  • Management Information Systems Study Has Major Issues ... And Here Is Why! In today´s video, I want to share with you my experience as a Student of Business Information Systems. There are some issues I had to face during my studies and I think it is important to share them with you because I want you to make the same unexpected surprise you also could face.
    Even when I criticize Management Information Systems, it doesn't that this Bachelor´s program is bad parse. But you have to prepare yourself to avoid some pitfalls if you follow my advice on how to avoid them!
    I really hope to invite as many people as possible to this discussion so we can all share our experiences and help each other to get the most out of our Bachelor´s program in Business Information Systems.
    And if you don't know why I sometimes use the terms Management Information Systems and Business Information Systems? It is because they are both the same!😀

    i am currently doing commerce subjects , do you recommend i take this course

      I'm currently in my fifth Semester and I still recommend this study. Because of this study I had the chance to work in Finance and I'm currently working for an IT company in Project management.
      From my personal experience those companies are happy to have someone with this kind of knowledge on board and I had no difficulties to find a working student position with a payment above average.
      With the working experience of 1.5 years I can tell you that your study is just a door opener but the success is based on your personality. You don't need to know everything but the motivation to learn. The studies of Management Information Systems is more about the so called People's business rather than being a full grown expert.
      Currently I have to work with two senior programmers for a standardized datenbase which is compatible with the system of our head quarter and I learned that asking "obviously stupid questions" can at the end make a big difference in your results.
      To make the answer short: Yes, I recommend it😁

    Hey man, I love your videos. I just have a question if you may. What is Business Information Systems BIS? And is it the same as MIS?

      Hey F12, thank you for your comment!
      In my opinion BIS and MIS are the same. But I can't tell you why they are named differently. My advice is always to compare the curriculum if you ever have the case that 2 different universities have different names.
      I hope I was able to help you 😊

    Bro! raslan! You are a saviour. I was pretty excited to get admitted in Furtwangen for International Business Information Systems as my 2nd degree from Finance and accounting. I do have project management experience but not with IT but with content creators. What year are you now? Do you think the course is still relevant at the moment or would you recommend a different one with your 2 years experience. Auf wieder hören. Ich komme aus den Philippinen

      Hey, I'm glad that my video could help you!😁✌️
      Since you already have experience in project management an additional MIS degree can push your career into the direction you are looking for.
      My recommendation would be to get as much experience as possible as a working student in the IT field only. If you want to start your career there. This will your increase your chances.
      When will your studies start in Furtwangen?

    I believe it’s just about MIS, this is basically the case with even other degrees, no university will teach you everything you need to succeed in the job market, you need to specialize considering demand and your potential then gather the required skills and knowledge required to close knowledge gap, build portfolio, intern etc do all you can to get practical experience, no one will invest in you, until you invest in yourself

    • @itbrezel
      @itbrezel  10 місяців тому

      On point, my friend! This is a really good advice about building up intern your portfolio.
      Here is a further advice I want to give:
      A couple months ago a talked to one of the HR managers at Telekom. We have discussed about the potential of AI in application processes and how they use the AI to determine if someone fits into the position.
      One of the chances to stand out from your competitors is to have references from your last work. The more "senior" someone is who can proof that you have done great work, the better it is for you.
      Just write the headline "References" into your CV with the contact possiblity of the person who was responsible for you.
      But be careful. You shouldn't mention anyone you haven't addressed this with. As a rule, companies check this because not many applicants do it.

    Hi, glaubst du, dass ChatGpt dafür sorgen wird, dass Berufe wie Wirtschaftsinformatik irrelevanter werden und wir von der KI ersetzt werden? Ich möchte diesen Beruf nachgehen, doch habe ich die Befürchtung, dass ich das unnötig am Ende studiere und am Ende mit nichts dastehe

    • @itbrezel
      @itbrezel  Рік тому

      Hi😁,
      ich werde meine Sicht der Dinge aus 2 Perspektiven betrachten und dir dabei hoffentlich helfen deine Frage ausführlich zu beantworten.
      1. Es gibt nicht "DEN" Beruf eines Wirtschaftsinformatikers. Das ist auch der Grund, weshalb Wirtschaftsinformatiker je nach Jobinteresse in verschiedene Branchen eintauchen können. Viele IT Nähe Berufe setzen das Studium der Wirtschaftsinformatik voraus. Das bedeutet für dich, dass du dir Gedanken darüber machen solltest, was du später mal machen möchtest und ob das Studium der Wirtschaftsinformatik dich dabei unterstützt dein Ziel zu erreichen.
      Frage: Hast du schon grob eine Vorstellung wohin du gehen möchtest?
      2. Ich persönlich habe ich auch ChatGPT benutzt und für mich ist es nur eine verbesserte Google Funktion mit mehr Interaktionsmöglichkeiten. Ich denke aber, dass Influencer gerne den Hype dazu nutzen, um mit möglichst reißerischen Inhalte das "Ende der Welt" prognostizieren. Das bringt Klicks, neue Abonnenten und daher auch mehr Likes. Dementsprechend bleibe ich in dieser Hinsicht locker.

      Noch einen weiteren Tipp von mir: Du solltest probieren während deines Studiums möglichst viel praktische Erfahrungen als Werkstudent zu sammeln und auch mal hier und da mit Kommilitonen reden, die bereits einen Job haben, ob sie helfen könnten. Manchmal lädt der Professor in einem Newsletter eine Stellenanzeige selber hoch oder ansonsten die klassischen Plattformen, wie Indeed, LinkedIn etc. nutzen.
      Ansonsten wünsche ich dir viel Glück für dein Studium! Falls du Fragen hast, einfach fragen 😊

    What about in university of applied sciences? Do they focus more on the practical use of the skills? Hands on exercises?

      Hello My friend,
      yes, I'm currently studying at a "Hochschule" and I personally recommend to everyone to do the same, who already knows that hands - on learning is more suitable for them than the classical learning of theories.
      I also personally think that the later income is the same in the field of Business Information Systems, no matter if you have studied on a "Universität" or "Hochschule" since the demand is currently high for people with this type of knowledge.
      And the advantage of "Hochschulen" is that you will usually have smaller class rooms with about 30 people.
      I was for one day visiting a friend at Technische Universität Berlin (TU Berlin) once and I didn't liked the class feeling much. There were literally 500 people sitting in one module of the first semester and the huge Anonymity which comes with it, wasn't mine.

    • @secretnobody6460
      @secretnobody6460 11 місяців тому

      @@itbrezel 500 people?!! God damn. That is not a good place to learn comfortably. Now i see why they "weed out" most of the students in the 1st year of studies.
      Good thing for me i will be in a fachhochschule with only 30 students per class. ❤️ Very ideal for learning. And i really prefer hands on programs more than theoretical.
      By the way, what kind of projects do we have to make for our portfolio to showcase our skills?
      Do we need to really create a whole application or software or something like that? Can it be group projects also?. Im currently taking up google certificates to add to my profile, maybe employers like to see those certifications as well.
      What about you? Did you have to study by yourself to further develop your skills? Like taking coding courses in python, doing your own data analysis, certifications like COMPTIA? or AWS?
