Hard to compete with the amount of agriculture in the Midwest! Past 4 years have been tough on this property for a variety of reasons but we still have 120-130” deer every year with the occasional 140+! This county also has antler restrictions but that doesn’t stop our neighbors from shooting 2yr olds that make the 13”!
We try and run protein as much as we can, for our wildlife exemption! Funny thing is, we haven’t killed a buck that has ever really came to our protein feeders. This property is a great travel corridor and the rut will usually bring a solid shooter or two into the area!
People refer to it as a “licking branch.” Deer will rub their forehead, lick it, chew it, thrash it, to leave their scent in the area. It’s a way that bucks can tell other deer “I’m here” essentially. Bucks will constantly try to cover up each other’s scent to show they are the dominant one!
Nice!! Looks like that ecosystem is nice and healthy!! Some good one in there!!
I live in Texas and haven't hunted here due to not getting over how small the deer are compared to the midwest. Nice video!

You need high protein feeders there but it's expensive
