I always bid on an upgrade with AC. I’ve been successful in getting an upgrade to premium economy many times. And also in getting an upgrade from premium economy to signature class. I’ve paid an additional $400 for PE upgrade, and $1000 for an upgrade to signature class. It might sound a lot, but to purchase a signature class seat at regular price can cost as much as $4000 one way (Vancouver to London). So I think it’s a pretty good deal. I’ve found that you need to bid at least 50% of the maximum bid option. But all in all, you can pick up an upgrade for far less than you’d pay for a regular PE or Signature class ticket.
This is great advice! I always wonder how much we need to bid because we always lose. Or the flight is ALWAYS sold out anyway. That happened on both of our Japan flights. Not a single seat was open during bidding - we were going to try to upgrade to biz class
I’m so happy you put out this review as it gives me a better insight as to what is to be expected for when I fly in premium economy soon with Air Canada, based on you’re review I believe I’ll definitely get my moneys worth from this up coming flight so thank you!
@@pandytravels Hello, it’s been more then 2 weeks since I’ve flown on Air Canada premium economy from Toronto to Frankfurt for the first time, my over all thought about the seat was quite good to say the least, I loved how much space I had for storage as well as the generous recline I had, I also appreciate the little amenity kit and hot towel provided on board, when it came down to food, I thought it was mediocre not the best, but not horrible either, over all I say my flight went pretty well however, if there’s one criticism I can give to Air Canada it would be to invest in there catering, all in all I paid $1800 cad for this trip, I would definitely fly in premium economy again!
I have flown on Air Canada since it was TCA (I own a TCA flight bag) and have always found the Air Canada employee is either very nice, professional and friendly or in a bad day, snappy state of mind. Never in between
lol that has been our experience as well. Sometimes trips have the best service and other trips it’s like we’re inconveniencing them by being on the flight 😂. Love that you have a TCA bag!
That was a really good review of Air Canada, the actual product isn't bad. The crew that are delivering the product manage to turn it into complete garbage.
First time I flew was this past Sept to Warsaw on a trip with my wife. I work for Lufthansa so business class was 510CAD each round trip and it was awesome. Only catch its standby so I have to pick flights on med to low season. We got on all of our flights tho.
104k points?!? That is a fantastic deal. Holy moly. I’ve been pricing it out on AP and the best I ever see is in the 175 per person range… as we need three tix I’ve resigned myself to economy… how far ahead did you book?
Oh no! I think flight prices are going up again because of the pilot strike. We booked about 8 months in advance and went during an off season (September). We are fortunate enough to be fairly flexible in when we travel. When are you looking to go?
Weve flown to cancun, and back, from toronto every year for the past year, business class. And its amazing. The staff have been great. Its a tough job!!! Very tight. No humidity, your dryed out. I think there angels!!!!! Your safety is a concern and they have alot of ppl to take care of. We had crazy turbulence coming back last hear but because flight was delayed they kept serving i cldnt believe it. Give these ppl a super nice attitude no matter what you get. Just my 2 cents. Booked again this dec. Im sure some staff can be bad anywhere but so can you at your job too i know i can be mean too! Worst was one year we bought club class air transat. And one of there staff memeber got a seat in club, but was off duty, now she was out for revenge lol. So was terrible!!!! Air transat flight 1 way to cancun is twice as much as air canada!!!!! And you dont get any lounge.
Hey Pandy when ever we have gone to that lounge, there is no alcohol served early in a.m. what time were ypu there? Im a big time nervous flyer too!!!!
Asian airports, like Singapore's Changi and Middle Eastern one's like Qatar's Doha have really clean, beautiful and top notch high tech restrooms in lounges and in the airports as well. Canadian Airport and lounge restrooms are 3rd world in comparison. Changi and Doha airports are also breathtaking. When you say airport restrooms are disgusting, I assume you are referring to Canadian ones, or have never travelled to Singapore Changi, or Qatar Doha.
The price you pay for Premium Economy is more than twice of what ylu pay for basic Economy. And really the comfort isn't much better in Premium as it is in Economy. I think the next time for a long haul flight I'll pay the 4, 5 or 600 more for the Business and that's round trip. The better deal is business for sure.
@@pandytravels Well cost wise between Premium and Business is only 4, 5, 6 hunderd dollars. A way better value than economy to premium. For what youm receive on business on a long haul is well worth the price difference. I did it last year YYZ to FRA Premium to Business for my wife and I total for the two of us was only 1200 dollars more well worth the upgrade. On Lufthansa Airlines.
I would say premium economy is always worth it in the sense that a human can actually sit there with dignity compared to regular economy. Of course the price can make it unaffordable or down right stupid ($11,000???). I really doubt anybody is paying this amount, Christmas or not. The way to do it is what you've done by using points, e-upgrades, or bids.
Agree! But it takes a lot of research and time to get into points, e-upgrades, etc. A lot of people don’t even know where to begin! Like I said - worth $1500 in points, certainly not worth $4K or that absolutely ludicrous price tag of $11K 😂

So many lounges have super nice bathrooms! You should try more lounges!
Challenge accepted!
