Watch the plasti dip chrome delete video Fonzi from Plastidip made. He shows how to do this the right way. You need to leave a gap between the chrome and the tape so it doesn’t peel when tape is removed.
Good project, make your life easier next time and peel the tape off when the dip is wet thats how its usually done. Will prevent you from runinng a sharp blade on your vehicle...
if you use glossifier do you just treat the glossifier as your wet layer before peeling? I.e. 4 layers of black followed by 2 layers of glossifier and then immediately peel the tape back for sharp edges?
Thanks for the video, very informative! One question about the mirror folding too, so you let them fold out and spray, then wait for once dried, foind in again and spray the missing spots? Any problems at where it joins? Or need to apply while last coat still wet?
Siqi Tian thanks for the comments. Yes we sprayed them with them golden in then sprayed them folded out and it was raining outside and the paint ripped right off. We had to do them twice and after doing that it stuck.
This is wrong. You leave about a 1/2 inch gap on the paint side, you don't tape right against the edge like you do in your house when painting trim etc. When you pull it away it will split perfectly right along and edge with no need of an exacto knife.
J K the black one is my buddy’s and he ended up wrapping the whole car in white and doing all the trim in carbon fiber wrap. That was about 3 months in. For temp use dip. For long term I recommend wrapping. Huge price difference though.
Hi well been following all you UA-camrs about Plastic Dip And today I finally finished my mini clubman all the crome and because I had Lot's of masking tape glue on the mini I reached out for my Tar and glue remover and sprayed it only to fined out that it Melted the plasti dip,so what is the point off this stuff, any comment Please. Will not buy this again,I have now got to take it all off Thanks a lot Plasti dip👿👿👿👿👿👿👿👿
Wendy Cartmell yea this is my buddies car it lasted about a week. He took all of it off, and he got a full body wrap and all the trim done. Looked good for a few days. Maybe you should have used painters tape?
Oh god, please don’t tell me you did the wheels too. You took away too much contrast as it is. The batmobile wannabe fad is thankfully almost over. All you’ve done is made yourself look immature.

Taping off the car that well defeats the beauty of plastic dip. Might as well have spray painted the chrome. Results would have been better.
And that's how you don't plasti dip chrome ;)
🤣🤣
