- If you’ve watched my online forum posts or seen the Instagram pictures you already know about the 20” custom Sissy bar I ordered from Dean Speed. This video took awhile to post due to me being busy riding and working and adulting.
This is a quality product and I think looks great on my 2020 Indian Scout Bobber Twenty. You may have seen other installs but this one answers the question of if you can install these with the Indian Bobber saddlebag and how that install is different (spoiler alert… just some longer bolts) and if it works and looks good.
Thanks to Mykah for his work on this and thanks for the great customer service. I highly recommend his products and will be installing more on my build. The only tool I used on this install was a ratchet with a 6mm allen head and some extensions.
I’m also providing links below to the parts I’ve installed on my bike. The procedure is pretty easy and outlined in this video.

I have been searching for EXACTLY this install as I’m looking at dean Speed sissy and Indian saddle bag. Furthermore I needed to know how the 20” looked on the bobber twenty (my bike) so this was the perfect helpful video!
Thanks!
Thanks. I hope you subscribe as I have more content coming.
Cheers for explaining how to get the saddlebag on as well, and providing a link to the appropriate bolts, no other tuber has done this. Much appreciated, liked and subbed
Thank you for actually explaining the saddlebag side and adding the bolts needed in the description! So helpful.
Definitely subscribed now
Thanks for watching. I'm glad it helped. I'll be making more content as the weather breaks and some backordered parts come in.
This video saved me a lot of hassle trying to find those bolts! Thank!!!!!!
great video and really excellent you are explanations of the assembly of the Sissy Bar ... :) I also just received my Sissy Bar from Dean Speed and I will install it in a few days. For my Indian OEM saddlebag I will also keep it for a while while waiting later to replace them with "End Cuoio" saddlebags.
Thanks so much for the great info and link for the screws!! Will the viking solo saddlebag work with piggyback shocks ? Please let me know . Love your content. Just got my Scout 20.
I am not sure about the viking solo saddlebag working but I would suspect it may have an issue because I know the size and shape of the small indian bag doesn't work well with the piggyback shocks. Thanks for watching. I've got more content coming for this bike and others.
I ordered the Dean Speed viking solo bag so I guess we will have to see . Wish me luck . Thanks and post more , brother !
Hey man great video. Waiting on my sissy bar to get here. Any idea how long the spacers and bar bolt holes are? Need to figure out how much longer my bolts need to be.
Bolts and spacers come with the sissy bar. You only need to buy to ones in the video if you use a bag also. There is a link in the description for the bolts you need with the bag.
@@MessyGarageBMW Thanks for the reply. I have a different bag set up and need beveled head bolts for the brackets.
@@Rabbits_Midnight_Chronicles okay, I just ran out to my garage and measured. The spacers that come with the sissybar are 1/2 inch and the bolts included are 2 inches (plus heads). I'm not sure your exact setup so I don't know what to suggest or if this info helps at all.
@@MessyGarageBMW Yes this should be enough info. Now I can order the other style bolt heads. Thanks so much man I really appreciate it.
@@Rabbits_Midnight_Chronicles Glad to help. Thanks for watching.
Just started watching, I hope so much that you will be putting it on with the bag and explaining what technique you chose to combine them
Edit: Haha, you are! Omg bless, thank you, I couldn't find what the right bolt I needed was. You have no idea, thanks. My saddlebag has just been sat in a box since I installed the bar because I hadn't gotten to it. So you say 90mm is perfect? No longer nor shorter?
There is a link in the description for the bolts I used and they were perfect for the job.
@@MessyGarageBMW Cheers. Also, in regards to the pillion seat, I've got the touring pillion from Corbin on the way in the same black and brown colour way as the OEM pillion seat. We've got very similar looking bikes and I've gotten so much help from your channel. So if it helps for me to send a photo of what it looks like once that seat arrives and my partner's impressions, then I'll send it to you (fairly certain I've seen that you have a profile on the forums as well so can DM you there). Thanks once more, the bike looks so good.
Would love to hear your feedback and some pics on that pillion seat. I like the looks of the Indian seat but it is not comfortable for anyone that has been on the back of it. HMU on here, the forums, FB, or instagram I'd love to hear your impression. Thanks!
