All the tornado videos I've seen, and this video had the best, loudest sound of just the tornado to date!! I started watching tornado videos when Reed and his team were on the Discovery Channel.. That show got me hooked.. Really quality footage here guy's.. I don't know how I haven't seen this before now.. 🌪️🤗🌪️
Thank you for your kind words. You probably haven't seen it cause I'm just another okie with a camera on his front porch. While I've been chasing several times, been closer to one much smaller, nearly blown off the road by RFDs. But nothing has been as memorizing as this one. Probably because we knew it was going through such a populated area. BTW, I believe I've watched every episode of storm chasers myself. Stay safe out there!
Incredible footage. I guess that you filmed this from right over on the South West edge of the city almost by the lakes. It's very unique and clear film of it's final phase as it roped out.
This is the first video of a tornado that I could actually here it without rain, hail, rfd winds or siren's.. It is so far away and we can really hear it.. Great catch! Thank goodness you were safe! 🤗
Hello JevVan72, is it possible to contact you regarding this video (i.e. via email)? We would be interested to discuss a license to use this video if this is generally possible to discuss? :) Cheers, Felix
Good footage. The clouds right above the guy looked more menacing than the others. I’m a trained spotter and hobby chaser. I wish that old wives tale “Tornadoes sound like freight trains” would cease. They absolutely don’t. They sound like what they are; huge, powerful wind tunnels. The big ones roar.
Crazy how quiet it got when it roped out even from a good distance away it’s like the wind just stopped to give us some peace after what it had just done.. I was hunkered down a mile away from this thing and wish I could have seen it but I was stuffed into a school bathroom. I got lucky.
I've watched a lot of the videos of the Moore tornado and other tornadoes and I have never seen a tornado rope out. It was very interesting. And I'm sure it was a great relief for the residents of Moore. Most chasers watch the storms and call the beginning of a tornado the "birth" of the tornado I'm wondering if they use the term the"death" of the tornado when it ropes out?
I live in Oregon but I've watched several videos of the tornado that hit moor and all I can say is I hope to God that all u filming that monster survived.
This tornado was incredibly loud, to say the least, even from considerable distances you can clearly hear the tornado's roar. Tuscaloosa and 91 Andover KS are other examples of twisters producing a deafening roar.
They all do, but there is no doubt that when a violent tornado travels through residential neighbourhoods, the sound is even more obvious and unforgetable. FWIW, I know an extremely experienced storm chaser & highly educated severe weather researcher who has witnessed many F-4/F-5/EF-4/EF-5 tornadoes. He told me that this tornado was the ugliest-sounding tornado he had ever heard. He found both the view of the tornado obliterating parts of Moore & its sound to be very disturbing, rather than awe-inspiring.
@@derekbaker3279 It was a very ugly-sounding twister indeed and from a distance it almost looks like a smoke cloud. I cannot even imagine what one of these things sound like up close.
@@derekbaker3279 Another really ugly-sounding tornado was the Jarrell twister. Not too surprising considering how violent it was, but in the small amount of footage that exists of the Jarrell tornado up close, it does not sound like a freight train. It sounds like a continuous amount of TNT and other high-caliber explosives detonating non-stop.
Yea the 99 one had the craziest wind turbine sound One video a guy set the camera down to hide and you can't see it well but you can hear it better than professional footage, has a waterfall like sound mixed with a turbine
Ever notice how you never see any episodes of "Antiques Road Show" filmed in Oklahoma? That's because nothing ever lasts long enough to become an antique, what with all the tornadoes.
Lol. When I visited Edmond Oklahoma back in 1993, I was shocked how new and uppity it looked. Oklahoma was a beautiful state, but was very cheap to live back then.. my girlfriend at the time said, "yeah, everything looks new because they keep having to rebuild".. seeing your comment just brought a flashback from 1993 so I had to laugh. In reality, Oklahoma just takes better care of their state and appearance. Missouri has tornadoes as well, but the State isn't anywhere as nice and kept up like I saw in Oklahoma.
There is tons of footage of this monster at EF5 strength, but I believe this is the only video I've seen of it roping out. This must have been an incredible relief.
Hi Johan. 😀 Ben Holcomb & several other chasers caught this 'Moore Monster' roping out, so do a search on YT for them. 👍👍 (BTW, could 'Mother Nature' be any more 'cruel' than forming a killer EF-5 tornado just outside Moore city limits, crossing through almost the widest part of the Moore, then roping out just after it left city limits?! 🙄😬 )
