Perfect! As it should be! Right color, right equipment and the owner had the good taste not to hokey it up with fender skirts, Continental Kit or spotlights! Just perfect!
Older video, this is one of the sharpest 57 Chevrolet's I've seen, original and beautiful, all these TRI-FIVES are AMERICAN CLASSICS, love to own this BEAUTY.
I can almost hear Cousin Brucie on WABC. LOL I think the wing nuts on the air cleaner are not properly aligned. 1 Point off for each wing nut. LOL Great upload Michael. Save the Wave.
That 1957 Chevrolet Bel-Air convertible is a very nice looking and nice running Show Car. This car is very original and not modified so that it can get a high score in the show car contests where the car is judged on its originality. It seems like many of these Tri-Five Chevrolets have had various modifications and are not original.
Thanks David, Lots of Detail and research has gone into this Bel Air; even the Center Caps on the Wheels are Pointing the Correct Way.. Such a sweet ride this is the hi po power pack Duntov put in the 283s the holy grail one it 1 hp per cubic inch iconic 57 Chevy its one of my fav tri 5s
Pitter patter goes my heart for those days. I grew up on these 3 years having owned 26 of the 55, 56 & 57 Chevies when I was in my teens and early 20s in the 1970s. Used to buy them for $50 - $100, do some work on them and sell them for $300 - $500 and I thought I was rich. First car was a 4 door red & white 56 I bought for $35 from a farmer who used it as his field car. Took it out on Route 202 and blasted that 6 cyl down the hiway and all these sparks and junk went flying out behind me, scared the crap out of me. All that putt putting around the farm had clogged up the exh a bit and I blew it out. Then I went to the Esso at 202 & 73 and looked a bit foolish as I walked around it looking to put some gas in. Old black guy came out with a big grin and showed me the latch above the left tail light. That was the beginning of my love affair with these cars. Had a red and had a turquoise 57 conv't, 55 & 56 Nomad and the rest were a mixture of 2 & 4 door sedans & hardtops and a couple of wagons. Anyway, thanks for the ride along. The 30/30 was my favorite cam of them all with that lumpy exhaust. It scared away alot of cars at the stop lights. They knew you meant business. And yes, it certainly was a simpler time.
@@TexasMan77 Yes, their popularity began to increase very late 60s and on into the 70s. Yes, manual transmissions were uncommon as a conv't was to simply sit back & cruise with little effort, let the shifting be done automatically.
I was told that a 327 cam wouldn’t fit in a 283. I was just dumb enough to do it anyway.. I put a 327/375 hp solid lifter cam. Within 250 miles I pushed the studs out of heads, so I found some 327 double hump heads with the studs pinned in. Bad bad 283 .
In the early years, there was a great deal of research and development dedicated to coming up with a powerful engine that could be produced for a reasonable price. Chevy's first V-8 engine was released in 1917.

No: 1 hp per cubic inch is the fuel injection car with 283 hp in the 283 engine. This has 270 hp "only".

Wow...that is awesome...bet you still wish you had' em all : )
Cool, was it the seventies when these began to grow in popularity? As I said I’m sure it was rare to see a conv with the manual trans.

Wow that is one very nice 57 Chvey Convertible👍
Thanks 😁

A 283 097 Dundoff cam (fuel injected with solid lifters) would work in a 327 engine.
Stunning car
Hermoso Auto 😍 lo venden 😍 ahun estará disponible 😍? Les mando un cordial saludo y un fuerte abrazo desde México 😃🤗👍👌😍👋🏼.
Electric wipers were a dealer option.
Just a rough guess of this car would be around $90k if all original
Beautiful car. Comes with 14 inch wheels, not 15
What year did GM come out with the 1st V8?
