- Here is a video describing how to vinyl wrap the chrome on a Tesla Model S. I am in NO WAY an expert in wrapping, this is simply a knowledge dump of what I learned from my 25 hours wrapping my car. Ask absolutely any questions you have! Many of the specific wrapping tips I include here come straight from CK Wraps. Follow and watch him for much better technique tutorials.
The trim pieces include:
- Front Emblem
- Front trim
- Bottom grill slits
- Side markers
- Under door trim
- Under window trim
- Above window trim
- Mirror support
- Rear emblem
- Rear trunk trim
I also wrapped the interior trim pieces:
- Left of steering wheel
- Right of steering wheel
- Passenger trim above glove box
- Slide door in center console
- Cup holder trim in the console

Wow, not only the result, but also the presentation is impressive!
The mirrors are what would scare me…
GREAT video, the mirror part is super difficult and I was going to leave it out. Glad I came across this video, now I have a better idea on that, thanks man!
No problem! Good luck!
Would love to see a video when you re-wrap that one door handle. Good video man
Thanks buddy! I might just do that.
Kerrenton Snow I look forward to it! I just ordered vinyl wrap for the handles and bottom door trim myself
super detailed video with a bunch of helpful info.
Hey I had chrome delete done on my car recently and you did a really good job because I just had mine done and it has a lot of overlaps where ends are sticking out especially around the mirror and doors and in between door and even the front areas. They told me it’s suppose to be like that. That can’t be true because yours looks so much more flawless. Can I show you some pics of my car to see if you noticed a problem in those areas?
Yeah absolutely! I'd love to check it out.
Great video! good work.
Thank you!
Hey man I'm actually doing a chrome delete on a tesla model s as we speak and was wondering if you knew what size torque is under the mirror cap?
I think it's a T10! Look in the video description, I have that listed as mirror trim removal. I couldn't remember off the top of my head.
good job
Great Vid. Nice
Thanks!
you said you used 5' X 10' to wrap what you did. how much more do you think should be ordered to cover the nose cone and ring?
I could have easily covered the nose cone and ring with how much I had left over.
@@kpsnow2411 well i guess i over ordered. Guess too much is better than not enough
Nice video. I have roughly the same car with wood interior....can you recommend anyone in the VA or MD area who can do this for $$
Can you share the link to your spoiler
Its just the stock spoiler! Just with vinyl wrap.
did you have any issues wrapping the bottom front window trim with the mirror in the way? You didn't remove any of the actual trim from the body right?
The window trim doesn't go under the mirror! It stops before the mirror assembly begins. Yes, I kept all the pieces on the car. The only piece I disassembled was the bottom half of the mirror (underside chrome part).
Another question about the masking tape, so my understanding is that if I use the knife in the gap to cut, that's not enough extra to fold over/under it. So having the tape would make me comfortable to cut 1/4 inch extra (and not worry about damaging paint), then can wrap the edge over. Is that how you did it?
Yes and no. When you don't use masking tape, you can tuck the vinyl into gaps using a squeegee thinking that you are actually tucking extra material into the gap when in reality you're STRETCHING the vinyl into the gap. The difference is that when you post heat the vinyl after you trimmed it, the vinyl will return back to it's non stretched size and you run the risk of peal back or showing chrome. Hopefully that makes sense. When you use masking tape, the vinyl won't stick and is forced to push into the gap, not stretch.
@@kpsnow2411 Thanks for the further explanation! So I guess what I should do is: 1. apply the tape to reduce stickiness around the edge; 2. tuck/stretch extra material into the gap; 3. heat and seal the deal; 4. last cut it? Or do is it better to cut extra first (so will have room even if shrink a bit), then tuck into the gap?
Do both. Tape, Tuck, heat, cut, heat.
Can you tell me how much vinyl wrap is needed? Was the 5 x 10 feet roll all you needed to wrap the entire car for chrome delete?
Yes! that is plenty.
Hi there! Thinking about doing this to my new S. How has the chrome delete held up since you did it?
Hey! Good question. It's help up great! It's only pealed up a little on the trim piece right below the mirror. Going on 2 years, I'm very happy.
Thanks for following up!!!
