Out of all the video's on here showing how to change those bearings, only yours shows you have to fit TWO bearing races to each strut top donut. The others only ever show ONE on each side being replaced. Also, they have to be the correct way round too on fitting otherwise, like me, I've gotta do it again (to replace the more likely buggered new one &, fit the missing top ones....doh!
Thanks for the response. I assume they are 18 inch. Are the tyres you have fitted standard car tyres or reinforced commercial? There are a set locally for sale but no tyres so need to price some up
Sorry to be a complete pain In the wotsit but how did you get on with the 2 different (staggered) widths or are yours the same width front and rear? I appreciate you responding to my questions massively. Thank you.
@@djjphin I took them to my local tyre man who matched up the rolling diameters. Can't remember the sizes now. My current Trafic I managed to get the same size wheels and matching tyres.
Dont have to remove all parts from bottom of strut , just 2 bolts that hold strut to hub carrier undo droplink then top nut
I need to do top mount drivers side on my 2014 vivaro, thanks for sharing 👍
Not too bad a job to do
never grip the shock absorber shaft with mole grips that low down, as it will damage the seal..
I always ensure I back track rod nuts off before pulling it out of the hub. It’s far sturdier then.
That was a great watch!
👍
you didn't have to remove the hub and track rod end to do the top mount , just undo the lower strut bolts and the drop link and pull it out
You're quite right. I forgot to point out that my shocker was knackered too and needed replaced.
P.S. I also love to rub down and paint everything at the same time :D
Ive got mine to do on the Viv... knocking away like mad so its the next job on the list

Excellent job. 👌🏻
Good video very helpful thanks
Great thanks 👍
What’s the paint you use for the Callipers mate? I’d be very interested in doing this myself, thanks
To be honest, I just prime and paint them with Halfords Zinc primer and wheel silver as they are not on a performance vehicle.
I find the abs sensor so fragile, I can’t stand the orange light of death so I’ve learnt the hard way to keep one on standby.
They are but are easily replaced thank goodness!
Thank you.
Is that Wastwater where your van is parked at the end?
Corrieshalloch Gorge Viewpoint just off the road to Ullapool in the Scottish Highlands (had to look that one up! 😄)
@@garageofdad 😂👍 oh..ive actually been there also! Thanks for the vid mate. Keep well
Off topic but what alloys did you get to fit the van? Were they for a different vehicle or specifically Renault trafic?
They are BMW MV1 alloys but you need to use what are called wobble bolts and tighten them up progressively as the PCD is 2mm out.

Great video I wish I could do it 🤣
You put a new track rod end on not track control arm.
Forgive me, but it's a Renault Trafic, not a Renault Traffic.
You know you're right! Never picked up on that. Maybe because I'm Dyslexic :(
What a load of unnecessary work just to do the strut tops.
I'm no expert just a guy doing what he can with the tools that I've got!! 😄
