Not contenders but a really good team. They’re too thin and small to really compete and Josh giddey isn’t a great fit. He’s mostly struggled this year.
In the playoffs, you have to figure on beating the Nuggets, Clippers, Pelicans, Mavs and/or Timberwolves 4 times in a row, in order to get to the finals... OKC doesn't really have the defensive muscle or the size right now for a grind out match up, but it does have talent & a strong defensive mindset, so the team needs some tweaks...
Great video! The action with dort and micic heading on opposite directions on the weakside while a drive is set up is a real calling card of the thunder. It gets overloads defenders forcing them to think about switching or following the weakside action while also thinking about a drive. They used it to great effect against denver and brooklyn.
OKC does not need to make a trade this season. Would love to see them finish this season out with the current squad because I think they can go far, and they're somehow still ahead of schedule on the "rebuild"
I totally agree. OKC needs to continue to develop and give reps to these young guys and let them see what the playoffs feel like. Maybe next season they could make a trade for a nice player to push them to a real contending level.
Another great vid! OKC has turned into one of my favorite teams to watch this season. They have such good synergy for a relatively young team and it makes their games fun to watch.
@@xoirvinnno. They have Chet. He’s young and has all nba potential. They can either draft or trade. They are in a great place even if they don’t win the chip
They need some rebounding help. Minnesota and Denver will eat them alive on the glass in a 7game series. They should really call Orlando who have a surplus or go after drummond
I'm consistently impressed by the level of your basketball IQ then comparing to mine (which I thought I knew what I was talking about at least better than average....) then there's your videos. Haha love it sir !!!!!!
I think this season OKC are longshot Finals contenders but not Championship contenders (emphasis on THIS season) Experience plays a huge role in a postseason run, and this core has yet to win even a single series (they look poised to win 1-3 series this year though) My Celtics faltered in '22 against the experienced Dubs despite a crazy postseason run (KD/Kyrie Nets, Defending Champion Bucks, #1 seed Heat), and that core (JT, JB, Smart) had already made 2 conference finals - in '18 and '20. Ending up as the best squad out of 30 and earning your hardware is obviously very tough to do. It took Jokic and Giannis several deep pushes to finally get over the hump and get their ring. I hope the Thunder make a deep playoff push this year and get some experience, and then sky's the limit for them. SGA's game is fun to watch, Chet is a dynamic rookie and gives OKC a weapon to counter the Wembanyama's/Porzingis'/other 7' shooting bigs of the league, and they play tough defense SGA is 25, Dort 24, Joe 24, Williams 22, Holmgren 21??? That's a ridiculous core of young players Best of luck to y'all as you go
I'm a Bulls fan who wants to see our team torn down to start a rebuild.. So maybe I'm biased towards this trade because it would bring the Bulls closer to going the in the direction I want them to...but...I really like OKC's team and think this trade would help both teams out immensely. Instead of going after Lauri...which will be pretty costly.. What if they traded Bertans for Vucevic? It'd let Chet slide into the 4 position and OKC is one of the few teams who could survive their Center providing little rim protection. Thunder would have to throw in a pick or two but they can't even use all their picks anyway. My Bulls are walking away happy because they are getting real assets back for Vuc. Thunder are happy because he fixes a lot of their problems AND they get to get off Bertan's bad contract.
I would not trade away anyone in the top 10 of the lineup They have plenty of great draft picks also.. use the picks and someone not getting playing time to get a rebounder! Rebounding on offense and defense are the only problems okc really has at the moment! I definitely wouldn’t trade anyone in the lineup These guys are jam up ball players! Very intelligent for being so young They are the best team in the years to come I believe Chet should win rookie of the year and shai should be the mvp Jdubb should get something 😂 he’s awesome too ✊🏼✊🏼✊🏼💪🏼💪🏼
how did they pick apart the c's wolves and nuggets but couldn't get a lead on the hawks 😭😭😭 ima just blame it on he back to back nights lol they couldn't stop turning the ball over but I love my thunder they're up now lets gooo #thunderup
A lot of talk about possible championship runs (for several teams), but one of the most important measures for any contender is wins against 500+ teams, coz ain't no under 500s getting to the finals . . . Of the 7 teams with winning records against 500+ teams, OKC is #6 - Celtics, 14-5 (0.737); Pelicans, 12-6 (0.677); Timberwolves, 13-7 (0.650); Bucks/Clippers, 11-7 (0.611); then Thunder, 10-7 (0.588), and finally Pacers, 11-8 (0.579). Surprisingly, the current champs, the Nuggets, are 8-11 (0.471). - If OKC is serious about a chip this year, they have to get past 500+ teams more consistently, especially in the West.
I think they should keep their guys a trade might mess everything up if someone had to go I would say giddy and picks keep your young core man learn from your old mistakes okc
I feel like the OKC if they are lucky could easily win a chip. -meaning if they one up against teams that had their 2nd or 3rd man injured during the playoffs and come up against them. But against the best teams when fully healthy, I feel like they are missing something. -like if they come up against the Nuggets and the nuggets are fully healthy, almost no team is beating them. But if their 2nd or 3rd man is out and they are playing against just jokic. Then they could beat them.
Josh Giddey, Bertans, trae mann and 4 first round picks. Go win a championship this year. They could pay Lauri an extension since they wont have to pay giddey or bertans 17 mil a year. nows the time to have 2 big contracts cause in a few years youre gonna have to pay chet and dub.
Are the Thunder contenders as currently constructed or do they need to make a trade? If so, who should they trade for? 👇
Not contenders but a really good team. They’re too thin and small to really compete and Josh giddey isn’t a great fit. He’s mostly struggled this year.
we need size and rebounding but versatility so a smallball sf/pf that we can put on bigs

Trade up in draft day, or trade now for star

Trade for Anthony Davis

I find it very interesting how Chet baits the opposite with his hands before he sets a Screen. For Example 6:04 or 6:13.
Great video man! The visuals and text help a lot when describing the plays

Great work here! The Thunder have a great chance for a Chip this year.
This may just be the year 🎉
Doritos?
we're contenders right now
Our halfcourt and ISO offence metrics makes me optimistic about our chances in the playoffs
No block buster trade needed IMO
Chet + Dub + Joe and also let's not forget Chip changed the whole team. Feels good being an OKC fan!
Thunder’s lack of size and rebounding is their problem.

Maybe a larger package or multiteam deal with Demar coming to Thunder as well.
