils from animal crossing and that just made my day a bit brighter. Thank you. I now want to make like 20 and devour them
I enjoy horror, and this seems like an AMAZING experience. Usually I can only daydream about participating in the experiences that you partake in, because they're not near me and I have no way of getting there. This, though... This is very tempting.
I really loved this omg hahaha I’m so glad that you react in a similar way I think I would. Thank you so much Momo for sharing this experience with us Dessert in the cute box probably pancakes layered with Nutella and strawberries in like a tiny cake shape?
This sounds so scary. Several times I had spook and was really glad I'm not the one, who have to speak with scared child. It was really cool. Hope you're well and safe 🙏
What a genius idea! And i could feel the suspense through the screen, thank you so much for this awesome video ^-^ (and yes, i want Danny to get a therapist, so here is the comment :P)
I love watching your videos because, for a lot of them, I may never get to do them personally. But this! I'm definitely going to do! Even though I hate phone calls
“You’d make a great voice actor Danny” the voice actor was probably trying to keeping it together 😂
I am someone who gets entirely freaked out by horror, but honestly the pastel aesthetic helped me through the video 🤣
Yea I didn’t want the video itself to be too scary, while still accurately portraying the experience, so I’m glad that came across. Thanks.

I wouldn't be able to take this seriously because the description of that monster just gives me gender envy
Dude I need to see those Phasmophobia gameplay videos fr
Thank you for showing this. It’s a really cool idea that I’m now glad I’m aware of.
saw you post this video and watched the first fifteen minutes before being like “nah, im gonna experience this for myself first”
couple weeks later, just finished my call an hour ago and,, thank you so much for introducing this to me, that was 100% one of the coolest things i’ve ever done ❤ 10/10 would recommend
I knew it. I KNEW that in addition to being so cool she had to be a Gilmore Girls fan (the Luke's mug)
Speaking of horror
Anyone else go into sheer panic mode when you search momo without her last name and your confronted with nightmares
If you don’t know what I’m talking about. Don’t search it! Save yourselves a good night sleep!
Fab Video Putting Me in the mood for Spoopy Season! Keep up the great work ❤
God my Twitter mentions were a MESS for like a week because of that dummy 😭
@@MoMoOBrien ❤ so glad I just think of you now, your content is so wonderful to see compared to you know what (it’s burns my soul 😳) again keep up the great work! Can’t wait for the next video ❤
XD When it’s a jumpscare it’s scary, but when you stare at the picture for a long time it just ends up being super hilarious
(didnt know how to word that actually, im referring to all the different things you tackle) please know that your content is reaching people and is really inspiring . refreshing really. wishing you all the best thanks for the great content -
Momo?! Are you there? I miss your vids
Yo what! That’s so cool!
I loved every second of this! I am absolutely one of the people in the comments saying please do more things like this!
"No, don't be sorry, you're just in one hell of a pickle. You didn't do anything wrong you're just in a supernatural circumstance!"
Literally the best thing i've heard in so long.
I LOVE this! It feels like a natural next step from one of those horror subscription boxes. Not sure I could commit, though. You're so brave!
Each one of Momo's videos is worth the wait
God…thank you for saying that.
Mo Mo you're so brave! i'm anxious just from watching this! Also seeing you and Matt makes me so happy you guys are the cutest 🥰
You are amazing, Momo.
this sounds like such a unique horror experience. i definitely wanna try it one day
Wow there is so much interesting Immersive experiences I never knew about thanks to your channel. You do a great job showing us these mystical worlds.
It makes me so happy that Momo speaks so well about inclusivity in larps etc!! Tysm Mo
Thank you. I now want to make like 20 and devour them
All animal crossing themed desserts are 20% tastier I’m pretty sure
@@MoMoOBrien I’m sure too! I’ll have to use this as an excuse to do it and uhhh do it for the science!
I enjoy horror, and this seems like an AMAZING experience. Usually I can only daydream about participating in the experiences that you partake in, because they're not near me and I have no way of getting there. This, though... This is very tempting.
I love watching the nerves slough off and the mom friend emerge
I really loved this omg hahaha I’m so glad that you react in a similar way I think I would. Thank you so much Momo for sharing this experience with us
Dessert in the cute box probably pancakes layered with Nutella and strawberries in like a tiny cake shape?
this was amazing! now excuse me while i go (re)watch the goat video to recover
It’s like Schroeder’s cat. Some think/hope it’s dead, some think/ hope it’s alive.
This sounds so scary. Several times I had spook and was really glad I'm not the one, who have to speak with scared child. It was really cool. Hope you're well and safe 🙏
despite having a mini meltdown trying to make my pc work, I'm really enjoying this video, it's so cool !!
Oh my pc does this thing where sometimes it just doesn’t want to connect to the internet, and that happened this morning and I wanted to SCREAM
@@MoMoOBrien mine does that so much, especially after blue screening
*shakes violently* WHATS IN THE BOXXXXXX
I love seeing Dead Meat pop up in a place I didn't think I'd see them be mentioned! Great people and channel over there!
Love their stuff and they help me feel brave 😂
Oh my god that looks way too scary for my anxiety to handle….
…I kinda wanna do it
the final girl transition! Was gooooood!!!!!!! I died!
My little editing way of going “boo”
@@MoMoOBrien ......haha im actually dead oh lordy u responded to me ( ͒ ́ඉ .̫ ඉ ̀ ͒)
I immediately booked a shift after watching this. This seems right up my alley and I’m so stoked to try it. What an amazing idea!
Good luck, and say hi to Danny for me 😂
What a genius idea! And i could feel the suspense through the screen, thank you so much for this awesome video ^-^
(and yes, i want Danny to get a therapist, so here is the comment :P)
this video is a piece of art Momo. this idea experience is douple scary for someone (like me) who is kind of afraid of phone calls.
This is truly brilliant. It's a better version of the "Family Therapy" improv game.
I love your channel man. It's so cool how you do all these things.
Matt is great. Oh, I don't know if I could do this one. I'm intrigued, but this might be too close to things, but yeah, cheers to Matt.
as someone who learnt written morse code the fact they included morse code is very interesting and a fun/useful concept
A new momo video on my birthday? HELL YEAH!
I love watching your videos because, for a lot of them, I may never get to do them personally. But this! I'm definitely going to do! Even though I hate phone calls
