Are you by chance mixing the dye with a thinner? What are the specs on the spray gun? Looking to attempt this process myself

Hey Ben, sorry just saw your comment. The dye is water based so you can thin it with water. I did not, but if I were to do it again I probably would thin it maybe 50/50. Most important thing is to spray very light coats. If you're starting from black leather that means it'll take a very long time and many many coats. Also, if starting from black leather, I'd probably recommend starting with a few white coats. I suspect it's a stronger dye than orange or red and would be easy to dye over to the desired color.
The spray gun I used was just a cheap one from Harbor Freight. I believe it was this one: www.harborfreight.com/120-cc-hvlp-touch-up-air-spray-gun-61473.html. Make sure to clean it after every use. I didn't do a great job of that and it would occasionally spray some splatter when it would clog up.
Good luck and let me know if you have any additional questions!

Could you please tell us the products you used to dye the leather? Will this process last for some years?? Thank you for your video!

Hey! Thanks for watching! I got all my dye from Leather World Technologies (leatherworldtech.com/). I specifically bought the deluxe kit and a top coat (leatherworldtech.com/deluxe-leather-repair-kit/ and leatherworldtech.com/top-coat/). I got them in "Satin - Low Gloss" for both of them.
I was told this dye should last years. After around 6 months, the leather still looks really good. The only issue I'm seeing is on the drivers seat bottom where there are a few cracks that are showing the original black leather. I think that's only happening because the cracks were "closed" when dyed over and due to sitting on the seat it opened it up a few times and now it's showing. I'm planning on filling it with Leather Filler and redying and top coating it and then I expect it to last a long time.

The New Mechanic Thank you so much! I was waiting for your reply! I want to dye the door panels and some parts on my seats. I would like to change colour from black to camel brown😉
If you can provide me any further advice or mistakes to avoid, i would be grateful!

Most important thing you can do is dye in VERY thin coats. It won't look like it made much of a color change the first coupe coats but you're setting the stage for a better texture and uniform color. I'd also consider starting with a white dye before laying down the camel brown dye - though I'm not sure if it's necessary or if it actually would help. Reach out to the guys at Leather World Tech and they'd be happy to give you some more and better recommendations. You can call them or email them (sales@leatherworldtech.com).... I should talk to them about a sponsorship haha

The New Mechanic Thank you again! Please email them and tell them that a guy from Greece will contact to them! Could you please tell me the proper pressure while dying and the nozzle diameter?

      @@mixlimantz I believe I sprayed at about 25psi and the gun I bought had a 0.8mm nozzle.
