I predicted most of Team A was going to die based on how little focus they got in the marketing although Boomer dying and Weasel making it were surprises. I was actually more surprised so much of Team B survived, I thought either Bloodsport or Rat Catcher would die protecting the other
I figured Savant wouldn’t make it because of the rest of the cast making fun of him during DC Fandome.
Still dissapointed by polka dot mans death tho

Not going to lie I didn't even see the team A and team B plot lol I thought the first team was going to go in as a failure and then team b would be introduced later on

Well Boomerang was already in the first Suicide Squad movie and wasn't a main character so I understand why Gunn killed him off

a bit surprised by that one, with Margot Robbie apparently wanting to take a break from Harley Quinn he would be the only, and most logical, character to carry on if they wanted to do another sequel, I mean the whole premise of Suicide Squad was that the villains are basically expendable and rick Flag was their handler, so easy enough justification to have multiple movies with basically him as the only reoccurring character

Yes milton is real.. he can be seen in the trailers with the team. He was the bald guy when rick flag and blood sport were talking to the thinker. Also he was the driver and ally to the team before his death. And no milton didn't survive harley called bloodsport milton at the end of the film because she thought he was milton

I actually felt sad when Starro died, I know in the comics he's evil but in this movie he was literally minding his own business, gets kidnapped, tortured, and later horrifically killed. "I was happy, floating, staring at the stars" really hit me.
In Batman Beyond, the Starros are fought by the Justice League, who then send him to another planet once Aquagirl reads their minds, in case you want a happy ending.
Rught, I mean to be honest? I know this sounds like an unfair comparison but-
When I sorta first saw Starro in other DC media before this movie?
He did sorta reminded me of Patrick from Spongebob alittle since they're both starfish but in different sizes and all😅
Rick Flag, Cap. Boomerang, Polka Dot Man, and Javelin all had really sad deaths.

When the opening credits were playing it said Critically injured for him and he was coughing up blood show he was not dead then just suffering

One Important thing that made the suicide squad good was the self-irony which the 2016 version was lacking off

Yeah the only people that die in the original was slipknot that since he barelly have an introduction he Was basicly canon meat. And diablo that was a little too heroic to be ironic. Say whatever you want about polkadot but most of the Time 80% of soldier in battle die with a stupid unexpected death than with an actual heroic sacrifice.

Even though they're supposedly awful people and being villains and all, it's still kinda sad seeing the first team getting decimated at the beach. Something about the Belle Reve people betting on them dying and being expendables while the camera gleefully make fun of their lifeless bodies are so hilariously upsetting.
Let's be real,some of us would have done this in real life
I knew most of almost all of them were going to die based on that one frame of Bloodsport shooting at Starro, almost everyone including Rick flag and peacemaker weren’t present, and it was obvious that it was gonna be the finale fight of the movie. And I when I saw the “I’m a superhero!!” part in the trailer I knew polka dot man was dying the way he did in the movie

Yea, that kind of surprised me. I mean she is a sister of mongul. He is kind of a bid deal. It like if in marvel thanos had a sister .
Earth is going to be in so much trouble when Mongul learns her died like that way.
When you think about it, a lot of the squad members were either getting each other killed or almost getting each other killed.
-Blackguard basically got everyone from team 1 killed by selling them out
- Mongal accidentally killed Captain Boomerang
- King Shark almost killed Ratcatcher2
- Rick Flag got Milton killed😂
- Peacemaker killed Rick Flag
-Peacemaker also almost killed Ratcatcher2
-Bloodsport damn near killed Peacemaker
-Bloodsport got Polka Dot Man killed

I don't think Bloodsport really got PDM killed tbh. His only real part in that was unintentionally making PDM a target by motivating him, and being the person PDM focused on instead of Starro, and neither of those were really Bloodsport getting him killed imo.

I love the first thing the _original team_ did was... a suicide mission for distraction XD

I liked that too, with the exception of Flag, Waller picked all the assholes with lame abilities that couldn't hope to go toe to toe with any sort of trained soldiers
Yet Harley survived it all
They weren't a distraction. Waller just sent two teams, and one just happened to have a traitor. Waller is not stupid enough to put flagg in the team that was supposed to be a distraction.
This is why James Gunn said, "don't get too attached'.
One of my only complaints about the movie was the deaths. They advertised it as "anyone can die at any moment", but really it was just "we'll kill half the cast in the opening scene and then a few others in the finale". I think they should have sprinkled them throughout the movie.
@Om Patel Eh I kinda do agree with him. While yes I don't really have much issues with the first team just dying in the first half and only a few dying in the finale, I think it would be nice to see the deaths more sprinkled out throughout the movie, just so thst we can see a bit more of the other characters and learn a bit about them besides the main team before they're killed.
Also while everyone knows that it wouldn't happen, imagine if Harley Quinn actually got killed during the movie. I think that would be a huge surprise for everyone who watched the movie to see. It would also drive the point that anyone can die at any moment to a T.
Also no I don't hate Harley, I actually enjoyed the moments she was in and was a fun character, but it would make for a shocking surprise for those who watched the movie.
@@deadbeatnetwork9792 the problem with learning more about them is the fact that it won't matter because that person's gonna die either way. It adds more unnecessarily adds to the runtime which makes it boring and pointless. Take Crimes of Grindelwald for example: they spend so much (and I do mean A LOT) time giving her backstory and building her up and going through flashbacks for a secondary character and they end up killing her off at the end. So what was the point? All of those scenes and sitting through them didn't matter if they're a secondary character and just gonna die at the end. In doing this, they have them as not only a gag but also showing that ANYBODY could die even if they're from the first movie. With the focus of the other group, we actually built in our focus for them and actually wanted to know more about them, that way when they did die, it actually hurt. Character development doesn't work if you're treating your characters like the victims of a slasher horror flick, which is basically what you're asking for but with unnecessary character backstory for each of those making the movie longer.

