  • This video is an extract from the AutoMate Fuel Pump Control Module Checks Diagnostic Training video.
Electronic module control has revolutionised the modern engine fuel delivery system by enabling more precise fuel control, better reliability and lower NVH levels.
This additional electronic control means diagnosing fuel delivery system faults require a blended approach of both mechanical and electrical checks to ensure accurate diagnosis.

Your videos said that the module is inside the pump that is inside the fuel tank. Is that correct on a 2014 F250 super duty King Ranch 4 x 4 with a 6.7 diesel ? I have a P0627 code, with a crank no start situation, and getting lots of different diagnosis from different people on this one . Need help please. I am broke and have been broke down for 3 months now, as I had 13 codes to begin with and I'm down to one.

Are all car mount with this kind of device?

Many of you missed the point. Instead of just running a pump full blast all the time and mechanically regulating to a desired output pressure (even though volume varies a lot with load), a PWM system uses a pulsed consistent voltage with a feedback loop from a pressure sensor to maintain the target pressure regardless of volume or flow, and to not over run the pump too much.

So this is why my Cadillac Escalade ESV with 21000 miles is in the shop waiting for this module over a month. Stranded us on the side of a highway. These new vehicles go no where when these go out. I understand that.

@@ralemc1960 logistics could be the cause of the delay - but yes, everything is integrated and expected to work a certain way. If you have an actual hardware failure, then it must be replaced. Here's the thing though, because it's a computer module we tend to thing of it as different than if it were just a fuel pump. But you'll probably never have to replace a fuel pump... Or any of the other PWM motors in that thing. The reality is despite all the insane integration of technology, the hard mechanical components are going to run for a very very long time with good maintenance. Use the correct fluids, reasonable intervals etc and 300k isn't even a big deal anymore

from what I understand that if my module is damaged could be the reason 4 burning too much fuel?

No. If module is damaged you engine won't run (no fuel pressure).

      1) check tire air pressure
      2) check your spark plugs and wires
      3) higher grade motor oil
      4) check your coil pack
      5) reset your truck computer (depends on your system's module complexity though) BMW's etc.
      6) ethanol Burns hotter and faster, Auto and lawn tools run harder and refueling 50 to 100 percent more. Now I run only non etho, regular unleaded. Fuel might be the real culprit.

Ours just stopped. It is over and done with until replaced. And the part has been ordered over a month at Parker Cadillac.
