I'm loving the Criterion Channel's October selection this year. John Carpenter has become a personal favorite I revisit each year, so I'm looking forward to Christine and The Fog.

@@alexvillarreal6039 Same here, great features this month. I’m a big fan of John Carpenter too and planning to watch Halloween, The Fog, and The Thing this year at the very least.

I have a toy of Spock with the Horta from that episode. In his book on their relationship, Shatner tells an interesting anecdote about filming that, but I won’t ruin it in case you ever get to read that.

@@joshua2814 That’s cool. I remember that Hallmark had a holiday ornament with the Horta too. Feel free to share the anecdote if you have time. I’d love to know any trivia or story about the episode.

@@CinemaDaveMedia Shatner was away when Nimoy did the mind meld scene. When he got back, he has to film his reaction so he asked Nimoy to recreate the scene. He had him repeat the bit about pain and then made a joke like “somebody get this man an aspirin.” Apparently that really bothered Nimoy who was more method and Shatner felt bad about it and learned how seriously his friend took the craft. It’s a good book, though, if you ever see it. Shatner gives a kind of parallel biography of himself and Nimoy and recounts their friendship.