@@MessyGarageBMW sounds good, should be a couple weeks. best wishes to you and your family
Thanks for helpful video
I gonna buy the sissy bar and long bolts!
As far as I know, Dean Speed has two type sissy bar 'Wicked' and 'Classic'
Do you know what's difference of two models?
If so.. let me know
(Dean speed hasn't answered haha)
I think it is the bend at the top. Make sure you use the messygarage coupon code for a discount.
Hey MessyGarage, great video on how to install Dean Speed sissy bars as we all know they are a quality item, may I ask what shocks are you looking at installing?
On my short list are Ohlins, progressive 444, or an arnott air suspension. I haven't decided yet so any suggestions or pros/cons would be appreciated.
@@MessyGarageBMW Feel free to email me at sales@selectedge.com.au with any questions/advice on suspension for the scout/scout bobber. I am very familiar with the Ohlins and Arnott air options, whilst I love Ohlins they don't have the best overall shock length in the STX36 range for our bikes and the Arnott Air shocks don't have adjustable rebound which is a let down as some of there higher range do. I might be biased but Nitron have a fantastic option for the scout/scout bobber at www.selectedge.com.au/scout-scout-bobber-2014/
Wdf there’s was a Mythosaur skull option?? I only saw chief-skull i’m so confused??
I had it custom made.
@@MessyGarageBMW I had no clue they do custom 🤦♂️
@@blindblackdog2818 yep. They are pretty good to work with.
Hey, quick question... I have 2 short spacers and 2 long spacers. Can you advise which go in the front and which go in the back? Thanks.
I believe the longer spacer goes in the front. I can't tell exactly without removing it but look at the depth of the front and back indentations where the fender support attaches and you should be able to tell which hole is deeper.
@@MessyGarageBMW Thank you!
@@MessyGarageBMW Just an update, Dean Speed sent me the wrong sized spacers. They should all be identical in size.
Dig the Mythosaurs skull. Might have steal the idea.
If you order from Dean speed, you my coupon code of "messygarage" to get a discount. They do great work.
@@MessyGarageBMW thanks. I get my Bobber 60 in a week or so. Got the DS crash bars coming. Heard nothing but good things about DS. Excited.
@@Thatbobberlife I'll be posting my install of the DS crash bars soon. If you subscribe and click the notification bell you should get notified when it is published.
@@MessyGarageBMW done and done. Thanks.
What’s the best shocks for indian scout bobber 23 ? Thanks
I have a video of what I installed and am very happy with here.

How do you like that seat
Love it. I'm still running my 1920 solo seat even after I've gone fenderless
Hey. I used your video to prepare me for my sissy bar install. So, thank you. Did you end up keeping the spacers on the bag the same length or did you cut them? I couldn’t really tell in the video how far it sticks out in relation to the pipes.
I decided to not cut them. It doesn't stick out so much that it looks bad in my opinion and it doesn't interfere with the passenger or anything. I prefer to keep it like that in case I go with another bag in the future and want to sell the exiting Indian bag.
Thanks for watching and please subscribe, I've got more videos coming.
Brother where did you get the driver pegs.
They are Indian billet pegs. Have them for rider and passenger and they match the shift pegs. Indian discontinued them for some reason. They are awesome though if you can find them.
What's the difference between the WICKED sissy bar and the CLASSIC sissy bar?
I believe it is the bend style.
Hey there…..what license plate is that? Where did u buy it??
I took a hack saw and cut the existing stock one down and mounted the plate vertically with a back plate. Cost me nothing 😀
@@MessyGarageBMW awesome…..fan of you channel
@@bobberboss Thanks! I'm glad people are watching.
I ordered the bolts M8 1.25x20 and they are to small. Are these the right ones?
I'm sorry, that should've been a link to m8 1.25 x 90 but the link doesn't even have that option anymore. I need to fix that I apologize.
Try this one instead amzn.to/3s6Pmdj
Great that looks more like it. Thanks man!!
Nice Indian bro
@waylow5323 thanks. It has been a great bike
I don't like there's no pad on the bar