It would feel a bit out of focus, and a lot of these characters are D-List criminals anyways, so I guess it would make sense that they'd die unceremoniously, since no one's gonna miss them that much (aside from Captain Boomerang of course, since he's an OG). Also, I wasn't asking for a whole exploration of every single character's backstory, something simple like seeing some of them hang around in the movie a little longer throughout the movie would be nice, but again I do see your point, as we'd probably not have enough time to learn about them, and at the end their purpose is just to be disposable fodder for Waller to use for her missions.
Wasn't expecting that boomerang and flag was going to die.... But the scene where they show flag's heart.... Thought javelin could do something better but nope

As crazy as it sounds, I wanted polka dot man to survive along with captain boomerang. I hope the flash movie changes this as they're going with the flashpoint storyline.
Or maybe they would revive them as zombies in blackest nignt.
In comics it was when black lantern apeared its the lantern of death so basilcly all dead heros and villians got revived and fought as zombies with the black lantern power.
Also some of the got revived for real at the end. So it might be very cool if they would do that.

Bit of a conspiracy theory here, but I reckon Rick survived being “stabbed in the heart”. He’s just too much of a great character for them to kill off, same as peacemaker. Then again, they killed off Harkness so that detracts credence.

It's was a weird choice to show in detail how Flag gets stabbed right in heart. There is 3 posdible explanations i see: 1) either they wanted to hit home the idea that he is DEAD and gone, with no possibility to survive.
2) Or was it to mislead the viewers to think this way, and they will find the way to ressurect him. Remember in this universe you've got magic, aliens and super scientists
3) it was just a stylistic choice, and i am overthinking it

Weasel is like Scratch from Ice Age: not even the most hideous injuries can kill him.
One detail I liked about how flag was killed was that we saw his heart actually get punctured. Showing the audience that there was no way he was coming back unlike Peacemaker who I honestly thought was going to get a bullet between the eyes but got shot in the neck instead.

Weasel's actually super lucky he didn't know how to swim or else he would have been shot down along with the rest of team A. I'm so glad James Gunn spared the weasel.

I kinda hate Mongal and Blackguard because Boomerang basically died because of them. I mean he got out of his cover to try and stop Blackguard which exposed him, and he died because Mongal attacked that helicopter :(
TDK has the ability to regrow his Limbs, we only see his arms getting shot to hell. So it is reasonable to believe that he did survive.

There is no tdk in the comics. There is arm fall-off boy but his is not a villian but a hero in the far far future as a memeber of legion of superheros

James Gunn used mostly obscure villain characters but he is not opposed to using DC character classified as good. James Gunn used TDK because he was obscure.

This is the worst commen I've read in a long time
Not many people notice but there's actually a third member who's "not exactly dead" potentially. TDK, he's never shown to be dead, and while everyone else's photo goes red his stays white and then later when you see his status it just says "critical condition" and when they pan over him he's just coughing up blood, not dead yet, not even unconscious. None of this means TDK is alive by the end of the movie, but I feel like it's too many coincidences for it to just be "oh yeah he died offscreen"
I was so sad for Boomerang and Rick Flag, but I cant get over how they did Polka Dot man.
Was waaaaaaay too late in the movie for comedy like that...kill him off sure, but not as a joke.

At first I was pretty sure Polkadotman was going to die because weird niche villain, then the character grew on me, then was surprised and sad when he splat. You will be remembered Polkadotman.

Watching Captain Boomerang die was tragically sad.
Watching Mongal die was kind of horrific.
Watching Rick Flag die was heartbreaking.
Watching Blackguard get his face blasted off was brutal but somewhat satisfying.
And....watching Polka Dot Man die in just the most abrupt way ever made me angry.
But....I guess we weren't supposed to be attached to these characters. Fuck.

I suppose I'm not the only one who though Savant was the main character till he got his brain "boom"d
It's just a subtle thing but the shot of Harley shouting 'Boomer!' moving towards her which then cuts to the reverse shot of Boomer which is then moving away from him - really helps keep the momentum going and makes a simple shot-reverse-shot more interesting
TDK has recently been hinted to survive. Apparently Gunn said that there was at least one more member from the beach that survived and well, the last thing we know is that he’s in critical condition
The one member was weasel because literally at the end of the movie it shows weasel hacking up water and waking up and then he runs away
When Boomer dies he just shrugs his shoulders and smiles like hes saying There was nothing I could do

Mongal is the number one character who not only could never be a member of The Suicide Squad, but had no purpose in the film as a member of The Suicide Squad at all because that raises way too many questions

Why? The whole point of showing him as the original POV character is to so that you see everyone get slaughtered through his eyes, he runs away, and he runs away because we need Amanda Waller to kill someone.

Polkadot man and Flag were pretty sad. But seeing Pete Davidsons face blown off was pretty awesome. I feel like life owed me that. Thanks James Gun. Also Ratcater 2 is currently my fav superhero. I hope she makes it into the Marvel Universe someday. For her sake.

I loved every part of this film except from how polka dot man died. There was no reason to kill him off and if he had to die it could have been in a better way
I love the realistic depiction of what would likely actually happen if people like this actually ended up in an active war zone. Yeah some of them have super powers, but unless your superpower is literally being bulletproof it's not really going to stop you from being blown away is it.
